Public Gem
Red wing has improved the course by fixing the drainage problem. It was a nice surprise to see the updates. The greens were in great shape, fairways were good, tee boxes need some work. The tee boxes were very hard and difficult to insert a tee. The back nine is still scenic and challenging. Great course for a public park.
Please roll the greens
Everything was good with this course except the greens were so bumpy and hard to putt on these greens. I get it, the weather was hot and I believe that the super was letting the greens grow as to not kill them. But, I think if they would have rolled them, it would result in an outstanding course
Red wing in the summer
Hot dry fairways - greens shaggy and slow but still love the layout setting typical summer conditions
Slow greens
Course was an average condition, but the greens were exceptionally slow and very bumpy kind of disappointing, but should improve after Mondays aeration coming
Course good shape
The greens are coming in very nice true pots have no complaints about the course need the little little bit of water on the tea boxes that's about it other than that course in good condition
Pace
We had a single playing up on us the front 9. We let him play through and he slowed down everything.
Not sure why he was sent out.
Pace of Play
I really like the course layout; scenic with no houses or other buildings along the perimeter. Lots of wildlife. As with most courses in VA Beach, drainage is a challenge...but doing OK with that. The real distractor was pace of play. Waited to hit every shot. For a course set up at about 6,000 from the whites, difficulty is not the issue.
A regular go-to
Been playing this course since the late 80’s. Over the years they have made numerous improvements and it shows. The course was in very good shape. Only 2 greens I saw had some small bare spots, otherwise they were excellent. None are overly tricky.
Upgraded carts with GPS.
Nice layout
Greens were a little bumpy, fairways in good condition and layout nice. Overall nice course and i will be back.
Some of the greens required improvement in consistency.
