Pleasant Valley Golf Club
About
Pleasant Valley Golf Club sits just south of Dulles airport, but the expansive layout, which is absent of homes, feels much more secluded. The parkland layout tumbles across a diverse landscape of rolling hills and grassy meadows covered with hardwood forests. There is plenty of diversity throughout the golf course with some holes that are bunker-less contrasting with the links holes that have Scottish-style bunkers. One of the most memorable holes is the par-5 fifth. After an uphill tee shot with a bunker on the right and a waste area on the left the second shot presents multiple choices. To the left you could take a risk with trees and a bunker but you could possibly be rewarded with a better angle for the third shot while the right side option will require a third shot over a large bunker to reach the green.

I liked the layout a lot
Pleasant Valley was a lot of fun, and I’d definitely recommend it to a friend. The pace of play was average overall, the front went super fast and the back was super slow. The conditions weren’t great, there were many tee boxes that were just straight up dirt and sand, but otherwise it was alright. I loved the layout, it was challenging and enjoyable at the same time. The bunker placement was good, and you can tell they really worked to make those better. Overall I had a lot of fun, I’ll definitely be back next spring sometime when the condition is back to normal!
Worst condition I’ve seen
I’ve played this course 20 times. I’ve never seen it in such poor condition. If I were a member I’d want the course manager and greens keeping staff fired. Weeds growing in the greens. The aprons so uneven due to weeds they could never be putted on. Three quarters of the tee boxes had zero grass
It’s in the worst condition of any course I’ve played in 10 years.
Don’t waste your money This course is in horrible condition.
Decent course layout, but needs TLC
If the course was in better condition, the $80 greens fee would be decent value. However, the greens were hairy, the fairways were patchy and most of the tee boxes were basically dirt with some grass. Staff was friendly, pace of play was fine and ample water coolers located around the course, but no beverage cart at all. It had rained a few days before but not during the round. The course does not drain well at all so there were several very wet areas.
Tee boxes and greens in poor condition
Overall the value for the money at this course is poor. The tee boxes are in a state of disrepair and the greens a pock marked with ball marks. Course was very damp with poor drainage throughout most fairways. Would be for a price point much lower than $80
course in pretty good shape considering the storms we have experienced over past couple summers. Greens roll slow and true. 3 of the greens need more time to fill in. Staff quite friendly. Real good course for intermediiate to better golfers.
Not the worst not the best, would reccomend
This course is your typical northern VA course that in many other sectors of united states would charge a max of $40 to play but because we are in northern VA, land of the rich, home of the money, it's price is easily doubled, just like all its surrounding courses. So its no better and no worse then them, and because of that I would recommend. Has some nice laid out holes, and is fun course. Green and fairways are what they are, which is average at best. I played every public course in northern VA and this is just the same, but I would go back, and I would recommend playing especially if you get a deal. Very friendly staff and hard working
Nice property, grass range, good condition, avg green speed
Course is fun with no houses. Practice facility is great when the grass range is open. Greens were quicker in the spring versus summer.
Disappointed in the condition.
I used to play here a lot but haven't in many years. I know they hold a ton of tournaments so it definitely gets a lot of traffic. But seeing it today was pretty sad. The clubhouse needs a lot of attention on the outside. The cart path was crumbling. The tee boxes and greens were pretty beat up. No one seems to fix their divots. It'll be a while before I come.back here.
Bad tee boxes. Fairways. And greens
The tee boxes were uneven, sandy, bumpy and had little to no grass on most. The greens were patchy and you can clearly tell no one fixes their ball marks. The fairways were spongy. The course left sprinklers on the fairways while we were trying to hit.....-___- ... 70$ is insane for how crappy this course is. I will not play here ever again.
Great Shape
Fairways were in great shape, although a little wet from a downpour the night before. Greens were pretty good as well. Played on a Saturday morning and finished in 4:20. Would definitely play again
Sturdy Course
Never played this course and found it to be very rewarding.
Pleasant Valley
The course was in great condition considering it rained most of the week
Great layout
Love the layout of the course. Many different types of shots needed. Challenging but fair.
Good, could be great
Course has a great layout and is a lot of fun, but tee boxes are in poor shape, multiple fairways with ground under repair chunks, and cart path needs to be redone in multiple places.
All good except tees
Course was in very good shape except for a number of tee boxes and the first green. First green had a lot of patchy spots with no grass. Many of the Blue tee boxes were in really bad shape. No turf and really uneven. They may have to rebuild some. On the other hand, the fairways were in great shape as were the majority of the greens. Pace of play was good and the staff there is very friendly. Despite the minor issues mentioned, I would go there again.
Nice Course, Poor Time Management
I literally just finished my round at 8:30pm. Tee time was at 2:34. I understand there was a tournament, but I could’ve been at home watching the US Open instead of playing a round of golf that causes you to lose interest. I feel like I left work early today for no reason.
Not what it used to be
I used to play Pleasant Valley all the time years ago when I worked nearby. I played Sunday and was very disappointed in the quality of the course. The first green was a mess and most tees were horrible. With all the rain of this spring, I wasn't expecting it to be so beat up and poor. Happens in the late summer when we dry out, but it should have been perfect. Not sure when I will be back.
