This is a petty course.
Its a great place to play on a hot day because there is lots of shade. It's in fair condition at the moment due to some really dry weather in northern ca. but I've seen it in better shape. Great value for the price, you can walk or ride. I play there often.
Nice little course to get your swing on.
I was in the area and wanted to get some green time. Showed up a bit late for my tee time and the starter/management were accommodating even as HS league play was about to start. Course is narrow and dense with trees. Fairways are in decent shape given the dought. The recent rains helped but the greens were very slow and probably could be trimmed a bit. Errant shots will put you on the next fairways or losing balls. Great for practicing your long irons and approach shots. Paired up with very nice people and enjoyed the walk with a bunch of urban deers hanging out.
I think Stevie wonder was the greens keeper that week
Deep cliff was a joke. Can't believe they have the audacity to charge full price with the course in the condition it was in. Not one realistic fairway . More like a drive way of dirt
Great if you're looking for quick 18
Misty par-3. Very fast course (played 15 in 2.5 hours. Wish they has more par-5 holes. Hardly an opportunity to pull out a driver.
Deep Cliff is a good beginner/skill building course
This 18 hold course allows for any beginner to work on the most important aspect of the golf game: the short game. I played this course knowing that I needed some practice with my mid-irons and short irons, wedges and putter. The greens on this course are well taken care of.
There is a lot of good scenery to take in as you walk around the course. Like big trees, deers, turtles, and a couple of creeks.
The challenges on this course can be found in a couple of holes that dog leg either left or right. The golfer doesn't have to contend with much water on this course, so losing your ball is a little tough.
Overall, this is a fun course to work on your skills and to enjoy some beautiful scenery.
Deep Cliff
Deep Cliff is a great course to work on your iron game. If you start early, there's typically no waiting and you can get a full 18, while walking, in under 3 hours.
They maintain the course nicely and the value can't be beat for 18 holes of golf.
Long round for DC
Course is in good condition. Alternate green at #2 and alternate tee box at #3.
Maintenace is lacking
Course has been neglected over the Years. Tee boxes are marked with a Old Stick of Wood. Tees are worn out. Greens have Blight. Trees down in Creek ,and dead trees need to be removed.
Great for a shorter 18
This course is pretty challenging due to the narrow fairways. Hard to keep your driver in your bag but it is a must. Good course for someone who is getting in to golf and it is their first 18 hole course.
graet layout for short course
course is in horrable shape which is unfortunate
great layout real nice walk fun to play just in bad shape from tee boxes to greens and non existant
bunker quality
Scenic front 9, but cramped in the back
The front nine was scenic and the greens were in decent condition. The back however is cramped into an area that seems like it just isn't enough space, with the tee boxes right next to the greens. The greens on the back nine were also in poor condition; with inconsistent speeds and bumps all over the place. I paid $19 for my round, but even at that price I don't think I'll go back. I'd rather pay $10 more and go to SJ muni or even pruneridge.
A little gem in the suburban forest.
Deep Cliff is one of the best courses for learning to control your irons and wedges. The beauty that surrounds the course makes what would be simple holes on most courses daunting here. Many holes have serious trouble either on the tee shot, or around the green. There are a handful of holes where a shot that is two yards off the back or to one side of the green is dead and likely lost. But that trouble is exactly what makes such a short course so Intriguing. There is very little ability to play your hole from another fairway, you have to keep control of your ball. I will keep coming here from time to time because it is just such a great little course.
Nice Exec course
As usual, this course is in good shape and there is lots of availability during the week. Good value, nice conditions, nice friendly staff.
The course is in great shape, well maintained.
It's a nice looking course with huge trees. The fairways are narrow creating a challenge to hit the ball straight. If you are off the fairway, the course is not too forgiving. The greens are in great shape. For the value, a great course.
This is a very nice 18-hole short course
Deepcliff does not require long drives.
Accuracy is by far more important.
Best played in the morning
We had a tee time at 0745 but was allowed to get started as soon as we got there. There were some greens that needs repair but an overall good value. They also take youth on course without time restrictions.
Average course with pretty slow play.
Deep Cliff calls itself an executive course but I would call it an Executives Wives Course. The reasonable greens fees and short, fairly easy holes lend themselves to a type of player that is, let's say, novice and looking for a way to pass the time during the weekday. So play is usually very slow.
The course seems to be in a constant state of repair. Greens are pretty beat up, possibly a result of clueless players not knowing it is polite to repair the green. Also a lot of the course is in constant shade so it never properly dries out and doesn't get sun for good grass structure.
pretty little course in rough shape...
Had a nice walk at Deep Cliff but they are doing a lot of work on the course and, quite frankly, it needs it. Hopefully some of the new grass they are seeding will have the place in better shape next spring
Tranquil setting, ideal for beginners and seniors
I have returned to golfing at age 60 after a 40 year "time out" from the game and have played Deep Cliff 4 times this year. It's a lovely, tranquil short course with an interesting variety of holes. Few holes would challenge a golfer who can break 100 on a full-length course, but that's just fine for me at the stage I'm at right now in re-learning golf. Water hazards and gullies come into play on a couple of holes, but by and large you shouldn't find yourself feeling threatened by any of the golfing challenges at Deep Cliff. There's a good chance you will see several deer nibbling on the fairways. The cafe near the parking lot is pretty decent too. They have a nice "golf plus lunch" deal for seniors, but I'm still a bit too young to qualify for that. ;)
Very nice course to polish your short game
Deep Cliff is a nice scenic Par 60. The 18 holes are mostly Par 3's and 4's. You don't need a driver for this course. The slopes are very moderate and forgiving. A novice player like myself can get a few birdie attempts throughout the easily walkable course. I really like this course because it's a fun course and it doesn't bruise my ego.
Signotim,
Thank you for the review. We have just completed an extensive renovation to our tees and bunkers. The course is now is great shape. Please let me know if you would like to come back and play as my guest. I look forward to hearing back from you.
