Pleasant Valley Golf Club
About
Pleasant Valley Golf Club sits just south of Dulles airport, but the expansive layout, which is absent of homes, feels much more secluded. The parkland layout tumbles across a diverse landscape of rolling hills and grassy meadows covered with hardwood forests. There is plenty of diversity throughout the golf course with some holes that are bunker-less contrasting with the links holes that have Scottish-style bunkers. One of the most memorable holes is the par-5 fifth. After an uphill tee shot with a bunker on the right and a waste area on the left the second shot presents multiple choices. To the left you could take a risk with trees and a bunker but you could possibly be rewarded with a better angle for the third shot while the right side option will require a third shot over a large bunker to reach the green.

CHALLENGING FEATURES....
The bunkers are well located to make play easy yet challenging. The water ponds come into play but provides a wonderful ambiance and also some threat
to you T shorts and fairway approaches.
Fairways and greens are in great shape. T boxes need some TLC.
Nice layout!
Course was in good shape, better than expected for the amount of rain of recent. The greens were great, course was tough. Try to hit straight off the tee or expect to spend time looking for your ball. Starter was very unfriendly and rude. Course needs to add more directional signage. Pace of play was slow but to be expected since carts had to remain on the path due wet course conditions and we were playing in a large tournament. Looks like they recently built a new addition for events which was nice for after our round.
Nice option near Dulles
First time playing Pleasant Valley and I imagine I will be back. A bit of a hike from DC, but close to major highways for those coming from anywhere in the Northern Virginia area.
Very nice routing that would be quite walk-able (though cart is included). No houses or roads in sight, and the course is well laid out on rolling farmland property. Some holes run parallel, but usually have a buffer zone of high grass or shrubs.
Most holes are straightforward, with few blind shots or "gotcha" pins. It was damp when I played so the course played a little long, but landing areas were very generous. I enjoyed the variety of holes, with some nice options presented on holes like 2, 9, and 16, all short par 4s with sweeping doglegs to allow for an aggressive play. Hole 17 also has a split fairway with a wider landing zone to the left and a shorter, narrower route right of the large fairway bunker.
I also enjoyed the par 5 fifth hole, with a large bunker and tree about 100 yards short of the green to make golfers think about positioning on their second shot.
The front nine is fairly forgiving, without much trouble aside from the forced water carry on the par 3 seventh. On the back, lakes come into play on multiple holes, starting with the 10th where a lake lines the right side of the fairway and green.
The greens were in terrific shape for late April, as were the fairways. Tee boxes weren't perfect, but not a problem.
Rack rate ($88 during peak hours) is on the higher side for this area, but the course is a step above its municipal neighbors like Brambleton or General's Ridge.
great host for events
The staff couldn't have been more accommodating. We, as customers, were clearly their focus. We will be back!
solid course
course lays out in front of you byt challenges you to make the shots.
Fun course at a GREAT price
We booked through Golfnow and got an AWESOME price ($25 for 18 with cart). In a couple weeks, this will be a $100/round course. Is it worth that price? Debatable. Nonetheless, it is a course that has some fun holes with some tricky pin placements. It was really tough to stop putts that were above the hole. These greens were rolling very well for this time of year. With the official start of the season a couple weeks away, this course was in very good shape. The rough was not too terrible, but the ball definitely jumped out of the rough, and that made it tough to stop on the greens. The bunkers were filled very well, and the sand was very well taken care of. Several of the holes feature water hazards that really played into the risk-reward factors of the holes. There were a few short par 4 holes that really tempted the use of driver, which really was not necessary. The 9th hole was an example of this; it is a straight forward 300 yard par 4 that one can get close to with a well hit drive. However, woods line both sides of the hole, and so keeping the driver in the bag and maybe teeing off with a 3 wood or even long iron is the smart play. Otherwise, this was a good course, and I will definitely be back to play it, but will be playing it when the deals are as hot as they were when my group and I played! The patio out back made for some good viewing as players came down the 18th or teed off number 10. I enjoyed the selection of draft beers available in the clubhouse, in addition to the canned beverages. A fun day had by all of us.
