convenient location, but course continues to disappoint
The front 9 is being renovated (yay! -- it's sorely overdue), so we were confined to the back 9. It was very backed up so pace was slow. Green conditions were very good, but the tee boxes were terrible. I'm not a huge fan of this course because it's largely been about one step up from trying to golf in a random field or forest somewhere. Maybe the renovations will make it better (?). For playing 9 holes, I prefer Blackberry Farm just down the road.
Very comfortable course
I've played this course several times. Being a novice player I find this course challenging enough to have fun as well as improving my abilities.
The staff has kept the course in good condition for being in such a drastic drought.. Greens are good and the fairways in good condition.
The staff was very friendly and instructive.
This course has really gone down.
The tee boxes are mostly sand. The fairways are dry. I know the drought has a lot to do with it. The greens were fine.
Drought Damaged but still Fun
Deep Cliff is and has been a place my girlfriend and I keep coming back to. The price is right for the course, even more so when using GolfNow to book. The drought has sapped all water from this course so fairways look awful and the tee boxes are a mess. The greens are kept well and pace of play could be improved. (we went on a Sunday...it was pretty slow).
The first tee is a short Par 4 under 260 yards with a slight dog leg right. Bunkers to the right and left of the green. Easy to make Birdie or even Eagle if you can land on the green from the tee box.
2nd hole is nice with a slight left of tee pin placement. There is no back stop or sand traps, but the fairway is hard pack dirt and little grass.
3rd hole is short but you have to navigate a few bunkers and a small creek.
4th hole is nice and elevates perhaps 30 feet from tee box to green with a bunker on each side. I find using a 7 or 6 gets me to the green.
5th hole is straight away with a hill to the left. Bounce your shot off of the left hill and you will be great. Slicing right will endanger the 6th tee box.
6th hole is the "longest" and slice shots are gone into the creek. If you can keep it left to right, you will find 2 sand traps and an easy to manage green for birdie or par.
7th hole has the most difficult green, placed on a hill. I have birdied this hole before and you need to really see the green and lie to make a decent putt.
8th hole is straight away with a shallow bunker to the left. Hooking shots = lost golf balls.
9th hole is another Par 4, but this one is easily reachable from a decent driver or 3 wood from the tee.
10th hole is short and similar to hole 2.
11th hole is another par 4, dog leg left. Drive about 150 yards out but keep the ball left and close to the tree line, then up and down shot to the pin. This green is rock hard.
12th Hole is another par 4, big wide open fairway. Great hole with a few bunkers to navigate.
13th hole is like hole 10 but a few yards longer. 5 iron or 6 would suffice.
14th hole is just like hole 13.
Hole 15 is great because this is a true par 4 hole. Long sloping tee box to a valley below (I exaggerate) but reachable in 2 shots for birdie or Par.
Hole 16 and 17 are very very short. Pitching or Sand wedge.
18th hole is just like hole 4 but a lil shorter.
Great place to play, we need rain!!!
Dog track
Hello,
I have about 15 years of golf experience.
This is by far the worst course I have played.
Tee boxes are like muddy sand pits and the fairways aren't much better.
$35 to play out here is a JOKE.
The only bright side I will say is the conditions of the greens. The greens were freshly mowed and the only bright spot on the course.
Employees were nice at check-in and the facility was decent.
I would not recommend this course to anyone.
Thanks
Gary's Review
The tee boxes are all sand, the course condition is poor, they overbooked and the course was jampacked.
On the bright side the people were nice the course is fun Lotta par threes and we had a good time.
Good short game practice!
Nice staff. I inadvertantly signed up for 9(thru golf now) instead of 18, but they let me play 18 (on a really hot day). Course is showing signs of the drought, but the greens are in still in really nice condition AND it's always a pretty area. Finished 18 in 2 hours (really open due to the heat) and on my way!
Great greens
This is a small executive course tucked into a canyon in Cupertino. I play the course a couple of time a year. In the past the course has been in poor condition. That said, on my last round I was impressed with the condition of the greens. much quicker and in great shape. Still work to do on some of the tee boxes but it is clear that they making significant progress.
Great place to enjoy an easy an fun round of golf.
I always enjoy playing here. It is easy and a beautiful place. I always watch deers and I love the trees and ambiance. José
Good for price
The ground is pretty hard. I imagine that's because of the drought. It's over all a pretty good course for the price.
Wonderful Staff
I was welcomed by very nice professional lady at pro shop. Then another super sweet lady welcomed me at 1st tee! They made me feel like "V.I.P."! I started my day with great feeling but it didn't last that long. I had to paired up with 3 other golfers and they were super slow. When we finished 1st hole, we were already one hole behind. At 10th hole, we were 6 holes behind. When I played here last time, two of us took 1hr 45min for 18holes. This time it took 3hr 45min. If you don't have to paired up with super slow group, it'll be nice course to improve your short game. Good luck!
Great value on a hot deal to practice or learn
The fairways aren't the best in some spots but the greens were in great condition. I took my wife because she's learning to play and it's a great place to play 18 and and practice/learn.
excellent to work on irons
This course has a nice peaceful setting. Although it is being work on, it still presents challenges due to the narrow points on the course. This is the first time that I have seen it in a rough condition. It still is a nice peaceful course to play on.
Course has gone to pot
Course had several temporary T boxes, it didn't seem like they were even trying to maintain the course. The greens were in poor condition as well. We played on a golf now hot deal, otherwise the value for money would have been much lower.
Poor Greens
Overall the course is good but a lot of the greens are pretty beat up. There were bare spots, holes and other issues which made putting difficult.
good for a tuneup
This is an executive course so knowing that going in I was there to work on my iron game. It was already really dry and a lot of the lies even in the fairway were pretty thin. The greens were not in the best shape and really slow. But the course is pretty narrow so it requires you to hit good shots which all I wanted as a tuneup round. It needs a lot of water to soften it up and the greens need some work to smooth them out and make the speed the same.
Course recovering from drought
conditions were poor, especially the Tee Boxes. Lots of work going on. Greens were bumpy and sandy. Fairways mostly dirt or new grass.
Lovely serene 18-holes; crummy greens
The course is nice: short, forest-y feel, and deer. Guaranteed you'll see Bambi, but relax, they are peaceful and mind their own business.
The greens are crummy :/ Holes, random divots, leaves, tree branches. Rather disappointing on that front.
Lovely walk though. Good challenge for the beginning golfer.
Best in the morning
I play this course with my wife. We are not very good, but we really enjoy playing here alongside the deer and the Falcons. Mostly par-3s, the course is wide open and suits our abilities.
u000006796883,
Thank you for your review. I am happy to report that all 18 holes have been renovated with new tees and bunkers. The course is now is great shape. Please let me know if you are interested in coming back out to play.
