About
The 18-hole Dogwood Trace Golf Course (formerly known as Lee Park Golf Course) in Petersburg, VA is a public golf course. Stretching over 6600 yards from the back tees while playing to a par 72 the course features four different sets of tee boxes and can be enjoyed by players of all skill levels. Players will find extensive bunkering lakes and ponds with bulkheads that come into play on several holes and well-manicured challenging greens.

Fantastic Off-the-Radar Gem
Wonderfully maintained course! I’m used to playing a lot of Midlothian courses, but the extra 30 min drive down to Petersburg was well worth it. Fun course layout, challenging and forgiving where necessary. If you lose your ball here, you probably deserved to lose it - as the roughs are well cut and still extremely playable. I’ll definitely be back! Staff was great too!

Early Tuesday Morning Round
Got out at 8:30am so was by myself and nobody in front of me. So no issue with pace. Staff was friendly, especially the Marshall. Greens were in pretty good shape. For the price it’s a fun course. Not super difficult.

Course always impresses, good bang for your buck!
Still a little wet from the weekend deluge, played a little longer than normal because of this. I’m always impressed with their greens. They were in great shape. Bermuda rough is starting to go dormant, did not help me any though...tricky but fair. Love the 9th hole. Tree lined back 9 always seems to be more work, then again if you are straight, it’s not an issue. Pro Shop is still closed, thank you Covid-19, we are putting you on the clock!.

Visitor round
I live in the Nashville TN area and visiting Petersburg. Picked Dogwood Trace to “scratch the golf itch” and couldn’t have chosen a better course. Loved the layout and the conditions were excellent. Thanks to the staff for the obvious hard work they do. I will be back whenever the opportunity comes.

Good course, slow round
Nice course. Friendly staff. Reasonably priced. Slow on the weekends with casual golfers. Overall nice course with with nice people

Quick round
Pace of play was beyond excellent as we played as twosome in 2 hours and 35 minutes with only a threesome in front of us and they let us thru when we caught them on 10th tee. Greens have crabgrass encroaching on edges of most of them and were not real smooth. Was 93+ degrees and no water or beverage cart on course. Sand traps showed a lot of work since last time we were here which was after the monsoon on August 15-16-17.
Overall it was much much better than most courses recently especially magnolia green and birkdale!!

Great conditions
The course looked great however I feel like it was overbooked. At least 10 minutes of wait time between each shot. 3 or more groups on every hole. Tee times need to be spaced out more.

Amazing course conditions but would be worth paying 5 more bucks a round for phenomenal greens.
Great layout and fairway to rough course conditions. Excellent sand in bunkers. Greens are a bit slow and could be improved upon. However, I do know what this value holds compared to courses like Providence where the rates are high and the greens are slower.

Dogwood Greens
Tee boxes, fairways, bunkers all in good shape. Seems like no one is fixing ball marks or repairing greens. Layout of course was average and would recommend course to my friends.

Great municipal course
On first time going, this course exceeded expectations. It has been used for local school events in the past. Obviously with the shutdown it may have had the best time to get to peak condition. Tight in general, some elevation challenges. Greens in very good condition as well as fairways.
Unfortunately, no amenities at this time.

A gem in Petersburg! From the tee boxes to the putting surface, course was in fantastic shape!
Player friendly yet some challenging holes especially Par 3’s from the back tees...
