DeBary Golf & Country Club

About
DeBary Golf & Country Club, a Lloyd Clifton-designed course sits on hilly land. The layout is fascinating. No two holes feel similar. Only two holes have water, but there is significant sand. Dense woods of pine and evergreen border the fairways. The rolling fairways and natural layout give the golf course a Carolinas feel. The par 5s are all in the 500- to 550-yard range. The par 3s are all approximately the same distance, running 180 to 190 yards from the back tees, and 150 to 160 yards from the white tees. DeBary is one of the few Clifton golf courses that do not top out at more than 7,000 yards.

Fallen tree while we were on green. Photo submitted by tbusfbulls10 on 04/21/2013
Great semi-private course
I love getting out to play this club. The fairways and greens are in great shape after the rain. My only complaint is the hole where there is a tree in front of the green. But that is only because I always hit it right behind the tree!
The best in my area
Debary has always been one of my favorite courses! Great course conditions , challenging layout and staff have always been at the top of my list.
Great Course
Love this course, very challenging. very well maintained. Would def recommend.
Great course
Condition was very good. Done in 3&1/2 hours pace was very good on a hot day..
Lost me from coming back!
Debary golf and country club has been worth traveling to, in the past, but this past Sunday was a terrible experience! The greens were so hairy and uncut, no matter how hard we hit the ball, it just wouldn’t roll. It was worse than trying to put in the Fairway. They are the worst greens that I have played on in many years! Another thing, is after we paid our $75, was told to start on the back nine, because number one has a temporary Green. That temporary Green made that whole hole worthless!
I whole hardly believe that they were so dishonest about the shape of the course, that they hide it from you, until after you Pay! Several of the tee boxes had issues with no grass. My advice is to avoid this course at all cost. If they are this dishonest to their players, then why paid the money!
what happened to the greens
Played here a few times in the past 2 months, it has been fantastic but the shape of the course has changed dramatically. To start the greens were punched several weeks ago but have not grown back smooth in an effort to try to help they have let the greens grow whichever resulted in slower greens than even Casselberry. What made it tough to swallow was $75 rate for golf with no warning about the slow uncut greens and a temporary green on the first hole overall value was not there this time always Rave about this course but would tell people to pass Country Club of Mount Dora is a fantastic place for $20 less. Golfer beware
TLC Needed
The layout is nice. Narrow fairways. Not long, easy to play. But the course needs a lot of TLC (tender loving care). They lost their certified course superintendent a few years back and never replaced him. It shows.
Big bump entering 1st fairway. You would think they would fix this. Ouch!! Too many dirt paths leading to the fairways, or greens. Too many bumps and holes. Fairways are thin, grass is not robust. Too many bare areas to play from. Greens were pretty good.
This course could be so much better with a little attention to detail.
Untold Aerated Greens
The course is in really good shape. The only issue is not being told the greens were aerated. Seems it’s been a week or so, but difficult to put on. They will be gorgeous when they come in. Friendly staff. Looking forward to the greens.
Need rangers on the course
Great day weather wise
Need a ranger to keep rounds closer to 4 hours or less
Unfriendly ranger.
As being a semi private club, guests players were treated with a disdain from the members and the ranger on the course who found four opportunities to harass our group unkindly. Our group consisted of four gentleman 3 over 40 and one who is close to 70, so by no means was this a group with a lack of experience or decorum. Combined this group has played over 20 rounds here previously but will not return.
Blazing fast and hot
Derek keeps the riff raff to a minimum
Which allows for a sub 3.5 hour round in the heat
Debary Golf and Country Club
Love this course as it’s close to where I live. Tight course with OB but well maintained and great course for the price
Enjoyable round
DeBary was in great condition. I really enjoyed the greens. The pro shop and snack bar staff were great. Would recommend Impress this course to a friend.
Great value for your money
The very golf and country club gives you tremendous value and the courses in really good shape. The greens are better than the majority of courses out there. Highly recommend.
