DeBary Golf & Country Club
About
DeBary Golf & Country Club, a Lloyd Clifton-designed course sits on hilly land. The layout is fascinating. No two holes feel similar. Only two holes have water, but there is significant sand. Dense woods of pine and evergreen border the fairways. The rolling fairways and natural layout give the golf course a Carolinas feel. The par 5s are all in the 500- to 550-yard range. The par 3s are all approximately the same distance, running 180 to 190 yards from the back tees, and 150 to 160 yards from the white tees. DeBary is one of the few Clifton golf courses that do not top out at more than 7,000 yards.

Nice course
Nice Course, but some holes were soggy. I think they had some sprinkler issues. Cause the fairways on first 9 were muddy at spots.
DeBary Country Club
Overall very nice course. Layout was challenging but fair. Hurricane damage limited some parts of the course by the sod replacement but not a huge issue. Greens rolled well and speeds were normal.
Grounds crew working hard to undo the hurricane damage. Would recommend this course. Pace of play fine.
Good course, wet, construction.
The course is wet in several areas, first hole collection area in the middle of fairway, pump installed to remove small pond. 9th and 18th front of greens are swampy, seems lake overflowed? They have redone several of the traps and replacing waste areas, other work around greens, etc... glad to see work being done. Greens are ok, rolling good but could be better. I look forward to seeing it after it is finished.
This was our second time playing here and we were pleased with the overall conditions on the course. They are still recovering a bit from the hurricane so there are some wet and soggy areas throughout the course. Staff was very welcoming and attentive . We will plan on coming back next year.
Nice course
The course is in good shape for winter conditions and the for work that is being done to the course. The greens were rolling fast and true. We will play again.
Not our best round
Debary is very tight course with many blind spots and surprises. The fairways and tee boxes are not in the best of shape. Many areas are under repairs and other section have restricted cart access. The greens, however, are in good shape and very fast.
There are clean washrooms facilities at various locations on the course.
All the staff were courteous and the friendly cart girl made regularly rounds.
We were expecting a better quality course and was a bit disappointed in the shape and just didn't play our best round here.
Nice Course
First time playing this course and it was a nice layout. Quite a number of sand traps around the greens in in the fairways. I found the greens to be extremely challenging in that they are far from flat and at times a bit fast. I really enjoyed the course and will definitely be playing it again
Know the layout
The layout of the course is fair but challenging. I played with 3 young men that knew the course and hit bombs off the tee. Course management is crucial and understanding the layout is a must. Greens were rolled and faster than expected after a hard rain. Course clubhouse was surprisingly small with very small area for marketing products. Beverage cart came around 3 times and bathrooms in the course. Driving range is large but mostly a large ugly barrow pit looking area. Ugly. But overall the course and services were good. I will go back for sure.
Course was a good condition
We enjoyed playing the course. Greens were great and so was the course
Recovering Nicely
The course has had to recover from recent storms, but has done so nicely. It’s a good mature layout with its challenges, but is fair. They are currently refurbishing the traps and areas of the fairways. Worth the play.
Upgrades!
The course has a lot of work going on, but it doesn't interfere with your round. Let's hope they don't price us out after the improvements are finished.
Nice course, if…
I really loved the layout, it was fun to play. However, the irrigation left course conditions quite swampy with several holes being cart path only, they left this fact out after we paid. Also, the pace of play was probably the worst I have ever experienced, with several groups in front and behind us. What normally would have been a 3 hour round for a 2-some turned into a 5 hour round.
Poor Conditions & Rude Staff Member
I’ve played this course many times and have always had a great experience with both the staff and course quality, however the current conditions (due to flooding and replacement of bunkers on Holes 1-9) really make it difficult to enjoy playing, especially with no price reduction. Also, one rude staff member ruined our round by accusing us of hitting someone’s vehicle with a wayward drive off the 18th and telling us that ‘somebody was lying to him’ despite none of our group being responsible.
Things we didn't know detracted from our experience
To start, let me say this is a good course and the upkeep is first class for the price range.
The fairways were consistent and 99% filled in with grass. The greens were very good, especially if you like very fast.
There were two aspects that should be (1) reflected in the price and (2) explicitly warned about/explained at check in or by the starter.
(1) is that there was significant flooding on the iconic holes 9 and 18, which pretty much ruined the second shots on these holes. We played the water as casual, but we should have been told about it.
(2) Also, on several holes on the front there was bunker renovation going on, including large areas around the bunkers (which also created a large new "pond" on #1.
We weren't sure what to do with these but treated them as ground under repair.
For someone who often likes to run balls up to the greens, these two problems forced me to change my game and hit shots I don't normally hit. Definitely affected my score, while not being reflected in the course ratings.
