South Riding Golf Club
About
South Riding Golf Club is nestled in the gentle hills of northern Virginia, enjoying a landscape of hardwood forests and grassy meadows. The course offers a variety of challenges but the fairways are wide and player-friendly and the greens can be tough in spots but overall they offer some room for error. The layout requires both strategy and skill, it is definitely not a golf course where you will be able to just "grip and rip it." The course pinpoints your weaknesses but it is still a fair test. South Riding Golf Club's eighth hole is memorable for its difficulty but it's an interesting hole sine there are many ways to play it. At 351 yards, the hole is a short but intimidating dogleg left that will tempt you to go over the trees. The fairway is generous but the saddle-shaped green is flanked with bunkers.

Where's the sand
Where roads are sand is not in traps. Told my partner to pick up and drop no need to play out of that junk. As soon as you can see nice homes like #9 beautiful sand. With the high costs of homes in the area many well over a million dollars I would think with the cost of sand we could get those traps filled in. And counter guys lets get a smile on. Beer cart would have been great it was only 90++ that day n
Good Courses
Good course for all skill levels. Only issues with the course is that they are working on the bunkers on the front 9 so there is no sand in the bunkers and the pace of play was horrible on the back 9.
Good course
A nice golf experience. Don't miss the fairway by much or you will pay the price. Course was in nice shape except the bunkers which are under repair
Still no sand
Got the hot deal and found why
The green was aerated, which happened.
But was surprised to see many of sand hazzards were empty, apparently for fairly long time. Could even see some grasses came out of the dried mud there.
Good Course for the weekender
We had a wonderful weekend golf outing with all over all good conditions and fairly challenging putting green. Wide open fairway for the driver shots and flat course is little boring but once you get to the green, you will enjoy puttings
Avwrage
The course was good except for the maintenance. Traps were horrid and the fairways need love. Hopefully will be better in a couple weeks
course has challenging greens
Need to play course more often to understand the slopes of the greens. In certain holes, very difficult to read greens and judge speed, but was quite challenging.
Decent course
Round takes a while... Seems mostly due to long rides between holes. Course was in pretty good shape considering it's end of winter and snow had only melted off days before.
Decent course
Course is overall a good course. Sand traps had rock and dirt in most traps and driving range was closed. Other than that, greens were fast and true and for mid-March course was overall decent
First Time at South Riding
I really enjoyed the course. For the time of year (mid-March) the course was in decent shape. I will definitely play it again later in the season after it's had time to get more lush. I tried to play it last year but couldn't get it together.
not a easy course
Nice course at this season. Fairways are clean with leaves.
good course, staff not so friendly
The bunkers in front nine are under repair, back nine bunkers are great. The course overall plays good. Few of staff members are really mean and unfriendly.
great course but lousy customer service
First time playing this course. Walked in and I thought the counter person was very rude. Was not welcoming and didn't explain anything. Felt he was somewhat racist. Got some range balls. Saw another person in front of the mats on the grass using a tee and hitting off the grass. Saw there were plenty of divots on the grass. Started doing it myself and that same person from the counter yelled from deck "get that guy off the grass!". So apparently only some people can hit off the grass. Maybe it's cuz I'm Hispanic. Don't know. Like this course but only gripe is the greens. No one fixes the ball divots, this is not so much the course but the people that golf here. Maybe there are too good to fix their own divots. I've been back and second time I did not see that gentlemen from my first visit. I'll be back for sure.
Always love a new course to play.
Don't know why it took so long to get here. Great layout fair yet challenging. Was very disappointed in bunkers on the front nine, and glad to see the great work being done on the bunkers on the back nine. Lucky for me I didn't have to deal with them on either nine. I will definitely be back.
Course is attempting to be "upscale"
Excellent layout, difficult greens. Greens are excellent;fairways are excellent;some of the traps need work.
Windy day
Very windy with no rain. The course was in good shape.
Pleasantly surprised.
Haven't played there in a while and was pleasantly surprised. Will definitely return. Not sure why they don't suspend a few $ and upgrade the range. Might be the worst range at a very nice course.
Good course
Always enjoy my round here. Well kept and always great pace of play.
Nice Course
This is my second time in three weeks playing this course. It is a wonderful track with well maintained fairways and greens. It rained for two days prior to our tee time, so we had a 30 minute start time delay and soggy fairway conditions. The staff was communicative and apologetic - making it easier to bear.
My only request would be to PLEASE fill the sand traps. We had to lift and place outside the traps due to the compact (and wet) conditions.
Great layout.
Tea boxes, fairways and greens were great. Pace was good. The only change I would make is free standing ball washers at each hole rather then those tiny washers attached to the cart. Also would like to see SOAP in all washers at all times at all courses. Why is that so difficult?????? Oh, one other thing and that is more yardage markers on the fairways. A stake at 200, 150 & 100 would do it.
