Victoria Golf Course was easily the worst golf course I have ever played. The course was in shockingly poor condition and felt completely neglected. Calling this a playable full-size golf course is generous—the overall experience was frustrating from beginning to end.

I understand that public courses will not always be pristine, but there is a minimum level of maintenance and playability that golfers should reasonably expect when paying for a round. Victoria did not come close to meeting that standard. The course should either be substantially repaired or customers should be clearly warned about its condition before they book.

I would not return, and I cannot recommend it to anyone in its current state. There are far better public courses where your time and money will not feel completely wasted.

I recently had an extremely uncomfortable and concerning experience at Victoria Golf Course that left me questioning the safety of playing here.

I was playing the back nine, initially paired with a young couple. We were keeping pace, but several groups ahead of us were causing significant delays. After waiting for an extended period, the couple I was paired with became frustrated and left. As a single golfer, I decided to play ahead rather than continue waiting behind the backup.

I moved from the 10th hole to the 17th hole, where I encountered a group of four. Another group of three was also playing slowly on a par 3. When I reached the 17th, the group of four was still on its fourth shot. I teed off, completed the hole, and proceeded toward the 18th.

At that point, one of the players approached me. He was a Latino man who appeared to be in his late 30s or early 40s and was heavyset. He told me his group was playing in a tournament. I explained that golfers had not been informed of a tournament and that the slow pace had created a significant backup on the back nine. As a single player, I had moved ahead to keep my round moving.

He told me his group was upset that they had to wait for me to finish the hole, told me I should play somewhere else, and threatened me, telling me to do the right thing. I found this confrontation intimidating and unacceptable. I told him I would finish my final hole and leave.

After finishing, I immediately went to management to report the incident. Management apologized, but when I requested a refund, it was declined. I was offered a complimentary round with a cart instead. I explained that I no longer felt safe at the course and had no intention of returning. Management took my contact information and told me to contact them when I was ready to play again.

As a 48-year-old African American man, I left feeling intimidated and wondering whether race played a role in how I was treated. I cannot speak to the other player's intentions, but the interaction left me feeling unwelcome and unsafe.

My biggest concern is the apparent lack of effective course supervision and player-safety procedures. When pace-of-play disputes escalate into intimidation and threats, golfers should not be left to resolve the situation among themselves. If a tournament was scheduled, golfers should have been informed, and pace of play should have been managed appropriately.

An apology and an offer to play another round do not address my underlying concern. I wanted a resolution to the incident, not an invitation to return to a place where I no longer feel comfortable.

Until Victoria Golf Course demonstrates that it can effectively manage pace of play, communicate tournament schedules, and respond appropriately to threatening behavior between players, I cannot recommend it based on my experience.

Golfers should be able to enjoy their round without being intimidated or threatened. Player safety must come first.

This is by far the worse golf course on the planet earth!!! In my 35 plus years of golfing I have never seen a place so disastrous! There are ABSOLUTELY NO FAIRWAYS! It’s all dirt and mud and patches of weeds. 80-90% dirt and mud!!! This place is an embarrassment to the game of golf and should be shut down immediately!!! I paid $54 and stopped after 6 holes—-couldn’t take it anymore hitting off hard dirt or losing balls in the middle of fairway to being buried in mud!

I don't want to be mean, but I could not believe this course as allowed to be open. Most of the course, including the fairways, was literal mud and dirt. It blew my mind that they were actually operating. I thought maybe this was a temporary situation but when I asked around I was told that it's been like this for years. Take a look from Google Maps and see for yourself. I did myself and thought that must be an old overview photo when the course was under construction but no.

The staff was nice and friendly, I can at least say that positive thing about the visit.

Players looking for a grass filled experience will be saddened as it seems they forgot to include it. Great amount of bugs though

This was the absolute worst golf course I’ve ever been to. The fairways are either dirt, dirt/rocks, or weeds. To make things worse there are so many gopher holes everywhere that even hitting the ball down the middle doesn’t guarantee you’ll find it. And if you hit the ball out of bounds you shouldn’t go looking for it around the bushes because there are signs everywhere to watch out for rattlesnakes. My clubs took a beating. I chipped my 3 wood because of the little pebbles in the fairway. I can’t overemphasize how bad the whole experience was. To be fair there were about 3 holes that were half way decent. I would have asked for my money back, but I would rather just make the point of not going back ever again. It goes without saying that I’m not going to be recommending this course to anyone.

Nice Par 3 course and local. Pricing is FAIR but early in the morning Tee times are very hard to enjoy when they are cutting and watering the greens to the MAX. The ball does not roll

The last time I played Victoria Golf Club was 30 years ago. At that time, it was one of the finest public golf courses in the Los Angeles County area. Even today, the layout of the course is terrific, however, the overall condition of the golf course was absolutely deplorable and the worst that I have ever seen in the 50 years that I’ve been playing golf. To have a course that literally has fairways with no grass and are made of mud, hard pan, gopher holes, and every now and then a clump of grass makes absolutely no sense and I can’t believe that this course is still open for business. I will say that the greens were in very nice shape and putted extremely well which makes it doubly hard to believe the overall condition of the course again, it was horrible and Los Angeles County should be a shame to charge the rates that it charges for this golf course given its condition. I will never play it again, and I will never recommend it to any of my friends who play golf. The court deserves better and so do the players who play this course on a regular basis.

Sure a lot of the fairways are dirt but the layout and greens make it worth the price. Great for practicing if you’re a beginner and trying to learn! The carts aren’t the fastest but if you want a lowkey course that’s more easy to medium to play then try it out.

Was VERY disappointed with the condition of the whole place

Wow. Sadly this is barely a golf course because 90% of it has zero fairway or even grass. The greens were remarkably good but it couldn’t make up for the conditions overall.
