DeBary Golf & Country Club
About
DeBary Golf & Country Club, a Lloyd Clifton-designed course sits on hilly land. The layout is fascinating. No two holes feel similar. Only two holes have water, but there is significant sand. Dense woods of pine and evergreen border the fairways. The rolling fairways and natural layout give the golf course a Carolinas feel. The par 5s are all in the 500- to 550-yard range. The par 3s are all approximately the same distance, running 180 to 190 yards from the back tees, and 150 to 160 yards from the white tees. DeBary is one of the few Clifton golf courses that do not top out at more than 7,000 yards.

Conditions
Not what I expected. Fairways had light grass and rough were completely burnt. Needed to overseed. Greens were fast but in need of repairs
Disappointed in the day
We arrived 30 minutes early and were told that the course was busy and they were running 20 minutes behind. They were starting on the 10th hole and when we asked about going off on the first , there was no reply. So after waiting 20 minutes past our time, off we went. After that we waited on every shot, with 4 groups lined up on the par 3’ s It took us 3 hours to play 9 holes which was unacceptable. On the 9th we finally saw the marshal and when we commented, his reply was that it was Friday. When we said there were just too many people on the course the reply was , “well, we have to make money” We left after 9 holes and when I mentioned it to the pro shop we were offered a 9 hole rain check which was nice. The t boxes were in pretty rough shape but the greens were ok. Fairways were ok but the rough is totally brown and very long. This place needs a lot of work. It is a shame because the layout is good and the building is inviting. We were very disappointed.
Jacques review
To many old pin hole marks, on the greens, winter rye scarce, great layout. My overall negative review was the result of a 5 3/4 hour round. Three hours to play the first nine which chased a few to quit at the turn but didn’t really speed up play. A ranger came by on our ninth hole and had nothing to say other than the course books tee times at seven minute increments and this is how they make money, well they made money this day but won’t in the future if this continues. My third time playing here in six years, good luck to the new owners, get your act together or I won’t be back.
Tee off reservation fee
Tee off charged me a 25 dollar reservation fee. Person at Debary golf course charged me full price for 4 players and would not refund reservation fee. Told me to go to tee off to get it back. I know Debary was in the wrong but person behind the counter would not help me.
Good Condition
The golf course has a decent layout and is in good condition. The course gets really busy in the winter, so slow play can be expected at times.
DeBary
Good track and good conditions. Greens were in good conditions and fast.
Incompetence in the Pro Shop
The old coot checking golfers in at the Pro Shop. should be terminated. It should NOT take 15 minutes to check in when you hand the man the paperwork that was printed from the reservation at Golf Now. Total incompetence!
Great course design
Played this course in the afternoon. Course management is key when playing as they have some dog legs both left and right where if you hit it straight you will be OB. Greens are good and fast. Hole number 1 green was a bit like playing a putt putt course, but overall great experience.
What went wrong
The new honers are
horrible. I will never go back. And I love the track. Very sad
