Oakbrook Golf Club

About
Located less than an hour from Seattle in Lakewood, Oakbrook Golf Club is one of the area's hidden gems. Opened in 1966 as a private club, the course opened its doors to the public in 2012. The course is known for its smooth, firm, and fast greens. The 6,700-yard layout plays both narrow and long but it is player friendly enough to appeal to a wide range of skill levels. With hundreds of mature oak trees scattered throughout the course, accuracy is key. It's a course that rewards strategy rather than raw skill. One of Oakbrook Golf Club's toughest holes is the par-4 seventh, which you'll have to play from below since it's sloped steeply from top to bottom. The downhill shots and doglegs will put golfers of any skill level to the test.

Good, but…
Our group were out of town visitors and needed rentals. By far the worst rentals I have ever had to pay for. Brands (mixed) I have never heard of, super old, no balls or tees, I can’t believe they brought them out with a straight face…
Beautiful, wide fairways!
What about the bunkers. Beautiful fairways and unkept bunkers. ??
Oakbrook
This course is a 4 hour slice of tranquility. Not too long, but challenging & engaging enough from the tips to be worth more than the price you’ve payed. Played this course twice and have recommended to over 10 buddies. The drive from South Seattle is the only reason I don’t visit biweekly. Keep up the solid work grounds crew‼️
Not worth the money
Overall course layout is confusing for newcomers, especially back 9. Residents on course are unwelcoming and god forbid you hit a ball slightly out of the fairway. Staff is friendly, but interactions were awkward as a first-time player. Couldn’t even finish back 18 due to slow pace. Fairways were short and consistently dog-tailed creating a course that was challenging for average golfers. Would not recommend for your day-to-day players. 10/10 waste of money and will not be returning for a second round.
Challenging but fair.
Staff was great. Seemed to have a lot of regulars and members playing. Very busy but good pace. An old course but well maintained. Enjoyed playing.
Great course
My wife and I really enjoyed this course. They do a great job with differentiating the tee boxes, makes for a much more enjoyable round! The staff was awesome.
Spot on the $
Course is walkable with true greens. It is tree lined hence Oakbrook. However you can get out of jail fairly easily there. Course is playing long right now as it is a little damp from winter. There was one makeshift hole to protect a green from further damage. Our hot deal was $35 a player but it felt more like what you should pay for the round here given the time of year. There’s some nice weather moving in which should allow for some rapid grass growth and dryer playing conditions. I’ll play it again certainly when it dries out and see if I feel any different. Note keep your eyes open your first time, you can get a little turned around looking for holes after the 6th, BIG SIGN on tree by green for the 7th. Have fun and good luck!!
Good value
Thank you Tee Off for the excellent rate. Previous cancellation was for frost delay and Tee Off staff were friendly and refund was same day.
Great conditions for December
Course was in rally great shape for winter in PNW. Pace of play as usual was fantastic.
Not a bad course. For the money there are better out there. My only real negative was the overcharging of products in clubhouse. Especially water since there was no drinking water on the course I had to buy a bottle of water for 5$. That brought the price of the round up to the cost I could have paid rack rate at a better course
Oakbrook Review
Good test for longer hitters. Several par 4s over 400+ Fairways fairly wide. Roughs fairly challenging. Many large bunkers Greens were spongy due to rain the day before, lots of unrepaired ball marks on green I repaired average 3 per hole. 2 green had deer hoof track that sank into the soft greens. Still say greens are good. Little bumpy but better than most other courses except resorts course which are lot more expensive.
Great Course Horrible Bunkers
The Bunkers need more sand in them. The rest of the course is great
Punching Greens
Would’ve been nice to know from the staff in the pro shop before we teed off that the greens on the front 9 were being punched while we started on the back 9. We were surprised to find that out when I turned to number 1 from 18. Had the staff said something, we probably wouldn’t have paid $50 and some change to play. This is why we usually stick to playing private courses. A little professionalism goes a long way.
I had a great time! First time I had played Oakbrook! I asked my friend, why haven’t we played here before!! I will be back!!!
