Pleasant Valley Golf Club
About
Pleasant Valley Golf Club sits just south of Dulles airport, but the expansive layout, which is absent of homes, feels much more secluded. The parkland layout tumbles across a diverse landscape of rolling hills and grassy meadows covered with hardwood forests. There is plenty of diversity throughout the golf course with some holes that are bunker-less contrasting with the links holes that have Scottish-style bunkers. One of the most memorable holes is the par-5 fifth. After an uphill tee shot with a bunker on the right and a waste area on the left the second shot presents multiple choices. To the left you could take a risk with trees and a bunker but you could possibly be rewarded with a better angle for the third shot while the right side option will require a third shot over a large bunker to reach the green.

staff was inadequate
no starter. as a single i was placed with another group which is great. however that group was told to begin 10mins prior and thus i was forced to try and catch them on front nine. when i did they split again and i was forced to play alone which slowed pace of play. when i asked for some sort of raincheck the staff was beligerant and non-amicable due to my fees being tied to golfnow vs direct pay to proshop. i asked for something--bucket of balls, etc. and they still would not oblige. will not play again.
Good course
One of the better courses in the area. Some interesting, but challenging, holes out there (no gimme par 3's here#. The course was a little waterlogged #not surprising considering the recent major rain#, traps were beat up #again, somewhat understandable, it was better on my past visit#. Pace of play was solid. Can get some good greens fees on GolfNow #in the $40-60), and at that rate it's definitely worth it.
Decent course
Nice to not see homes on the course. Must be highly played, several greens and tee boxes need attention.
Nice course- would go again
I really liked this course. Fairways were in great shape and the fact that the carts are all equipped with GPS is helpful if you don't have a phone app. My only criticism of this course was that the tee boxes need some attention (flattening out and pruning) but other than that I really liked it. Very comparable to other courses in the area such as Old Hickory.
surprised!
strange that the course wasn't packed. nobody behind us, nobody in front of us. played in 3hr 45min!
pv was in good shape even if the fairways were a little long and spongy. greens were running pretty quick.
overall, a good day on the course and if we could get around in less than 4 hrs, i'd play here every week!
Pleasant Valley
The course staff was very friendly, and the experience was overall very good. The course was in pretty good shape for it being the first week in August. The greens rolled true, and putts held their lines.
I did not like the number of blind shots, though that is a personal preference.
Overall, it's a pretty good test of golf.
Challenging from teh blue tees
Unfortunately our 4th golfer got sick at the last minute and could not play. We asked for a voucher at the front next however they said that since we booked through Golf Now they could not accommodate our request. Our savings was diminished because we paid for 4 and only played with 3. :(
this course was knid and nice to people
good condition and nice course. it was rained and kept on playing. so happy to us
Good pace of play, but relaxing.
Greens were challenging but true and consistent. Fairways were well maintained.
Great all around course
Clean and well maintained - great running fairways, slow greens which is goodt for aggressive players but bad for timid putters - all of the staff was very friendly. Tee times well spaced. I'll certainly go back.
Fun simple course, greens need a lot of work.
The course sits on a nice piece of land that is not surrounded by houses so you don't have to worry about spraying balls into people's backyards. The fairways were in decent shape and the overall course appears to be well maintained. The greens, however, are full of ball marks and in need of some substantial repair. The practice facility is small but serviceable. The carts come equipped with GPS which is a nice touch.
Overall, a simple course that is a good break from a workday but not worth a weekend round IMO.
Overpriced for the conditions
Course is mediocre in condition. Greens are usually slow and not particularly smooth. Greens fees can be high ($98) without a golfnow account and range balls are not included. Staff is ok but not particularly friendly. Pace of play can be hit or miss but often very slow.
For comparable money, I'd suggest going to Westfields instead.
Hot!
I know there is not a lot that you can do to control the weather, but man it was hot. That being said, you can make sure that there is a lot of water in the coolers on the course and the drink cart is making lots of passes by. We teed off at 12pm and only saw the drink cart twice and every cooler was empty.
All and all the course was in OK shape, very wet due to lots of rain last week. One of the Tee Boxes had grass as tall as the rough.
Pleasant Experience
Pleasant experience at Pleasant Valley. The course was in great condition for early July. It was a little pricey compared to other courses in the area but worth the extra few dollars.
The greens were quick and in excellent shape!
The only negative was that the GPS in our cart was extremely slow and too dim to see, so we didn't bother after the 3rd hole. Normally it wouldn't be a big deal but I didn't bring my GPS watch with me; so we played on without it.
Enjoyed the course.
Pretty scenic and in good condition from tee to green. Greens rolled nice but were a bit slow.
Well Managed Course
Played on Father's Day, a busy day. Despite the fact they were fully booked we were off a little early. At the 11th we ran into a Marshall who had caught another twosome trying to sneak in front of us. He had them return to the clubhouse immediately making sure we had the tee box. It must be the GPS systems on the carts that allowed them to detect the intrusion.
Decent Place to Play
The course was in great condition, but the cart paths seem to be washing away...lots of pot holes and ruts. Not a big deal on normal days, but when you are cart path only or 90 degree rule you spend a lot of time on the cart path.
The carts have GPS and it is to the pin, so a very nice perk for the round. More water on this course than I expected, but that only adds to the challenge.
Decent Course
Played on a Friday afternoon....pace of play was decent, finished in about 4.25 hours. Tee boxes were a mess though and I did not see any marshals on the course.
The course was in great shape, but it should be in May.
The course was in great shape, but a little over watered in spots. We found the course to be "pleasant", but not terribly interesting or challenging. No one in front of us or pushing us from behind made for a great round. They also had a great selection of draft beer in the clubhouse.
