“Try it Again For the First Time”
Nestled in an old Virginia Beach Community off Rosemont Road, Bow Creek has been a course i’ve played all my life. As a high School golfer in 1980, we’d play the course in tournaments and for practice.
I lost track of the course for 35 years, until recently, when I joined a membership to a conglomerate of public courses in the area 2 years ago. In recent years, they have a nice clubhouse next to a state of the art Recreation Center.
I particularly like that after 3pm, it’s “wide open” to walk a quick 9 holes. I also like that, despite being “old school”, from the back tees,, I use ALL my clubs. Great for practice.
During the summer the greens roll well and the course is green. The bunkers need a lot work, but “don’t hit it there”. During the winter, the fairways are not as green and the trees dumping all over without being racked risks losing a ball.
Although it has changed in 40 years, I’m glad I was reintroduced to the club and , because it’s close to the office, I can walk 9 in less than 1 1/2 hours and get home before dinner. The staff is courteous and helpful, occasionally letting me walk off the back 9 .
It’s off the beaten path of newer courses in the area, but it’s a “Diamond in the Rough” and a great value and worth the effort to find.
Good everyday course
I play this course regularly. The layout is not bad, long enough without being too long. It is what I call a mother nature course meaning the course will be as good as the weather allows. Grass in the middle of the fairways but can be sparse on the edges where it is shaded. It is a good everyday course, but if I was here on vacation and I could only play one course, it would not be this one.
disappointed
Course in poor condition, ie poor grass in fairways, limbs hanging over tee boxes, sand traps were mud traps, not manicured at all. Had to keep carts on cart paths and the course was in poor condition to begin with.

This course could use some work.
Could have been time of year (early spring), but greens needed cutting and fairways needed seeding. I would have to rate this course as poor.
Terrible course conditions
played this course many times and going downhill for awhile now. Fairway grass ankle deep. Right down the middle you have to dive around to find ball nestled into grass. Sand traps have not been maintained for months, no sand they are just mud holes, zero sand in traps. No course marshal to maintain pace of play. No starter so pretty much a friendly free for all. Green were really slow. I have played this course over 50 times but most likely the last.. snack bar does not appear sanitary. Carts are junk, Wife cut finger on sharp edge of ball caddy on cart.

Bow Creek
After days of rain. The course was still playable and enjoyable. Great price and friendly staff.
Great time
Staff was helpful and friendly. For the most part it is a fun course. Ts were a bit shaggy. Fairways were slightly overgrown. Greens were great and that is what counts. I really enjoy playing there.
A Below Average City Course
The greens are very small and hard to hit. The par 3 holes on the front nine are very difficult, and the par 5 8th hole is a challenge with a creek running across it.

Not worth the $40 more like $20
The tee boxes were in poor condition. Fairways were not maintained. Greens were good and the ball rolled nicely. I do not recommend you play this course unless it is under $20 or Free.

As far as the raincheck goes, sounds like you prepaid for a Hot Deal on GolfNow. When this is the case, no money is paid to the pro-shop so there is no money that is owed back from the course. You may have booked other course times through GolfNow and that is why you were able to obtain a raincheck. If you call GolfNow, they would be happy to rectify the situation. We hope this clears any confusion up and we hope you give us another try in the future.

I was booked twice for the same reservation. Was only for two people. Bow creek said there was nothing they could do for me. I tried cancelling one of the reservations an hour before but was denied by you. I have been trying to call you but can never get through. Your either closed or having technical difficulties. I would like my money back please or a credit to use another time.

Worst course in Virginia Beach
-Tee boxes are like a batters box in baseball with all the sand.
- hit balls in the middle of the fairway and you're hitting off sand.
-Some holes don't even have fairways.
-bunkers are where all this sand should be...but they're frustratingly devoid of sand
-The man behind the counter with the Clemson hat is nothing but rude.
-play elsewhere. This place just isn't worth it

The grass
They could city the grass a little better and fix up the dry spots.

Good for the money
For first timers clubhouse is out behind the back left of the parking lot, over the bridge, and around the maintenance shed. Need a few more signs I was lost and ended up Having to follow someone in a cart to find the clubhouse. Highlight of this course is the people that work here. I’ve played golf up and down the east cost and this place has the best staff and the clubhouse is nice for a city course. The course is your average city course. Greens and bunkers in good shape, some of the fairways have some hard dead places but overall it’s good. Also one of the better layouts for a city courses. Great value and will be back.

nice course
not a bad city course.. bunkers are hard as a rock, and the fairways had lots of bare spots... i would only play here if I used golf now for a discount..

Nice and convenient
Played Bow Creek since 1984. Good place to keep up golfing skills and enjoy playing with family and neighbors. A great course to walk ; cart use is a bit of an overkill given the size of the course. Word on the street is that Bow Creek's days are numbered and it will become a storm water management site to control flooding in the area. Very sad to see that happen.
