Play it.
George DunneForest Preserve National and Ravisloe are the two best public golf courses in the south and southwest suburbs of Chicago. George Dunne is a great layout that is a challenge and fun from any of the tees. Pick your tee box wisely. No shame in moving up. You’ll use every club in your bag and some in new ways. A real pleasure to play.

South suburban gem
As usual, the course was in excellent condition. Pace of play was good. The staff was friendly and helpful as usual. Great place to play. Recommend it to anyone looking for a challenging experience.
Good greens, bad day to play
It had rained a couple days before the round so we hoped it would be dry, sadly it wasn’t and therefore cart paths only. Course was running 10-15 minutes behind to tee off and it only got worse from there. The round ended up being about 5.5 hours.
The course for being as wet as it was, did have nice greens and the fairways were mostly in good shape. Nice job by the grounds crew, poor job by the tee time scheduler.
Death March
Good course layout unfortunately jammed into 8 min tee times. Couldn’t push the group in front while we were continually hit into all round. No ones fault felt like a 10+ group logjam, 5 behind us and 5 in front. 11 is super cool with 2 lakes to avoid but kinda bummed I won’t try it again. I couldnt stomach burning another 5+ hours to walk collectively as a course in a death march.
Old Gem didn't disappoint!
This is still a premier course despute some hiccups. This is a championship layout. Fairways and greens are 5 stars. Bunkers are improving as the front nine are fine. Back nine are not very good. I played as a single at 652 am. Flew in an hour ten. But back was slow due to the policy of letting players play 9 holes at 6 am. Otherwise this was a great morning.
What an incredible golf course for the price, like a country club
They have great facilities for hitting golf balls practicing your chipping and putting. The clubhouse is a little small but everything they serve there is great. Staff was extremely friendly, the course I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of playing . The course was in great shape, just wonderful to play
Pleasantly surprised
George Dunne went from a quasi country club (when our esteemed board members and cronies had the place to themselves) while outsiders lined up on Central Avenue at 3 AM to get a tee time .. to the proverbial go to goat ranch when nothing else was available. Current management has done a great job and the course is not only a great track, but one that is almost country club quality. Staff is friendly and courteous and cost is very reasonable given the quality conditions.
great layout, but quality has suffered
this is a great track, but they're not keeping it in shape. Greens were the worst, very shaggy and bumpy. Sandtraps had basically no sand more dirt on front nine, a little better on back nine. Pace of play on back nine was quite slow, saw no rangers out trying to speed things up. Could be one of the best courses in the area but needs some attention, and put some money into it.
Huge course with excellent layout
Food and drinks were rather expensive here, but the course itself was large and well maintained. Easy flowing course with some hard water holes. Will be visiting again soon for sure!
Sand traps are a disgrace
Tees greens fairways were excellent the sand traps are terrible
Great course
I have played Dunne quite a few times now, I really like this course and it is somewhere I make sure I get too every season. Unfortunately this round the greens hand recently been aerated and not fully healed yet. Which I understand needs to happen but unfortunately we still payed full price for the round. The course held up great as we had just experienced some heavy rains. I highly recommend this course to anyone.
Great layout
Sand traps very hard and crusty; may have been due to recent rains. Rough very long.
Great track but traps need help
Many of the traps are in bad shape and there are a ton of traps
George Dunne Great in winter
Played win 10 year old son. 38 degrees and sunny. Course was in great shape considering winter. Very challenging course.
Sorry you did not enjoy your experience, we are doing a lot of things to improve conditions and pace. Come see us in 2019 I think you will really enjoy the round
