Almost perfect
Good overall but they have a rule that carts must be back by 6:30. While this is fine in the early spring, winter golf.
They make it tough to play after work.
It doesn’t get dark till at least 8::30 in the summer.
As a single I was able to play a very busy course in 2 hours and 10 min thanks to courteous foursomes that invited me to play through but this seems to really restrict evening play.
Place of play
Piece of play was very slow. Golf etiquette is not well known there to do not let foursomes by.
Fantastic greens and really nice fairways....
This might just be the most well maintained municipal course I have ever played. The green are smooth and fast and the fairways are lush and mowed short. The front nine offers a nice balance of easy to hit fairways and fast undulating greens. The more challenging back nine is a bit tighter with trees in play on most holes. This is by far my favorite course in the area.
Lock it up
The course is scenic but lacks transparency. They didn’t disclose that the greens were recently aerated before I paid, which affected play. Additionally, cart rentals are poorly managed—ours had to be returned before finishing the round, forcing us to stop at hole 14. Thankfully, no group was directly behind us, or it would’ve been chaotic. Weekend cart return times should be extended to at least 7 PM, especially when it’s still light out. The facility is under construction, offering only snacks and drinks, no proper food. This place has potential, but they need to clearly communicate course conditions and operational limitations when booking tee times.
Nice pace of play
Enjoy playing here. I find pace of play is always good during the week and the starter and staff very friendly. Greens in great shape, tee box and sand could use some work. It appears the course is doing some sprucing up. Staff is always friendly, but we did have an unpleasant and aggressive interaction with the management, which is the only reason I didn't give 5 stars. Perhaps he was having a bad day!
Great Muni for the $$$
While the fairways were completely brown due to dormant conditions, this track was quite nice. The bunkers were red clay as opposed to sand - but they were consistent. The layout was diverse and quite nice; fairways are probably great when not dormant; greens were pretty good for March, tee blocks were above average. A nice selection of tees makes for a set of tees or all skills. I'll play here again after June when verdant!
Local
Good course with some challenges. Can’t wait for the grass to come in!
Unfriendly Female Staff
Paid for cart rates, but I was not given a cart because the time was past 3pm; this was not mentioned. I was told I can use a cart as long as we return it by 5pm. The female staff was unfriendly and rude.
Best bang for your buck in cville
Course was good, grass was dead but that’s expected during this time of year with Bermuda. We took 3 and got paired with a random walker, was a chill dude but slowed up the pace a bit. We got told after 9 that cart return was after 5 so we didn’t get to finish 18 even though 5pm was probably the nicest it had been all day. I’d play there again
Always a good time here Beautiful surroundings Nice carts although a little sensitive with geo fencing
