Laurel Hill Golf Club
About
Laurel Hill Golf Club has some of the best conditions of any public course in the area, which is why it is popular amongst the locals. It is hard to believe that the club sits where the DC Department of Corrections facility at Lorton used to be located. The layout has a traditional design, but unlike older golf courses it runs a lengthy 7,102 yards from the back tees. The greens are lightning fast and undulating. There is defined contouring throughout the course, which allows for some interesting holes. Although the fairways are wide open they are still punishing towards errant shots. There are dramatic elevation changes throughout the golf course, making a flat lie nearly impossible to find. The course provides a formidable test for even the most seasoned players.

Hole 16, Par 3, 185 yards Photo submitted by EthanZimman on 06/17/2013
As challenging as ever!
The course was in good/great condition.
We got dogged a bit by the Marshall but we're held up sometimes by the group in front of us
The deal thru GoldNow was great pricing!
Challenging
Great condition in most places. Very challenging layout. Greens rolled well.
Great course.
This course has held up well considering there has been almost no rain in the last month. Will gladly come back.
Challenging layout with good conditions
Very challenging layout, especially from the Blues. Some very long par 4s. Generally very good conditions with a few areas of patchy grass. Greens rolled well. Pace of play was right on target 4 hours.
Patchy spots
There are multiple patchy places around the course mostly on the fairways and approach areas. There was a few greens that was patchy as well. This is probably due to the wet weather and heat that we had over the past several weeks.
They must have just cut the rough and fairways as we had lots of grass clippings on you ball.
Due to course conditions, they could have lowered the prices a bit for weekday play. I def wouldn’t pay full rack rate on the weekends..
Great Layout, Horrid Shape
This course has one of the best layouts in the state, but man is it in horrible shape. I played with locals on this day and they told me this is the worst shape the course has ever been in. Greens are extremely inconsistent with hole 14 being basically putting on mud. Every hole has a different speed right now. Layout is top tier, very enjoyable. However, condition is in maybe $40-50 territory, no where near the $130 they charged me. Stay away, this course needs to close for a week to punch and sand. Otherwise, I worry they're risking losing the once great conditions forever.
Spend your money elsewhere in the meantime, when the conditions are good I will be back. However, it is the most disappointing conditions in NOVA right now.
worn but mighty
Greens were in tough shape but the ball rolled ok.
tough track - long but fair
Course was in terrible condition. Greens were half mud and could never get a true roll. Greens were not taken care of. Pace of play was slow, there was no Marshall enforcing the pace if play. For over $90 would not consider playing this course. Go to pohick bay.
Won’t be back
Don’t let the practice green fool you. Course needs a lot of work. They need to at least cut the price down to $50 or less for the horrible conditions. Fairways are worse than the greens.
no good.
The course is expensive and of poor quality. The tee boxes and greens are bad. I don’t recommend playing there.
Just OK conditions
Spotty and bare spots on the greens, and fairways are wet. I guess the course dose not drain very well, since we did have any rain in the area for more than a week.
I also notice that a lot of people do not fix divots on the greens and fairways.
Course Conditions not good right now
Due to the extreme heavy rains and very hot weather, the course is not in very good shape right now and a lot of the turf appears to have died. It's a shame the prices do not reflect the poor condition, but perhaps they are keeping prices high to keep play low. Hopefully, they will have the course back in shape within a month or so. Still fun to play if you don't mind lift and place on fairways and greens.
Condition of both the fairways and the greens was poor - course should up it's education re repairing ball marks.
Great practice facilities.
Friendly staff
Really Really Really Bad
Course is in awful shape. Don't know if this is due to weather, disease, lack of attention or a combination of the three but charging premium rates is pretty brazen considering the course is just a mess. On top of this they've adopted some ridiculous rules. You can't take your cart to the driving range. You can't use range balls on the chipping green. Just stupid stuff.
Conditions are horrible!
Conditions are terrible and it is criminal they are charging full price. Very disappointed and will not be back. Course is in the worst shape I have ever seen it. Fairfax County should be ashamed for charging full price. Stay away. Go to Westfields or Raspberry Falls for the money this joke course is charging. Staff and conditions are night and day better than Laurel Hills. So disappointed.
