fun course
Well laid out course, with oak and sycamore trees. Smaller greens but fair, some fairly flat others have contours for character. Fun to play, will be back.
Great layout and beautiful scenery
I always enjoy playing this course. The greens and fairways are well maintained and the location is fantastic. It can get crowded but the scenery is so nice to look at that it usually isn't a problem. New golf carts too!
Loved this course, beautiful landscape rolling hill, wildlife, creek running thru, many trees. Course was well maintained.
We thoroughly enjoyed this day of golf. The course was much more than we anticipated, thought it was beautiful, many trees, wide fairways, well maintained as well as the greens. Much wildlife to be enjoyed, many docile deer on every fairway, a creek running thru the course. The staff was very friendly and even this is an old course, it has been upgraded and is a challenge putting on the greens. We would definitely play it again and recommend it to friends.
Course in Good Shape
Have played Bidwell many times over the years with differnent opinions each time...Played again last weekend and the course was in great shape, including the greens. Good fall/winter course to play in Chico area. Pace of play was suprisingly good at about 3:45 round.
Better than scored
If I could rate this a little higher I would. It's in a beautiful park setting with lots of deer roaming through the trees. They always keep the fairways, bunkers and green in good condition. The only drawback is no driving range or alcohol (if you'[re into that). Fair, but challenging the way it is laid out.
Well maintained course. Brand new carts.
This course has 150 yard poles in the middle of the fairway, which I think is a nice touch. Very tame wildlife throughout the course. Clean and functional pro shop. No Driving range, but nice large short game warm-up area. Minor variation between tee blocks. I hope to return soon!
Beautiful place to play but course condition has declined
A really nice experience due to course set up and beauty of surroundings...and North State course choices are limited. New carts are great. However, fairway and green conditions have gone down since I last played there a few months ago. Dry summer conditions make it difficult I'm sure but other courses in the area are doing a better job on maintainance. Although some good deals are available...especially in the afternoon...weekday morning and weekend fees seem too high for the quality of this Municipal course.
Build a driving range...and more will come...
Our first cart ran out of juice at the first hole, but we just walked back and grabbed another. So it wasn't to big of a deal. The thing I don't like about this course is that there is no driving range, indoor or outdoor, to practice at prior to tee time. I would play here ALL the time if they had one, even if it were a smaller indoor simulation or something.
Wildlife Galore
Course is in a State Park and very park-like although the surrounding landscape is dry, hilly, pastureland. The course is inhabited by deer and other wildlife that seem somewhat undisturbed by golfer or golf carts.
Great Muni Course
Wonderful place to play 18. Not extremely challenging, but aesthetics make up for it. Water, hills, geese, deer, and tree lined fairways. If you don't keep the ball in the fairway, bring a 2 or 3 iron to get out from the trees.
Warning that alchohol is not allowed since the woman who gave the land to the public was a leader in the temperance movement.
Nice spring day
My rating for pace of play was only average, but only because everybody was backed up because of a womens mini tournament that morning. This course normally moves very nicely. Greens were in great shape. Springtime is a great time to play Bidwell!
Classic Bidwell
I grew up playing this course and it's just as it always is -- a good course that's in good shape for a very reasonable price. No complaints. And you're in Chico ... what are your other options?
