Pleasant Valley Golf Club
About
Pleasant Valley Golf Club sits just south of Dulles airport, but the expansive layout, which is absent of homes, feels much more secluded. The parkland layout tumbles across a diverse landscape of rolling hills and grassy meadows covered with hardwood forests. There is plenty of diversity throughout the golf course with some holes that are bunker-less contrasting with the links holes that have Scottish-style bunkers. One of the most memorable holes is the par-5 fifth. After an uphill tee shot with a bunker on the right and a waste area on the left the second shot presents multiple choices. To the left you could take a risk with trees and a bunker but you could possibly be rewarded with a better angle for the third shot while the right side option will require a third shot over a large bunker to reach the green.

Pleasant valley not worth $69 in February
Pleasant valley has a nice layout however, this course is not worth $69 on the middle of February. I’m not sure that I Would pay $69 in the summer for this course. Some of the fairways have bear spots and puddles of water from poor drainage. Since the start of COVID courses have raised prices and winter rates appear to be a thing of the past.
Quite some time since last played course
A year and half since last played the course but it felt like one of the fun courses to play again. The weather cooperated and course condition played great. Could not say the same with how I played but with online rates on the tee off times, I’ll be watching for this course in the coming days. Kudos to Jack the starter, young but friendly and wasted no time sending group out to play.
Selfish stupid ignorance players
I saw front of my front team has 6 people were playing. Didn't notice until half of back nine. I had to wait longer every hole in the rain. The facility management have to look out those ignorant people for course images.
Good Shape
Course is lush. Greens are soft but roil nice. Fairways are good. Good value
Overpriced for condition of the course
Course is in awful shape.. Greens, tee boxes, and fairways had weeds everywhere. Fairways had bald spots and ruts. Course was in great condition in the spring but it looks like they have just give.n up. Sad state of affairs
Hardest thing: Finding ground not torn up by divots and ball marks!
In recent past, this course was one of my favorites because of the excellent conditions for a public course. That has drastically changed in a negative way. If the putting green can be so immaculate, then so can the greens on the course. Tee boxes (photo provided) looked like a Military Ordnance range, with much ground under repair or unplayable due to water/mud that wasn't marked in any way. Very slow pace of play on the front nine, with no Marshall riding around to address the issue. Ball marks, crab grass, and patches of dead grass/bare patches all over many greens. Based on all of these factors, at least a small basket of range balls should be complimentary, or reduce the price to around $65 to ride 18 holes.
Poor conditions
Tee boxes, fairways, rough, and greens were in terrible condition. It seemed like the course is just not taken care of. I luckily had a discount but I would never play here at the normal fees they are charging for at the most an avg clubhouse and terrible course conditions.
Rough shape
This course is in really rough shape. Fairways are beat up, some greens are unplayable, tee boxes have seen much better days. Not worth the money currently. The staff was friendly though.
Poor value for what you get
I played this course on a Saturday and the course was in worse shape than municipal courses I have played. Some holes entire areas of fairway are under repair and in some instances it seemed as if about 1/3 if the green was under repair as well. If the course was charging about 1/3 the price it might be considered an ok value, but this is not maintained like a course charging $90 green fee.
You posted two reviews within a week of each other for the one course you did like and based on your other posted reviews you should probably take up a different sport. Golf Now should really take a look at who is posting a review before making it go live.
