Great course
We had a great round. Great conditions but there were lots of leaves making it difficult to find balls off fairway. Pro shop staff was great and very friendly.
Nice course, friendly staff, good value
This course is an interesting and enjoyable layout. Usually in great shape, as it was this time also. Staff are great, good snack bar, and comfortable pace of play. A very good value. My only, minor complaint relates to the time of year...there were fallen leaves in the fairways so it was often difficult to find your ball even after a quality shot to the middle of the fairway. Perhaps they do not have the high power leaf blowers to clear the leaves from the fairways. You will enjoy this course. Give it a try.
Great bang for your buck!
If you can score a hot deal at this location, you won't be disappointed. The course is tight, with houses on either side on most holes. Plus side is lost balls can usually be located with fairly little effort. Staff is friendly and informative. For this time of year, the course is in nice shape. Only complaint was things were a little wet on a day where there hadn't been any rain recently, causing a few areas to get muddy. The carts are electric and have ball washer & club washer mounted on them, a nice bonus.
Lake of the woods
Playing in October can be challenging with the leaves falling but all the fairways were clean even though we played in the afternoon. The course conditions were good overall with the greens being in really nice shape. The grass on the tee boxes were a little high but not an issue. The.course layout is what makes this course special. Doglegs and elevation changes make this course fun and challenging. A must play if you are in the area.
Always a fun and enjoyable playing at this course!
I believe this is my 5th time playing this Course this year. Wish it was close to my home then would play every other day, hey, I got to work on other days:-). The Course is always clean, even at this season with all these leaves. Even lot of rough areas are clean enough to find the ball but if the grass is too tall or in the woods, then you know. Luckily, I don't go in woods or in rough. My distance is short so I don't get in trouble lol. The fairway is really nice, as before I remember but it is getting bit hard as season is changing, still makes good divots. Greens are still fast. They are not perfect but way above conditions compare to other courses. For the rate you pay, it is well worth it. I hope I can go back there soon [its about 52 min distance from me]
Private course, now open to public, NICE!
Played at here couple times whenever my buddy takes me since it's been a private course. Very nicely maintained course as you expect from private club (not much as $100,000 membership course, but in REALLY, LOT BETTER CONDITION compare to most of public course. Fairway was r wry nice if I remembered but it might be the season, the fairway is about average this time however, the green is still nice, firm and fast. It's kind of tight as you will see trees hugs along the each holes.
Some holes are long and some are short so it's really fun for every handicap. As I've been to lot of courses, it's always nice to see the ball rolls smoothly into the hole, that's the kinda green we all golfers want, right? Go play here if you get a chance!
Treat to play
Never leave this course unhappy. The layout really challenges the right handed golfer, especially if there is a fade (slice) in your swing. Majority of the holes are dogleg left with fairways that lean to the right. Will be playing here quite often, even though it is a bit of a drive from Manassas.
Great value
First time playing this course. Well worth the money. Great value. Staff is very friendly very and reasonable prices in the restaurant. Definitely coming back. Lots of dogleg lefts.
A great day
The course was well maintained and a pleasure to play. Good fairways and good greens. I wil go back.
What a treat!
So glad that Golfnow was able to hook up with Lake of the woods. Played here a couple of years ago with a member. The conditions are fantastic, and some of the most friendly people that you will ever meet. Wish it was closer to home. It takes me an hour and twenty minutes to get there, but it is worth the drive. They will be seeing a lot of me in the future.
The course is in very good shape! Will play it again soon!
Great course
The course is very playable and extremely challenging. It is becoming one of my favorite courses in the area.
Beautiful course.
First time playing. The course is very nice. It was under construction. The first two par 3s were very short on the day I played because of the construction. It is in a neighborhood. You have to continue to cross streets. And there are tons of houses. But over all. The course is very nice. The clubhouse is very nice also. But the grill was down for a gas line install. But I will definitely play again. And refer friends. And hopefully I can eat something off the grill next time I am there.
Lake of the Woods
As this was my first time playing here, I was impressed with the course. Playing on a Friday afternoon, I was surprised at how empty the course was. Nice layout, friendly staff. Would definitely return.
Hidden Gem
We played this for the first time although seen it many times driving down route 3. Course was in great shape. Greens were challenging but very fair. Fairways and tee boxes were excellent. Twilight rate with cart was a super deal. I recommend playing this course, I loved it.
A solid course all around!
I visited this course for the first time and was surprised at the great course conditions. Nice Bermuda fairways and even though the greens had apparently been aerated about three weeks prior and you could still see aeration holes, the putts rolled smoothly on the average-pace greens. Bunkers were just ok--I thankfully avoided most of them.
A word of caution, if you miss the fairway by more than 15 yards (especially left) you're likely to lose the ball out of bounds in someone's back yard. The course is tightly nestled amongst the gated community of Lake in the Woods and I was unfortunately hitting it left most of the day.
The layout itself is nothing spectacular and I was held up on a few holes while a tournament finished up but still finished my round in just over 3 hours. On top of that, everyone I encountered was very friendly. In talking with some of them they mentioned that you likely can have the whole course to yourself on Sunday afternoons, a rarity.
I didn't see a chipping green (though I'm sure no one would have objected to chipping to the putting green) but I did stop in for some lunch afterwards and found the prices on the menu very agreeable (plus breakfast served all day), so high marks for off course amenities.
I wished I lived closer because I would frequent this course more often, would definitely recommend if you are in the area.
