Pleasant Valley Golf Club
About
Pleasant Valley Golf Club sits just south of Dulles airport, but the expansive layout, which is absent of homes, feels much more secluded. The parkland layout tumbles across a diverse landscape of rolling hills and grassy meadows covered with hardwood forests. There is plenty of diversity throughout the golf course with some holes that are bunker-less contrasting with the links holes that have Scottish-style bunkers. One of the most memorable holes is the par-5 fifth. After an uphill tee shot with a bunker on the right and a waste area on the left the second shot presents multiple choices. To the left you could take a risk with trees and a bunker but you could possibly be rewarded with a better angle for the third shot while the right side option will require a third shot over a large bunker to reach the green.

Pace of play was excellent, course conditions rough
I have not played this course in several months. There are some interesting holes with split fairways, etc. so I was looking forward to playing it again. While most of the greens were in decent shape, many of the fairways and tees had bare spots, etc. We hadn't had much rain the past month or so, perhaps that added to the conditions. I would still not hesitate to play the course again, just not at full price.
Great layout. Good condition. Good value.es But I had. Golfnow deal
I would love to play the course more but a bunch of other nearbuby courses cost less.
Thank you for playing and for the review!
Enjoy natur
Well designed course in beautiful nature, sind Tee Offs need repair and maintenance.
Greens in good condition, a Bit slow.
Overall a good course to play...
Things I like about the course:
1. Front nine, more privacy between links.
2. Relatively easy course for a novice like me.
3. Pretty laid back staff, although the golf sheriff prefers you not start on the 10th tee. But because it was slow, he was cool about it.
4. Grass along the fairway is really short so finding my ball was easy.
5. No Geese! No Geese, No Geese!!! :) :) :) No goose poop!
6. They didn’t force singles to pair up!! Thank God! I personally don’t like to be paired with people I don’t know and don’t know how they play.
Things I didn’t like about the course:
1. Back nine links are not as separated , several links meet tee to green. Your trying to putt while just a few yards away people are driving. Not easy to focus with all the ruckus.
2. Lots of the tee boxes were in rough shape, crab grass growing or not much grass at all. Although it appeared as though they had recently been aerated. Fairways had lots of spots that were bare and appeared to have been that way for some time. Tons of divet marks not fixed. Greens mostly ok. They had just recently watered the course so there were lots of soggy spots.
3. This is not a reflection of the course but of the other golfers I encountered. I was starting on the 10th tee and there was one cart sitting a bit back. I waited a bit but no one came out. So I went ahead and was getting ready to tee off when a foursome passed by explaining that they were next but just stopped in to get some beers “at 10:45 in the morning” REALLY!!!. I conceded, but had they been gentlemen they would have let the single go ahead of their foursome. Common courtesy!!!
4. Why is a golf course serving beer at all let alone at 10:45 a.m on a Thursday. I’ve seen too many drunken idiots wreck the carts and sometimes hurt other people.
Much better than spring time
Was hesitant to play here again after seeing the poor conditions in spring. Greens are in very good shape; some ball and animal marks. Tee boxes are still poor with mostly sand and sparse grass. They were aerated so club is trying to get them back in shape.
I've always liked the layout and the challenges it presents. Glad to see the conditioning is getting better. Will put this back into my rotation.
Great layout
Course has great layout, some challenging holes. Some of the tee boxes needed some work but overall course in good shape will definitely play again.
Great layout, struggling conditions
PV is a great track but struggles with course conditions. Tee boxes are in bad shape and covered with sand. I’m sure ground crew is working to bring them back to life but I don’t think we should pay north of $80 for the course in this condition. Definitely will play again.
Course conditions need work
Enjoyable round but many tee boxes in terrible shape and some fairways rutted from vehicle use.
All good except for tees
The greens and fairways were in very good shape. The bunkers looked good although I wasn’t in any of them. The tee boxes on a number of holes were in really bad shape. The course is aerating and sanding many of them but I’m not sure they will come back for a long time. In any case I’d play there again despite the tees.
I liked the layout a lot
Pleasant Valley was a lot of fun, and I’d definitely recommend it to a friend. The pace of play was average overall, the front went super fast and the back was super slow. The conditions weren’t great, there were many tee boxes that were just straight up dirt and sand, but otherwise it was alright. I loved the layout, it was challenging and enjoyable at the same time. The bunker placement was good, and you can tell they really worked to make those better. Overall I had a lot of fun, I’ll definitely be back next spring sometime when the condition is back to normal!
Worst condition I’ve seen
I’ve played this course 20 times. I’ve never seen it in such poor condition. If I were a member I’d want the course manager and greens keeping staff fired. Weeds growing in the greens. The aprons so uneven due to weeds they could never be putted on. Three quarters of the tee boxes had zero grass
It’s in the worst condition of any course I’ve played in 10 years.
Don’t waste your money This course is in horrible condition.
Decent course layout, but needs TLC
If the course was in better condition, the $80 greens fee would be decent value. However, the greens were hairy, the fairways were patchy and most of the tee boxes were basically dirt with some grass. Staff was friendly, pace of play was fine and ample water coolers located around the course, but no beverage cart at all. It had rained a few days before but not during the round. The course does not drain well at all so there were several very wet areas.
Tee boxes and greens in poor condition
Overall the value for the money at this course is poor. The tee boxes are in a state of disrepair and the greens a pock marked with ball marks. Course was very damp with poor drainage throughout most fairways. Would be for a price point much lower than $80
course in pretty good shape considering the storms we have experienced over past couple summers. Greens roll slow and true. 3 of the greens need more time to fill in. Staff quite friendly. Real good course for intermediiate to better golfers.

Thank you for playing and for your review. We are glad you like the layout and the greens. We have been working hard on the fairways and tees. The fairways have come a long way over the past few weeks.
