A nice walk in th park
Deep Cliff is a nice local course. amazing within 3 miles are millions of people. Tucked in the hills it is a very post card looking course. Fun layout. greens are good but tee boxes HAVE major issues! The cafe has nice Craft beer on draft. But they could use a newer TV. Wow circa 1980's
Great option for a quick round
I wanted to play a quick 9 before work, so i made a tee time for 7:10am. The cost was $20 for a full 18 (although i only had time fore 9).
There had been heavy rain on the days leading up to my play time so the course was understandably soft and wet. The coure was in decent shape, a little worn, but they are making repairs where needed. The course was fairly empty as i had one of the first tee times so pace of play was up to me. I finished 9 holes in 60 minutes.
I will definately be coming back for more pre-work rounds.
Pace of play
Last week ,we played 18 holes in 2 hours. Today, we played 18 in 4 hours. Play before 8 am or you will be doomed.
Deep Cliff Golf
Deep Cliff is near De Anza College and easy to find
There is ample parking and a modest but complete clubhouse facility
If you are a ten to fifteen handicap you will enjoy the challenge of this course,
If you are a five to ten handicap then pass on this course as you will overpower it
Great setting in a quiet and secluded valley
Good Value for Money, but ...
the course needs some TLC
Tee boxes resemble a bunker or are runover with crab grass
Most of the greens are good. The back 9 is in better shape
Needs some work
This course is an ok value for the money, but the conditions are a bit disappointing. The tee boxes are for the most part horrible--some are like teeing off in a sandtrap. It's not easy making a full powerful swing without solid footing. Creating a nice flat grass area to tee off of seems like a very basic greenskeeping task. Also, the greens are not that great either, with the grass being paper thin with visible underlying dirt everywhere and often large blemishes on the putting surface. However, it is a very pretty course and the fairways are acceptable for the most part.
very kind staff
I'm very satisfied with very kind staffing and shade filed was comfortably for my family.
Drough conditions
Played the course with my wife in 3 hr 20 min. Tee time 8 AM. Greens are being watered but the tee boxes and fairways are brown and in some cases the grass is all but gone. I have played this course for many years and this is about as dry as I have seen it. Not their fault, although they could do with a little bit less watering on the greens (spongy areas).
The tee boxes in many cases have been moved forward and away from the sandy areas resulting in some very short holes.
Nice relaxed environment
Good course for relaxing afternoon stroll. Mostly par3s with several short par 4s. Watch our for neighbor mis hits.
Great time
Will return
Loved it. Good for beginners
Enjoyed the scenery
Had lunch
Jose in the Cafe was Delightful
Hope you like sand...
Tee boxes and fairways are nonexistent. Tee boxes are mostly sand and fairways are dry hard dirt.
They have signs everywhere saying they are conserving water (lazy excuse) however, the greens were SOAKED. Puddles in some areas.
If you wanna play quick on the weekday, go for it. But I wouldn't pay more than $20-25 for this poorly maintained course.
Unbelievable
I have played here before and understand that the pace is slow as a lot of beginners and seniors play. Even understand the fairways and tee boxes being dirt due to saving water because of the drought. That said,I was never able to finish as it took six hours. Found out why. A six some in front of group ahead of me. Unacceptable. Won't be back.
Fun short course but not in great shape.
This is a fun little course with nice scenery and wildlife to work on your short game. There are only six par-4s and the longest are only about 290 yards. I have two complaints: the tee boxes are horrible with many actually being mostly sand around patches of dead grass which makes it tough to have steady footing on your drives, and secondly, the tee boxes are moved around without changing the yardage signs. A fellow golfer used his fancy site to measure the distance on some holes and they were off by 20+ yards.
Good shorter course
This is a shorter course with a mixture of par 3 and 4s, but there is enough trouble to deal with to make it challenging. Lots of well placed trees affect your tee shots and i always feel I need to have my iron game under control to play well here.
Under Watered Overbooked
The course is short and flat but the trees and deers makes it interesting. The course is so under watered that the teeing green are mostly sand and there are patches of dead grass on the fairway. The putting green is well kept. The biggest problem is overbooking. When I arrive the first tee, there were 10 people waiting to tee off and they all claim to have the same tee time. I had to waited half an hour at the first tee and and 5 to 10 minutes at the subsequence tees.
Sharpen your short game
Deep Cliff is a great executive length 18 hole course tucked up into the Cupertino foothills. It winds up into the canyon and provide beautiful landscapes to play through. At par 60 you will keep your driver in your bag but you will work out all your short game clubs with good challenges from the blue tees. Get the early tee times to get a fast round. My buddy and I started at 7 and we were done before 10.
This was my friends first time there an all he could say was "beautiful!"
Best Father's Day
Just think what to do on Father's day and could book a tee time from Golfnow.com right away as a single player. People there are very friendly. Starter paired me up with a nice guy and some one caught up later. Tee box were not perfect but I usually tee it up so no problem for me. Some holes, the tee boxes are moved forward so make those easier than before. There are bunkers and water hazards and lot of trees, as well as deers.
Deep Cliff
Fun afternoon Fun afternoon Fun afternoon Fun afternoon Fun afternoon Fun afternoon Fun afternoon Fun afternoon
Had a fun time
I played Deep Cliff with 3 other friends. We are all beginners. There's nothing spectacular about this course, but it is a great course for beginners like us. It's short so I didn't need to take out my driver. Because of the drought, there were some areas that were brown and dry, but around the greens, it was fine. I was surprised that the pace as very good. We didn't have to wait at any hole. We teed off just after 2 pm on Sunday. We practiced in the range area beforehand. It's a humble range. It gets the job done. For the price and the time, it was money well spent.
Terrible condition
Worst conditioned course I have ever played. Tee boxes aren't grass they are sand and muck nearly all of them. The greens have a ton of dirt pits and were just airrated, there was no notice provided and they didn't roll at all. The course is executive so I won't complain about the pathetic yardage. There are plenty of other choices in San Jose and I kindve feel like golfnow should just remove this course if they don't want to offer 10$ tee times.
