Ottawa Park Golf Course

User-Friendly front 9. A tad tad tougher on the back nine. Definitely overpriced but well- kept

I really enjoyed the challenge of the course’s layout but major work is still needed on the greens and fairways.

First, between hot deal and golf now credit we only paid $20 for 18 and cart….so that lowered our expectations. First, the positives. Staff is super friendly and the pace of play was excellent…we finished in 3 hours, which is pretty awesome on a Friday afternoon. The negatives…greens were terribly slow. Not expecting country club speed, but they’re the slowest I’ve played this year at a public course. Multiple greens/fairways had burnout spots, which was surprising considering the weather has been awesome. Overall, for what we paid we received fair value.

Of course was very nice. People were friendly and each hole was a challenge. The pace of play was very fast. I let two groups go past us as we played and a third one was on our heels. Kind of new to this coughing thing so maybe that's why Phil would recommend this course to anyone. It was a little more expensive than most

I play Ottawa Park a few times every year and have done so for many years. This was the first time I have been to the course this year. Starting with the positive, the #11 green that has been diseased forever is finally back and in good shape. Also, the new carts are a much needed addition. On the negative, the course was looking shabby. At the first tee we were greeted with the ground torn up and tall grass around the tee box. The rest of the course could have used a trim as well. Every sand bunker was loaded with grass and weeds. They also could use more staff. While waiting on the #16 tee I watched a group of teenagers drive a golf cart across the #9 green. I phoned the clubhouse to report it. Additionally we had a group of teenagers in front of us on the back nine that were doing a lot of horseplay. I'm not the best golfer so don't get too riled when I have to wait but when three groups are waiting to tee off someone should be marshalling the course. Davey Golf had been contracted with the City of Toledo to operate the course the past few years and did a wonderful job. I had not seen the course in such nice condition in a long time. The operators prior to Davey seemed to be focused on just cutting grass and squeezing as much money out of the course that they could get. I'm sorry to say that the impression I got is that the course is returning to the what it was. I hope the new operators, Oliphant Golf, will putt more effort into maintaining the course moving forward plus the City of Toledo needs to monitor this as well. Ottawa Park is a historic golf course, second oldest public course in the US, and it should be well maintained.

This course was kind of turning into a dump to be honest, but I knew the city was putting some effort into rennovating the local municipal courses over the past few years.

I did this round by myself, and scored a tee time where i was not with a group, so my pace was pretty quick but I also had time to take in the sights... It's well maintained, fairways were as they should be, tee boxes were in great shape, greens were rolling hot (like i like them!) and I have no real complaints

The only issue i had was the water on hole 4 is very deceiving.. I hit my ball onto what looked like a small pile of leaves in front of the pond... so I walked up, poked around a little, stepped up to address the ball (which required me to step onto this leaf pile.. wich felt like solid ground to be honest) and suddenly i FELL THROUGH the leaves and was knee-deep in swamp water and swimming with snakes and frogs.

I played out the rest of my round pretty much barefooted and still managed to have a great time (aside from my newly aquired fragrance) :)

All things considered, I had a great time. I just got back into golfing end of season last year for the first time since my neck surgery in 2017 and I made 8 of the 11 par 4's in regulation and got my first two birdies since coming back (i think playing a round by myself helped....)

I highly reccomend checking this place out again if you've had a bad experience in the past.. It's improved beyond belief, and i'm glad they're taking care of it.. I'm going to try out the other city courses soon.. The one thing i do like is that this iisn't set up like some of the other super-tightly-back-and-forth city courses, the holes are spaced out nicely (if you've been to heatherdowns CC you know what i'm talking about with the side-by-side stuff.. i don't like that "city setup" ... This course isn't like that at all.)

17 and 18 are the holes that will make or break your game... hero shots or laying up.. .I think 17 could use a little work to get a bigger gap over the water, but that's my only complaint (other than the deceptive hole 4 swamp lol)

Course was in overall decent shape. Lots of maintenance ongoing as we played. Had to wait 12 holes while greens were being rolled ahead of us. Not sure why that had to be done prime time on a Friday?

Course was in good condition especially for this time of year. The staff was very friendly and efficient. I hope they change their par 3 lengths as they were far too short.

The course has been well taken care of and the greens were in excellent condition! Also, the staff was very friendly.

Very short course. All 4 Par 3 courses less than 100 yards. Several drivable Par 4s. In good shape overall.
