Whispering Firs Golf Club
About
Whispering Firs Golf Club is one of two courses operated by Joint Base Lewis McChord. The other course, Eagles Pride, is located southwest of Whispering Firs. Designed by Bob Baldock in 1962, Whispering Firs opened on what was then McChord Air Force Base and later became part of Joint Base Lewis McChord. Though it's a military golf course, it's open to the public but don't forget to check in with security at the visitor's center. The layout features well manicured fairways lined with mature trees and challenging rough. The small greens demand accuracy and are made even more difficult with strategically placed bunkers framing the edges. There are some tough doglegs that require conservative play, and water hazards come into play as well. Whispering Firs Golf Club will test a variety of skills but it's not an overly punishing course. Players of all skill levels will be able to enjoy a round here.

Hidden Gem Course
A beautiful course, professional staff, and very reasonable price.
It’s worth the procedures to get onto the installation to play. MacChord AB is a beautiful base away from I5 noise very serene.
Whispering Firs
Bring all of your sticks to navigate this course as there are tricky doglegs requiring accuracy off the tee and in the approach shots. Course is in great shape but the greens were slow due to recent plugging and sanding. Quite a few mole hills - watch your step!
Careful when walking
Nice course and challenging for all skill levels. Watch out for holes caused by moles. My playing partner severely sprained his ankle near tee box.
Greens were well manicured, Excellent driving range and Food was delicious
Military Pass
The golf course was very good and I only say it is in the military zone area and I need to get pass every time.
Good "Starter" Course?
Like this course a lot due to the environment and people who play it. Friendly staff and supporting players for a slicer like myself. My wife and I play when we get the chance and she enjoys it as well. Both of us are side to side fairway players! Still not a bad course if your trying to figure out your game.
Lots of Fir trees
Was very well maintained . Greens are in great condition for this time of year . Great value . I will make this a return play . Lots log Dog Leg Left which is the wrong direction for me . But still enjoyed it very much .
Just needs a little TLC
Whispering Firs is fun track typical of the PNW. Tight fir lined fairways. Every hole is unique. Lots of doglegs that require some thought. Not a place to just bomb and gouge. They do a good job of keeping the areas within the trees clear so you can almost always find it and punch out as opposed to losing it. Paid $30 on a weekend to walk which is pretty good for the area. Greens and tee boxes were pretty beat up and need of some TLC. Restaurant/Bar closed so that was disappointing. Good value for the price.