Great experience
Really enjoyed the course, and got a great deal on golf now .Only bad thing to say about PV was getting served a cold hot dog at the turn ... Gross
Value Course
You get a decent day out there and the pace was good. I was a little peeved no water coolers were out. Course was in great shape and the greens rolled nice. Definitely will come back. Good value for a day out of the office.
Very Pleasant
All was great with the course except the green side bunkers need more sand
Aging not so gracefully
I like this course and have played it several times over the past 10 years. It is a bit of a drive for me (an hour) and usually a bit too pricey, but I found a good deal on Last Minute Golfer and took it. My recollection was of an immaculately maintained course, but I found it rough around the edges this time. Areas around the greens were trodden and worn and the rough was patchy and inconsistent in many spots. The fairways and greens were in pretty good shape. I enjoyed the challenge, but was disappointed in the course conditions.
This course has great greens
The experience was very good. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The course was not crowded so we were never held up. The course conditions were very very good for mid-November and the greens were exceptional. Quick, true and plush! We enjoyed the round very much.
Horrible first experience
I worked on a golf course for two years, and I've never mowed a golf course from the first hole to the 18th! I literally played 12 holes with maintenance mowing with me the whole way. Common sense would dictate you now from 18 to 1 so as not to be with the same golfers the whole way. The course is hard enough without having to try not to hit staff on 12 of 18 holes. After I made a very nice but frustrated gesture of throwing my hands in the air they acted like they didn't care. It's a beautiful golf course but just like anywhere I eat if you mess up the first time I don't come back. I would recommend playing it once though
No house inside course.golf only
I like lay out of this course.
Specially there Is no house in golf course.
Can concentrate on golf shot.. Thanks.
Horrible tee boxes.. Slow and bumpy greens.. Parts of the fairways were chewed up and looked like they were under repair.
Slow peace of play. Had to wait at least 5 minutes on every tee box. They had a shot gun tournament and did not manage the groups time. Almost 3 hours for the front nine. Went to make a complaint and recieved very little customer service. They moved us to 3 hole in the front. Poor poor poor customer service.
Wish it was better
Pace of play was pretty good considering the amount of people out. The course wasn't in great shape and suffering from lack of water.
An Overlooked Gem
I'm very happy with Pleasant Valley. A very fair skills test in a quiet spot in the middle of high-pressure Northern Virginia.
This may be my new favorite course.
Rough Around the Edges
Is this course auditioning for the US Open? Unacceptably overgrown rough around the greens and along the fairways makes for a frustrating round. Mgmt needs to recalibrate the "intermediate" setting on the lawn mowers. Also, soggy fairways seem to be the norm. This has the potential to be a nice course but instead seems to be on the verge of neglect. As such, it is not enough value for the high cost.
Nice Layout
Nice course. Fair and playable. Good bunkers. Course needs a starter to get groups going. Better management of pairing up groups. Would love to play again, but price needs to come down a little.
It has been better
Played here a month ago and in great shape. Today, greens slow and rough about 5-6 inches thick. There's been a lot of rain but man it was like US Open rough. Pace of play on front was ridiculous. Back got a lot faster. About 4.5 hour round on a Saturday.
Good course but nothing memorable
Good layout that is playable for all levels. Use your three wood or irons on many tees from blue tees. Easy to score , okay range , decent greens and conditioning . no memorable holes except 8, 9, 10 17....friendly staff....pace of play is okay but weekends can be long
Seaview Stay & Play Golf Package
Seaview Stay & Play Golf Package
Played again a couple of weeks ago and conditions had suffered. Many rough patches on the greens, very unkempt tee boxes. Not crowded on a sunny Sunday and no surprise--the course was not up to par with area rivals like 1757.
