About
The 18-hole Dogwood Trace Golf Course (formerly known as Lee Park Golf Course) in Petersburg, VA is a public golf course. Stretching over 6600 yards from the back tees while playing to a par 72 the course features four different sets of tee boxes and can be enjoyed by players of all skill levels. Players will find extensive bunkering lakes and ponds with bulkheads that come into play on several holes and well-manicured challenging greens.

A good playable course, not to hard, not to easy.
The course is always in good shape. I drive 50 minutes to play it. A course has to be in good shape for me to drive that far when I have other courses closer to me.

Dogwood in November
Can't really say enough about this course, for a city owned public course it's in good shape. Greens were nice, not overly fast but not slow either. Some ball markings but not bad, no invasive grass on the greens. Fairways were nice, Bermuda rough swallows golf balls and leaves .. Some tee boxes could use some work but most are ok. Pace of play was decent considering it was crowded and beautiful out. 75 and sunny. I would recommend anyone to give this course a go. The back nine is the more difficult for any one interested.

After the rain
It rained hard just 2 days ago and the fairways and greens were sloppy wet with standing water in dozens of places Course should have been cart path only cuz now there are hundreds of tire mark ruts all across every fairway. The greens need a major ball mark repair program to teach everyone how to repair their ball mark plus two others. Also need to have ranger on course to speed up the slow groups.

Fantastic Off-the-Radar Gem
Wonderfully maintained course! I’m used to playing a lot of Midlothian courses, but the extra 30 min drive down to Petersburg was well worth it. Fun course layout, challenging and forgiving where necessary. If you lose your ball here, you probably deserved to lose it - as the roughs are well cut and still extremely playable. I’ll definitely be back! Staff was great too!

Early Tuesday Morning Round
Got out at 8:30am so was by myself and nobody in front of me. So no issue with pace. Staff was friendly, especially the Marshall. Greens were in pretty good shape. For the price it’s a fun course. Not super difficult.

Course always impresses, good bang for your buck!
Still a little wet from the weekend deluge, played a little longer than normal because of this. I’m always impressed with their greens. They were in great shape. Bermuda rough is starting to go dormant, did not help me any though...tricky but fair. Love the 9th hole. Tree lined back 9 always seems to be more work, then again if you are straight, it’s not an issue. Pro Shop is still closed, thank you Covid-19, we are putting you on the clock!.

Visitor round
I live in the Nashville TN area and visiting Petersburg. Picked Dogwood Trace to “scratch the golf itch” and couldn’t have chosen a better course. Loved the layout and the conditions were excellent. Thanks to the staff for the obvious hard work they do. I will be back whenever the opportunity comes.
