Ok course could be better manacured
Played Sunday for 40 bucks definitely should be priced way lower. I understand Davis areas charge more for things but a 25- 30 dollar range would have made more sense. Course is actually pretty fun. Some confusion and back ups happen hole 16-17 because you start on 10, also the sand traps are hard packed sand that are very wet, we played at almost 11 and they were soaked but super hard not even worth hitting out of. Greens were pretty good and fairways were a good challenge
Challenging course
Course is challenging with water and sand coming into play on almost all holes. Fairways were narrow but in good shape, some greens were badly pitted with ball marks, but most were ok. Overall it was a good value for the money.
Great links style course
Wildhorse is one of my favorite courses in the Sacramento area. It is links style with big bunkers and greens. It has good practice facilities. The course is challenging yet fun. Be sure and pick the right tees as several holes have forced carries over wetlands. The greens were good, but had too many ball marks though. The marshalls need to enforce pace of play as we followed a twosome which held us up on almost every hole as he tried to play blue tees with a +20 handicap. I will return though as I enjoy the course
Great Course
Except for the rudeness of the Marshal on the course, the rest of the experience was amazing. Food is great, course is good and the greens are amazingly true
customer service
The guy inside the pro shop was very helpful and provided me with excellent customer service.
Course was well manicured.
Great overall golf day as the staff was very hospitable and the course was in great shape.
good
another great day at the links for me - i am probably one of the best to ever play this game with minimal practice !
Discovered a gem thanks to Golfnow.com.
Have been playing in Sacramento area for over 15 years but never played here. The course layout was very interesting and well manicured. Perfect weather and friendly staff helped to enjoy the game 100 percent. We will definitely play a lot more times here. We will bring some friends next time.
Good Round at Wildhorse
Our first time at Wildhorse.... Challenging course for mid to high handicap players. Good greens with a lot of subtle breaks. Course conditions great for early in the season. A little breezy the day we played which I'm told was told was fairly normal for this course. Will definitely return.
They switched the order of the 9's: not as fun now
I play here a bunch and for the most part like it. The fairway and greens are generally in good condition. It is a challenging course and makes for a fun round. Recent changes however make it not as fun. They switched the order of the front and back nines and it really makes for a less enjoyable round. Hole 17 and 18 are real gems but as hole 8 and 9 they are not as special. Hole 9 which is now 18 is unremarkable and makes for a disappointing finish. Sometimes the guys on the pro shop are real nice, sometimes they are a bit gruff.
On this particular round there was a tournament in the morning so play was real slow (4 1/2 hours mid week) and some of the fairways were in rough condition. In general the conditions are usually good.
Golf 2X there so far.
I am new to actually golfing and My Boyfriend goes all the time. really liking it. the course was great! we had a great time.
Poor Greens
Played course about 20 times over the last 8 years or so. Played at 7:46 am tee time. Frost all over the course but golfers were allowed to play. REALLY NOT GOOD FOR GRASS, ESPECIALLY THE GREENS.
Greens overall were in very bad shape due to many many ball marks not repaired. Wildhorse has many golfers who apparently do not believe in fixing their ball marks. Not very courteous of the players. Several greens (#2,4, 6 and 11 among many others) have 40-50 unrepaired ball marks, including many within 3 feet of the hole!!. Additionally, the course allowed a 5-some in front of us which added to the slow play. To his credit the marshal advised us that he instructed the 5-some to allow us to play through if we chose to do so. We did decline and survived. There is no justification for allowing more than a 4-some on the course. Overall, the course is approaching mediocrity and may be avoided in the future!!
Great winter conditions
Great winter conditions. Needs a little work in bunkers, so stay out of them. Fairways in good shape. Most greens also in good shape. Pace of play good Sunday 9:30 just under 4 hours. Good beer choices.... Have an out meal stout for breakfast.
Maintenance man with wife ?
I played at 12 42,,,and it was backed up when I started so I paired up with a single behind me,,there was a 3 some in front of us and a slow 4 some in front of them
The 2 some behind us paired with another 2 some for a while,,but then half that 2 some went on ahead of us,,We were told he worked maintenance at the course and played when he wanted to for no cost.
For some arrogant unexplainable reason the maintenance man decided to plop down in front of the 3 some ahed of us, and behind the slow 4 some. this happened about hole 7, and made the pace even slower.
I won't be back anytime soon,,dissapointing
AS EXPECTED FOR DROUGHT CONDITIONS
This is a links style course with many holes having water hazard areas in play. The only major tree difficulties are parts of old walnut orchards. In these areas are many burrowing animal holes, as well as fallen nuts. Wind becomes a major factor, especially in the afternoon. Many holes have fairway bunkers in play, as well as greenside bunkers on all holes.
The course itself is in good condition for drought conditions. The greens have been carefully maintained.
Nice course
This course was in good condition overall. Some of the greens are beat up by divot marks but that is not something the course can fix-it's on the people playing who don't have respect. I would play here again abd am glad I found a nice new place that's close.
Nice
Moderate challenge course, even with this drought the course still in fair condition, good course to play after work,1,8,17, nice holes 18 with wind conditions boogey is a good score...play it smart!!!!!!!
Slow Greens
The course was in great shape but the greens were way to slow.
