Prairie Woods Golf Course
About
Prairie Woods Golf Course tumbles across some of Wisconsin's most rolling terrain. On almost any point on the course, whether you're standing on the tees, the fairways, or the greens, the undulating landscape will put your skills of perception to the test. The golf course offers plenty of variety with a unique design on each hole. The rolling hills determined the strategic placement of the bunkers and there are water hazards coming into play on several holes. It's a layout that will keep you on your toes and reward a well thought-out shot, but it's not overly punishing for high handicappers. The golf course is just over 6,000 yards from the back tees but the changes in elevation can make it feel longer. Besides being one of the most unique rounds in the area, Prairie Woods G.C. is also one of the most affordable.

Reviews
Great course
Very nice course with professional and friendly staff. Worked us in after another course cancelled our T-Time for our state to state golf trip with my son's.
Foot Golf
Our threesome played this course today. As we rounded the turn an eight some playing foot golf cut in front of us. We had to wait for them on the next six holes. They used alternate tees for some holes but on others they teed off close to the center of they fairway. They manager of the course advised us we just had to deal with it. The course is just trying to maximize income at the sake of loyal golfers. They have a good deal of space as you enter the course that could be used for a place for foot golf and frisbee golf. Hint to management, have a drink cart come out and you'll make the money needed to stay a golf course.
great course
Always enjoy playing this course, although they should have senior rates
Great Couse
Great course. Good for all ages. Challenges but not to difficult.
great layout, short but tight
wish it was closer so I could play it weekly. Fun course to play from the blue, white and gold tees.
Love this course
Conditions were excellent with well maintained greens, fairways, roughs, equipment and facilities. White tees very suitable for seniors and made for duffers with natural slice. Price was excellent thru GolfNow. Staff provided good service and were exceptionally gracious in the clubhouse. Those in kitchen even bid us farewell from their location as we were leaving. Food and drinks very good at fair price. Definitely recommend to others and planning to return before the season ends.
tight but fair
fun course for even the best golfers. must keep the ball in play off the tee. holes are not long, but don't let that fool you!
Great course
In most cases your ball is still playable even if you miss the fairway slightly. Keeps play moving along. Played in three and one half hours, even with a five-some ahead of us.
Challenging Course
There is a little bit of everything at this course (i.e. wide open fairways, tight fairways, doglegs, water & sand hazards, etc.). This course is a nice all around course. Too bad it's not closer to town or I'm sure it would be visited more often. Seems like it should only take a few minutes to get out there but it's a good 20 minute hike from Janesville.
Short but tight course. Greens run true. The greens are smooth but don't seem as fast as in years past.
Excellent practice facilities and very good overall course conditions. I'll be back! I'd play it more often but a little too far away to be a regular stop.
Great course overall!
This is one of my favorite courses and I'm so happy they returned to GolfNow!
Course was great
First the GPS on here sent me to a farm house. On arriving the long drive was in good shape and inviting maybe a little more signs would be helpful. When checking in the young staff a little like not happy I used golfnow or could it have been Sunday don't know won't stop me from coming back. When said my first time here not much to help but tee one around the pond. Nothing about range or where the cart was.
For the course was in great shape for the end of the year. The greens had a few leaves on them but it is part of fall play they played fast some holes were in hard position but made it a challenge with the new putter.. I will be going back even if its only my first full year
Much Imroved
I played this course back in 2005 and it was still maturing at that point. I think is have improved by leaps and bounds. It has a great setting being in a rural area with lots of woods around it. Very nice layout and a fun course to play.
Great coarse
Have always enjoy playing this coarse. Has the longest t- box I have ever seen
Great Price & Great Round
The price was really good. Like the free range balls. The course is hard if you do not know where you are going. I have golfed here at least 40 times in the last 10 years and love to make the drive down from Madison. Pace of play is sometimes slow. Overall, I give the course a B+.
Great Service
Corse is always in good condition. Dry in spits due to lack of rain but overall good and greens although were slow they were in great condition. The staff is super friendly and well trained. Kids were cleaning and moving during this slow day leaving the surrounding areas and bar spotless.
Nice Course and worth the trip
Prairie Woods was a nice course and it played harder than the 6000 yards sounds but would be a good scoring course after a few rounds to learn the landing areas. It was my first time playing here so I know that I could shoot better the next time around now that I know what the holes are like and where to aim off of some tee boxes. Greens were a little slow for my liking but they rolled true. If you can control a 5w or 3w off the tees that is all you will need on many holes and others ever a hybrid or 3 iron. I had a few nice shots that were just not aimed properly based on the landing area available to me. I would play again if I am back in the area. The course has many more hills and trees than you would expect from the surrounding area. The back nine has many holes that are tree lined. Staff was great, Its a nice touch to include the driving range with a paid greens fee and the beverage carts was always out and about.
Nice course for all golfers
golf course is in good condition. I would recommend this course.
its like an airport runway!
