Pleasant Valley Golf Club
About
Pleasant Valley Golf Club sits just south of Dulles airport, but the expansive layout, which is absent of homes, feels much more secluded. The parkland layout tumbles across a diverse landscape of rolling hills and grassy meadows covered with hardwood forests. There is plenty of diversity throughout the golf course with some holes that are bunker-less contrasting with the links holes that have Scottish-style bunkers. One of the most memorable holes is the par-5 fifth. After an uphill tee shot with a bunker on the right and a waste area on the left the second shot presents multiple choices. To the left you could take a risk with trees and a bunker but you could possibly be rewarded with a better angle for the third shot while the right side option will require a third shot over a large bunker to reach the green.

Good, could be great
Course has a great layout and is a lot of fun, but tee boxes are in poor shape, multiple fairways with ground under repair chunks, and cart path needs to be redone in multiple places.
All good except tees
Course was in very good shape except for a number of tee boxes and the first green. First green had a lot of patchy spots with no grass. Many of the Blue tee boxes were in really bad shape. No turf and really uneven. They may have to rebuild some. On the other hand, the fairways were in great shape as were the majority of the greens. Pace of play was good and the staff there is very friendly. Despite the minor issues mentioned, I would go there again.
Nice Course, Poor Time Management
I literally just finished my round at 8:30pm. Tee time was at 2:34. I understand there was a tournament, but I could’ve been at home watching the US Open instead of playing a round of golf that causes you to lose interest. I feel like I left work early today for no reason.
Not what it used to be
I used to play Pleasant Valley all the time years ago when I worked nearby. I played Sunday and was very disappointed in the quality of the course. The first green was a mess and most tees were horrible. With all the rain of this spring, I wasn't expecting it to be so beat up and poor. Happens in the late summer when we dry out, but it should have been perfect. Not sure when I will be back.
Not Worth the Price
In the past course was always in great shape. Not so this time out. Nearly all greens were damaged, some extensively, tees and rough both needed to be mowed,
muddy spots in many of the fairways, only easily located yardage markers are the 150 yd poles. Worth about half of what we paid.
Not a great value
The course layout is good. Most of the golf
Course is in an above average conditions.
The greens are very patchy and it times
Brown patches. The course does not
Commend a premium amount
Greens are atrocious
The course is nice, overall layout is great. Some fairways are wide and inviting. Others are narrow and challenging. But the greens....they have dead spots all over and need a complete overhaul. 80% of the tee boxes are a mess as well. Fix the greens and this could be a championship course.
It really is a shame
This could be one of the best public courses in the area. The layout is very good. Fairways and greens are well-bunkered (and the bunkers all have new sand -- great!) and the holes are nice with a number of greens at an angle to the fairway, making the approach shots more challenging. Unfortunately, the greens are not even close to being good. #1 and #2 are awful, and and a number of others have plenty of dead spots. It didn't look like anything was being done to fix them. Oh, and Poa seems to be taking over every green. A fine course with bad greens. It really is a shame.
Pleasant Valley has always been a good place, in large part as you never see any houses and get to watch the planes going in/out of Dulles. It;s plenty challenging and usually is in good shape. They've always had a few greens (esp #1) that are beat up but given how often we get either too much or too little rain, it's not a big deal. I usually play there 5-6x a year so that's a good endorsement.

Great layout and conditions were fine. Need to consider amount of rainfall in week before we played.
Just average
Just an average layout with subpar conditions. Lots of rain this week and the course does not drain well. 10 fairway literally had a lake on it. Couple of the greens need to be completely re done as they ridden with disease. The course will not be in my regular rotation
Despite the weather...
Nice layout, some really cool holes. Tee boxes were in bad shape, some greens had patches in them but for this time of year it wasn’t bad. Only problem with the course is the in-season rate; way too overpriced.
Great layout but subpar mtn
PV is a fun course with a great layout. It is challenging enough for golfers of all levels.
But man they need to work on the tees and greens... and i mean put some serious effort into them.
