Golf Bidwell Park GC
Bidwell Park is beautiful and the golf course is the gem that sits in the middle of it. It is in a beautiful canyon and runs alongside Chico Creek which comes into play on 2 holes. Oak studded fairways and beautiful lush green grass direct you to greens that are quick but not too quick. A lot of work has been done on the greens and they are all in GREAT shape. Deer and jackrabbits share the course with you and the overall effect is visually stunning and very relaxing. It can be narrow in parts and with so many trees you can end up in jail if you miss a fairway. Most of the greens are pretty straight forward, but 17 is a real mother bear if the pin is anywhere on the front 2/3 of the green. I highly recommend this course.
Course condition
The best course condition in over 20 years of my playing the course!
Great work.
fun muni
conditions of the course is average for a muni where money is not flowing from the city coffers. But the layout and location is great. It is a fun course with a few challenging holes and some easy ones. It has a lot of trees and wildlife.
Recommendable.
Boswell in the Winter
Played day after a rainstorm so the course was very wet. Tees an traps in great condition, greens were spotty and fairways were very rough. Still with the discount on GolfNow a good value.
Hard & Slow
The course is pleasant to play but the Ranger should encourage players to play quicker. Greens are in good condition and run true.
Deer hang out on many holes.
Course well maintained
Great greens, lousy putting
Driving for show - putting for dough
that is why a came away empty - you know!
lots of trees
Great course ,challenging , fun what more can you ask for its no poppy hills but one of my favorite courses to play the value is fair.
My exp at bidwell
Course has improved over the years and play went smoothly.
Where were the WATER COOLERS
i was disappointed there was no DRINKING WATER on the course!
Nice Course
Greens are rolling very nice! Nice rental clubs, since I haven't brought mine from Atlanta.
Nice public course
The course was in great shape, just a few (very few) places in the first cut of rough that were a little sparse of grass, but fairways were fine. Greens were a little bumpy, so putts hopped a little more than I would have liked. But for a busy public course very fun to play. The staff was extremely friendly and great to deal with. If in Chico get out there and try this place, you won't be disappointed.
Weak
Made tee time online for 1 player INCLUDING CART, during twilight play time. Came to course and they had me paired up with another single, which is fine, but they said we had to take one cart.
There were no other players behind us or playing with us, so I asked why can't we each have our own carts. Explained to them why I wanted my own cart, so we don't have to chase each others balls around.
They gave a weak explanation as to why not, I ended up having to pay extra just to have a cart to myself.
We played 4 holes and caught up to groups in front of us, there was a six some two groups ahead with a empty tee ahead of them, no marshall to be seen, having to wait every hole, needless to say it was slow. played 9, the guy I was playing with gave up (can't blame him). I ended up playing the front nine again because of slow play and no marshall to speed things up. BOGUS!
Rough Greens
Greens are rough right now, very hard and dry. Therefore it's hard to get a bite and they putt a little fast. I've played here before and have never seen it like this. I hope this is not an indication of what this drought is gonna do to the courses around here.
Staff friendly as always, fairways are nice, overall a nice day fighting the greens.
Love this course
Have only had one bad experience on this course with an over zealous Marshall, but haven't seen him since.
Painfully slow
One of the north state's most beautiful courses, the experience is made painful through cruel, slow play. I'm one of those complaining cause it was more than four hours, it was more than FIVE hours. On the back there was a three hole gap in groups and the Marshal did nothing. When are courses going to start ejecting slow groups? There are no clocks, there is no 9 hole check-in required for speed of play, there are no signs and no instructions given requiring a fair pace of play. Courses like this are destroying golf.
Tough greens
Greens were hard and had a lot of sand. Rest of course was in great shape
Greens way too hard. No driving range
The greens were like concrete. Way too hard.. I know we are in a drought but a little water and drilling would help. Also, no driving range at this course.
Beautiful area
The course was beautiful. A couple tee boxes were muddy and some of the fairways brown. Other then that it was pleasant.
