Employee in clubhouse refused to wear a mask when asked
Mike, working at the front desk, refused to wear a mask when asked. We reminded him that the governor mandated masks, but he refused to wear one, saying we could wear one, but he would not. He then said he did not want to discuss it, any further. After some time, he refunded our money and we left.
Great Track!
The golf course was a lot of fun! Greens were in great shape, much better than other courses in the area. The staff is always very friendly and personable. The food was fresh and fast. Great people and a great family atmosphere at Rapidan.

ABSOLUTE WORST TRACK IN VIRGINIA - BY FAR! THE PEOPLE AREN'T MUCH BETTER! RUDE, TONE DEAF, ETC.... GO PLAY SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!
still open and playable
The course has 2 holes closed till the spring, so you most play 2 hole over again. This is not a problem since its winter and not busy.....course still needs work but for the right price its OK...

Getting Better
Played this course last during the winter. The course has improved vastly over the past 2 years. Quite remarkable what they have been able to do with what is obviously a very small budget.
Putting green was under construction, and no driving range hurts them.
Staff is always incredibly friendly.
Winter Conditions Excellent
Played while in town for Christmas with my family. Usually greens in the winter are rough and tumble, but these greens were rolling very fast and smooth. You can tell they are doing a lot of maintenance to the golf course, including the greens. My brother plays here all the time and says the improvements over the past year have been incredible. It is his favorite course to play in the area.

Not good
Probably the worst course I’ve ever played .only played 13 holes and I don’t know why I didn’t stop after 9 . Course have a great lay out and could be a good place to play with a lot of maintenance .

Great layout course conditions suffering
Almost all greens have spots where it's just sand. Hole 8 is a joke they have a temporary "flag" in the middle of the fairway as the green is closed and hole 17 was completely closed. Fairways were descent and teeboxs were non existant if you play the tips. I play here every few months or so and this time the conditions were the worst I've seen since the course reopened

Challenging coarse
Rapidan is a challenging course for an average golfer definitely worth the money and play of pace is great
Cons
Had 2 holes out of commission but played other holes to make up for the 18
I’m an advanced golfer and play average 3xs a week this course is now my home course with 4 others that are 25-30 mins away from me this is definitely worth it to play a round.
Constantly getting better.
I have started to play this course pretty regularly now that the conditions have vastly improved. Greens are great, tee areas are getting better. The staff is the friendliest staff around, by a mile. They have two holes closed until next year but they allow you to play other holes again to make up for it.
Closed hole, slow greens
Greens are/were super slow. Could tell the greens were lost, didn’t seemed to have been mowed in quite sometime. Roots were really shallow. Then hole 17 is closed with zero notice from the staff. Paid full price to only get 17 holes. I like the layout just think they could’ve given some $$ off for the conditions.

Always Improving
We played this coarse on Labor Day Weekend. It was in decent shape. The kid at the counter said the greens were aerated a few days ago, and they were in good shape. We love the coarse and will always come back. Looking forward to seeing the coarse once they get everything into great shape.
Terrible
This was the worst course I have ever played on. Every green was patchy. The tee boxes grass was high. I don't have enough time to write everything that was wrong with this course but I will never play here again!

Our apologies that you didn't enjoy your round. I have to ask, how did you miss the plethora of signs around the Pro Shop and course explaining that the greens were just aerated 6 days ago, would be very slow and bumpy, and were undergoing slight renovations to bring them back to their originally planned sizes? The tees are unfortunately a mess right now. It is our major fall project, to renovate them and get them back into shape. Finishing rehabbing the bunkers is also high on our priority list.
Next time you play please feel free to ask questions about whats going on around the course. Everything that we are currently working on is also posted on signage all around the property.
Challenging but fun
This coarse is challenging and fun definitely recommend playing it.
Greens and tee boxes have improved so much from a month ago. Can’t. Wait till next week so I can play it again.

I am just a beginner but this course has a lot of fun. It has become one of my favorite courses not too busy and different scenery all around

My recommendation would be to place signs showing distance from tee box to hazards or waste areas or the carry needed. Hole number 8 especially, but also on 2,10, and 12.
I believe this would speed up play and make it more joyable.
Not everyone has electronics to show hazards, etc.

I'm also curious as to why you would leave a review Mr. Jones. Let's look at the situation that occurred:
You were caught playing golf on the course while it was closed, and became upset that we asked you to leave. You then threatened our associate, asking him to come over and see you at your house.
While you may live adjacent to the golf course, the property is PRIVATE. It does not give you the right to play any time you want (including with your walk cart you keep on your back patio).
Please stay off of Rapidan Golf Club's property.
