Good little par 3 for the money
Nice driving range. Two practice greens. Good value. Tee boxes weren’t great though. Cool goose prints in sand traps.
Quality Par 3
Great value. Friendly staff. Great course conditions and improvements over last few years. Best driving range in Northern Virginia. Close to home.
My Wife and i First Time Together
The course is good for those who are new to the game.
It strengthens your short-game and pitching. This is a good Par course to help you move off the Tee with precision. Too much bird-poop on the first 9 holes.
Pretty Good for a Par3 Course
Recommendation: maintenance crew should blow the leaves at start of day, way too many leaves covering most of the greens...beneath all that, the greens are in better condition than I thought. Tee boxes are a bit torn up but if they move the tee markers daily then should fix the problem. Many of the patrons I noticed are not (aware) golf-etiquette. Nobody rakes the bunkers nor fixes ball marks/divots on the greens including fairways, no sand on the tee boxes. These should be placed on tee boxes, I'm sure the county program could afford that. Also, should have basic (top 10) golf etiquette FYI posted on/around the course and handed out to patrons. The course is a good challenge for those working on their iron-play.
Staff could have been friendlier
We had a 7am tee time, out of respect to the staff and the rising sun we walked up about 6:40. We were abruptly greeted, and told we need to check in and wear a mask ("of course"). Several gentlemen were sitting around a table drinking coffee as I walked in. I stood in the pro shop for a moment and was met by a gentleman who seemed bothered I was there. All said, we felt like we were out of place and not welcomed to a municipal course. I've felt this cold shoulder at Country Clubs in the Rochester, NY area, but never at a Par 3, much less a municipal course. Outside the greeting, the course was nice and challenging for a beginner/novice
I give this course a 4 but staff a 2. If I wanted to be treated like an outsider, I'd book a tee time at National or another members only country club.
