Pleasant Valley Golf Club
About
Pleasant Valley Golf Club sits just south of Dulles airport, but the expansive layout, which is absent of homes, feels much more secluded. The parkland layout tumbles across a diverse landscape of rolling hills and grassy meadows covered with hardwood forests. There is plenty of diversity throughout the golf course with some holes that are bunker-less contrasting with the links holes that have Scottish-style bunkers. One of the most memorable holes is the par-5 fifth. After an uphill tee shot with a bunker on the right and a waste area on the left the second shot presents multiple choices. To the left you could take a risk with trees and a bunker but you could possibly be rewarded with a better angle for the third shot while the right side option will require a third shot over a large bunker to reach the green.

Fairways and Greens need better maintenance
Pleasant Valley is one of the better courses in Virginia, one of my favorites from the layout. I’m not sure what has happened to the maintenance of this course. The cart path are almost new in excellent shape but the course is in terrible conditions and the price is still high to play - unacceptable in my opinion.
Worst in the area
$94 for this course is a slap in the face. TERRIBLE conditions. Standing water, diseased greens, rough is never cut and the tee boxes look like FedEx field after a Metallica concert.
Destroyed. AVOID AVOID AVOID.
You will remember this review if you still decide to give this ‘Golf Course’ a chance.
Overpriced. Underdelivered.
The greens, tees and fairways are diseased and they’re charging $80 for a round here? Delusional. Course should probably be closed but they’re making money without a conscious. Oh, and it took 1 hour to play the first 3 holes. 5.5 hour round. Poorly run facility, at best.
Needs some TLC
From tee to green, some of the holes especially 1 and 2 are just bad. I don't see how they can charge premium prices and not make the needed improvements. Everything else including the bunkers, grass practice tees, and friendly staff were in A OK.
Bad Conditions
This course is in extremely bad condition. The fairways are torn up on almost every hole and the greens are no better. It was a frustrating to say the least after paying a premium rate.
Pick up the clippings!
There was so much grass clippings that everything was covered in grass after the round. Greens and fairways had large dead spots… overall this course was garbage…
Awful Conditions and Marshall
I usually don’t complain but played Pleasant Valley this morning and it was TERRIBLE. Not sure what they’ve done but the course was in AWFUL AWFUL shape for the price. I was ok with taking my disappointment in silence but when I simple asked the Marshall in the clubhouse about the conditions, his response was…”Well, you chose to play here”. Certainly won’t be going back there again. I recommend staying away from this course!
Been playing PV and SR for several years, hit and miss with the conditions but it's above a municipal course.
I was told they have a new superintendent, the tees are bald and tractor marks on some fairways and rough with some good fairways too,
Paid $95...ouch if you know about the new super why fleece the players, course has never been worth more that $75
Things have been good to gold since COVID cheers to the courses for getting a nice break but the exaggerated prices at this and other courses is leaving a bad taste in my mouth.
First course to bring back reasonable prices will benefit long term, I believe anyway.
Thank you for listening,
Bad condition
The layout of the course is fun. The condition was very patchy and poor. Was looking to add a course to the rotation but i unfortunately won’t be playing here again.
Worst condition I’ve ever see
For $94 you would expect a decent a course with water stations around and the tee boxes, fairways and greens to be in somewhat good shape. Oh no… this course was completely torn up. Every tee box was poorly kept and had no hole that was in good condition. The fairways had water holes everywhere and was completely unkept and dead. The greens were dead and had crab grass every where. Would not recommend anyone to come here and golf and will not be returning ever. I really hope this place figures it out or lowers there rates to the actual condition of the course.
Tee boxes and greens...
Tee boxes and greens are in bad shape for 80 plus a round... Not the first time this has happened.
Ill maintained, not worth the $102 Price tag
My first experience at Pleasant Valley GG, and unfortunately, if I could, I would give this Golf Club half a star.
The property is not properly maintained, the club does not properly manage its tee times, and basic amenities were missing altogether, providing an unpleasant and stressful experience for my friends and me.
As this is a public course, there is a certain standard you must accept. However, for a price of $102.00 each, one would expect a certain level of care for their course and the people who play on it.
Every hole on the course was ill-maintained, where weeds and tall grass took over tee boxes and fairways. The greens were as patchy and barren as the Mojave Desert. Once you prepared yourself to take a swing out of an uncomfortable lie, you could feel the tension between the group ahead and behind as they wanted the pace of play to start picking up.
I have never experienced something so poor that I had this sense of urgency to write a review, please save your $102.00. It is better spent elsewhere.
WASTE of money
I don’t normally write reviews unless I have an over the top great experience OR very substandard/mediocre experience. My buddies and I were excited to play Pleasant Valley for the first time but were pretty shocked to see how awful the conditions of the course were. The tee boxes had literal weeds growing out of them, (so did the sand bunkers) the fairways had huge craters in them and the greens were patchy.
I wouldn’t normally write reviews about these issues because I understand that they get played a lot—the reason why I’m writing a review is because we paid $100 EACH to play 18 holes and I haven’t played at a worse looking course in over 2 years. This course should have been $50 MAX. The tee times were also not far enough apart so we were squeezed the entire time.
The staff was great and friendly but I will not be spending $100 here for a round ever again.
$100 for dead tee boxes and chucks ripped out of fairways
Course is in horrible shape. The tee boxes are dead and overrun with weeds. The fairways are in poor shape with chucks of grass ripped out all over. Certainly players could do a better job of replacing divots, but maintenance on the course is severely lacking.
Looks like all the money went to new cart paths.
$100 for this course is robbery.
