Very friendly staff and challenging course
Played on a rainy Saturday morning and the course had great drainage, no ponding water and the staff was helpful with answers and friendliness.
Grass was green, beer was cold, not a $109 course
Great customer service and range offering; course itself is quite good in the sense of the grass and the greens....but the layout and overall play experience wasn't worth the $109 price tag; though if I count cart rental and above par staff friendliness, it might be close.
First-class experience outside DC
First time playing Westfields today, but they have the "country club for a day" experience done better than I've seen anywhere else in the area.
On a chilly day, they had complimentary coffee and hot soup at a station in the clubhouse. A small touch but much appreciated by my group.
The course is fairly open off the tee, with wide fairways and not much water. Holes offer good variety, with most featuring large, undulating greens that played firm in the early spring. The front nine is fairly straightforward, but the back nine mixes in a couple of shorter par 4 holes to tempt longer hitters.
The back nine par 5s are also fairly reachable, including a fun hole in #10, a dogleg left with a large bunker short and left of a boomerang-shaped green. When the flag is on the left side, it makes for a challenging long iron for players looking to reach in two, and a smarter play may be to use the slope to run a ball from the center of the green down to the flagstick.
The other par 5, #15, plays uphill after an elevated tee shot, but the green invites a fairway wood or hybrid approach, with no trouble short.
From the giant buckets of balls on the range to the music playing out by the practice green, my group had a great experience and we know we'll be back soon.
Cheaper green fees at the course
Paired with a third player. He said he paid $49 with no fees. We paid $50 + fees at Golf Now. Not much of a difference but isn't the point of Golf Now to save $
Great time
I loved the course can't wait to play it again in the spring. Pace of play was slow and not the courses fault. The two groups in front of us were playing tee box's that were beyond their ability, this is what caused us to hit 16 at dusk and 18 tee box in total darkness. I think the only way to solve or at least mitigate this problem is to start by posting recommended tees for golfers handicaps or over abilities, this would benefit all. Again great layout and look forward to my next round. Thank you
Mixed Feelings
The course condition is a hit and miss. I play throughout the year and I would say this course is in a much better condition and a lot more enjoyable during winter time than summer time. The course gets played a lot during summer and it can be really slow on the weekends. During the off season, the course gets less traffic and plays a little bit faster (still slow by my standard though). This is not a long course but the design of the course is great. Each hole requires a different shot. It's not a difficult course but is interesting. One thing that always stands out is the staff there. They are always friendly and helpful.
Always a nice time
The staff is always a+. They meet you in the parking lot, set you up and send you out.
Course was not in great shape but it was January and there had been snow in the last few days. Course was in better shape then most courses in the area.
This is a must play in the summer time.
Well designed course. Staffs are professional and polite. I will definitely play again here.
Thank you!
Work to be done!
Course quality dropping year to year.
Greens as hard as rock with little to no give. Land front and expect big rolls.
Bunkers inconsistent throughout the entire course.
Fairways and rough generally okay in most areas, but expect many really soft wet areas as well as patch clumpy grass around greens.
Tee boxes generally mixed quality and show lots of hard use.
Otherwise course plays as it normally does, medium challenge but fun.
Fun Late Fall Round on Solid Layout
Enjoyed my round on this interesting layout designed by Fred Couples. You can tell Freddie designed it as the rough channels to the fairways about 300 yards from the back tee on the long hole. I noticed it as I played up a tee.
The greens were in good shape with challengeing speed, some slow some fast. Good variety of holes. Nice drive-able par 4 on the back.
Pace was slow due to frost delay and lots of golfers that need more time on the range.
I enjoyed my time on the course and would like to play it in the summer.
Great
Great high end course. Undergoing some appropriate but minor maintenance to repair worn down areas from brutal summer. Good experience.
Amazing
The only things better than the layout of this course and it's condition and the staff.
Felt like my friend and I where life long members.
One of the real Quality courses in the area
This staff is spending the effort and money to keep their course pristine. Great treat. Can be expensive, but twilight rate is great value. They always treat their customers like kings, and the course itself is a great mix of beauty, challenge, and fair. Play it. You'll like it.
