Nice day to play golf. With the price of the Hot Deal dropping, we like to play here. Staff was friendly at the check in. Enjoy Life
My round
Always a good time at this course. Challenging but rewarding at the same time.
Great time!
Played the Forest course and the mountain course both were in great shape! For the money probably one of the best courses around the area.. Not to hard but can be if you don't stay in the fairway.
Great Value Good Course
Booked a hot deal via golf now. Great price and good course. Course was in very good shape especially the greens. Pace of play front 9 was great back nine slowed down. Would recommend
Great Value and A Fair Test
I have enjoyed my 4 rounds at this venue. The course is well maintained and the pace of play is monitored quite well, too. The three courses are a fair test for golfers of all abilities. I always check each morning, sometimes late at night to see what great deals there are for these courses. Playing there has been a bright spot in my summer. I will highly recommend this course to all skill level players.
Nice golf course!
Had to play the Mountain 9 twice because of a high school tournament going on, didn't bother us the Mountain 9 is really challenging and the views are awesome. Decided to play another 9 and played the Lake 9 for $1.00 a hole, what a deal!!
Fun course
This was a fun course in excellent condition close to Massanuten resort without the expense of the resort cost. We played mountain and forest course. Forest alittle tighter but still playable. Would play here again. Conditions were excellent particularly greens.
A beautiful course in great condition.
This was my first visit to Lakeview and it was a very pleasant experience. The course is well maintained despite the hot weather and dry conditions. The views are quite spectacular on many holes. I'm looking forward to playing here again very soon.
Great shape
I have played this course many times before, and considering this very dry and hot summer, it was in great shape.
Great course as always
I have played at Lakeview for 34 years. The Mountain Nine is the newest and most challenging. The conditions and especially the views were outstanding! Many visitors from out of town play here and make repeat visits. Best quality for the price I know of anywhere ! You will not be disappointed!
Great value
Course has 3 sets of nine holes. We played Lake to Forest. Some tee boxes were not flat. Fairways were ok with clover and many un-repaired divots. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Paid $26.50 for 18 and a cart. You don't know which nines you play until that day. Rough was thick. Greens were fast and consistent. We played mountain to lake on Tuesday. Mountain course is in best condition.
Lakeview
Great course. Plays very long, but fair. Definitely one of the best layouts in our area.
Not the course it was 5-10 years ago
This is still a good course to play. They have downsize to 27 holes from 36 holes. The course is good shape, but the cart paths need some work. The staff at the Pro shop was not friendly, only reason I said that is I was playing on the Hot deal.Maybe it was me but both times I play there I got the same vibe.
Better Service = Better Rating
UPDATE - See my full review from 6/18/17 for more info.
I've been hard on this course in the past for poor service and management that has led to unnecessary confusion and frustration. So I thought it was only fair to update my rating after my last visit today where I received much improved service.
When I called to schedule a threesome for nine holes, the pro shop attendant was very accommodating and friendly and upon arriving at the course my friends and I had the whole Forest 9 to ourselves and really enjoyed the great playing conditions.
I will now recommend this course to others assuming the service continues to improve. Thanks to Lakeview for being receptive to the feedback!
A Decent Course That Suffers From Poor Management
It had been about a year since I had last played this course, though I only live a few miles from it. Poor service from the staff had left a bad taste but I decided to give it another shot.
The best thing about Lakeview is the course conditions, which are a bit better than the other courses in town like Heritage Oaks and Packsaddle Ridge. The greens are very smooth and semi-fast, the tee boxes, fairways, and rough are lush, green, and even with no clumping, and the bunkers are well looked after. There are ball marks and divots here and there but the course does not appear overplayed. On the day I played with thunderstorms in the forecast, pace of play was very good, I walked 18 on my own in under 3 hours.
For those who have not played here before (or in the last year or so) the course layout has changed with the closure of Spring 9. They’ve created Forest 9 in its place so there are still 27 holes, but navigating around the course (especially Forest, which is split in two) can be confusing and cumbersome. This on its own is not a huge deal but the worst thing about this course continues to be the lack of detailed direction and genuine friendliness from the staff. As mentioned before, this factor kept me away for a while and not much has changed. Some fellow golfers had to stop me and ask for directions for the next tee, not something that should happen. The addition of a starter and marshal would really help a lot.
The actual design of the course also leaves something to be desired. They make use of the many hills on the property to give you plenty of elevation changes (though not nearly as drastic and exhausting to walk as nearby Packsaddle Ridge) but there’s little inspiration in the design with the exception of a few water hazards that frame a few holes on Lake 9. The flipside is the course doesn’t play particularly hard (or long), so it’s a good course for beginners. The most difficult aspect I found during my most recent round were the pin positions, where it seemed nearly every hole was cut on a slope, making lag putts bewildering and even tap-ins were a chore.
If you can get a good GolfNow deal (be sure to bring your confirmation with you) you might enjoy playing here once or twice if you’re an avid golfer but I’ll continue to play Heritage Oaks as my home course.
Great layout
When in Harrisonburg Virginia you should make this course a must stop. With four sets of tees this course you will find challenging for all handicap skill levels. The Lake 9 holes rewards straight hitters. Errand tee shots can make scoring difficult. The greens were a little slow but rolled true. On long puts you may want to hit it a little harder than you think. All in all a nice experience.
VA trip
This course was a bit deceiving at first. The club house was not what you would think for a club, but all turned out great the course was nice and they have 3 different 9 hole courses. All are nice and well maintained.
Great views at a reasonable price
Although it is a little off the beaten path, Lakeview is worth it. I played the Spring/Mountain combo after a substantial rain storm. The drainage is very good since the wetness did not affect play one bit. It is not resort level, but certainly an above average local golf course with many pleasant features including creeks, ponds and lovely views of the Shenadoahs. Most of the holes are pretty generous off the tee, especially on the Mountain Nine, but good iron play is necessary for low scores. The greens held, and rolled really nice. It was a fun round of golf in a very serene setting.
Spring - Mountain combo is the best in the area!
The Mountain View 9 holes is the best nine in the area. Combined with the Spring 9, this makes one of the finest 18 holes of golf in the area. Great views, challenging holes; and exceptional well maintained.

The Spring Mountain course is extremely scenic and a fair test of golf. I would not rate it as "extremely difficult"
