Pleasant Valley Golf Club
About
Pleasant Valley Golf Club sits just south of Dulles airport, but the expansive layout, which is absent of homes, feels much more secluded. The parkland layout tumbles across a diverse landscape of rolling hills and grassy meadows covered with hardwood forests. There is plenty of diversity throughout the golf course with some holes that are bunker-less contrasting with the links holes that have Scottish-style bunkers. One of the most memorable holes is the par-5 fifth. After an uphill tee shot with a bunker on the right and a waste area on the left the second shot presents multiple choices. To the left you could take a risk with trees and a bunker but you could possibly be rewarded with a better angle for the third shot while the right side option will require a third shot over a large bunker to reach the green.

Poor condition
Course is pretty beat up. Greens had a lot of damaged portion.
Beautiful course!
Very nice course, and in good shape. Lots of nice views and interesting holes.
Great track.
Although there were some small bare spots on some of the greens, conditions were very good. About a four hour round ,which I find very acceptable. I will definitely be back as soon as I can find another deal through Golfnow. Played here twice in three days, thanks to Golfnow.
Nice Track
Nice track that, like any public course, has its issues with maintenance in certain areas. Nothing over the top bad. Biggest problem was the tee boxes. Other than that, I enjoy this course and do recommend it. PSA TO THE PUBLIC: FIX BALL MARKS AND DIVOTS.
Given a lot of other N. VA courses look pretty bad (post-Summer), I was glad to see that P. Valley was in pretty good shape. The day was an absolute 10. Too bad my score was not.
Great pace
Played as a single and the round moved at a great pace. Overall course was in pretty decent shape with the exception of a handful of greens / tees.
Horrendous condition
Have played this course monthly for the last 3 years. By far the worst shape I’ve seen it in. Greens have all kinds of bumps, weeds and just dirt. Half of the tees don’t have grass on them. Very disappointed with the value of my money here.
Bad shape
Course is in bad shape due to rain not worth the money
Need to repair cart paths and each hole singing
Tee boxes, Fairways and greens are all around big big and widely dead spots
Slllloooowwww
Maybe my 10th round here. Nice people, fun and challenging course, getting a little chewed up on the greens but ok. Consistently 4 hour rounds, but today something was BADLY amiss. 2 hours and a bit on the front 9, then 2 hours THROUGH 5 HOLES of the back. Actually just packed it up and drove back to the clubhouse after 14. Glad we did...both 16 and 17 had two groups on the tee! We counted 9 groups ahead of us on 15-18. Simple math means that many groups had nearly 6 hour rounds.
This can’t happen, PV. Put times on the carts or something and enforce pace of play...meaning you compel slow groups to skip holes. “It’s crowded” is NOT an excuse.
Many of the courses in the D.C. area got hit bad by the combo of too much rain and lots of heat. Pleasant Valley has lots of dead spots on their greens but they did a good job of putting the pins away from that. They had also recently aerated but that's to be expected in late Aug, early Sept. My biggest complaint is not against PV but about D.C. golfers. I must have made -6-8 pitch marks on the green today but fixed at least 20 (& could have fixed another 50). This area is chock full of jerks that don't even bother to fix their marks. After months of this and bad weather, it's amazing course superintendents don't quit. I sure wish courses would start to come down hard on these jerks.
Nice weather, but so-so golf
Course was not in it’s “usually” good condition. Greens were pitted and consistently showed bare patches. Also, we were cart path only (CPO) (because of previous rain) but the asphalt paths were very torn up and in great need of repair. Partly because of CPO, but also there was no Marshall and several groups ahead were very slow and backed everything up - 5.5 hour round . . .
