Short course
Had a tee-time for 6am. The facility was not prepared and had to wait 15 minutes just to get to the #1 tee box. Course is a little confusing to first time players. The score card isn't accurate and you actually tee off on the old #8 hole. The pro shop staff neglected to tell the other twosome I was playing with about the changes. They would have been seriously lost had I not know about the changes.
On the good side, it is VERY reasonably priced if you book on the GolfNow app. It is a very short course from the white tees and certainly a confidence booster. I'm pretty sure Helen Keller could shoot in the 70's.
But it's a nice course, very beautiful and well maintain. I'm sure it will improve once the scorecards actually reflect the golf course layout.
Defiantly recommend it to golfers in the 10 to 30 handicap range. Really good golfers should be able to chew the place up.
I give it 3.74259 stars. Would of been 3.81665 stars had I not double bogied the last hole.
Thank you for choosing Boulder Oaks and taking time out of your busy day to give us a review. We are glad to hear you enjoyed you visit with us. We look forward to seeing you again real soon. Happy Golfing from the Staff at Boulder Oaks
Target Golf
Fun course. Accuracy is a must. Obvious evidence of the effort being put into improving the course. I thoroughly enjoyed the course.

Boulder Oaks
Good target golf course. Fairly easy if u hit the fairway difficult if u don't. Greens in decent shape though couple of pin placements too tricky.
Thanks for choosing Boulder Oaks we appreciate your business and for taking the time to give us a review. We are glad to hear you enjoyed your visit and we hope to see you again soon. Happy Golfing

Good course that's getting better
They have done a fantastic job redoing this course, and in they're in the process of improving it again. The layout is a little short, but still challenging. It's in good to great shape - especially compared to some its neighbors. The greens are true, in great shape. They use the waste areas widely, which puts a premium on accuracy.
They have a nice clubhouse with a bar and kitchen. It's a fun place to spend an afternoon.
new layout
The new layout has brought some significant changes which have made this course a hybrid with several of the original holes and new ones which are more reminiscent of an executive course. While I appreciate what they are trying to do and I wish them well, I liked the original layout better and I won't be going back. Too bad the old course was never in this kind of condition.
One of the best layouts in North County
This course is awesome. It looks like a combination of Mt Woodson and Carmel Mountain Country Club. The layout of the course is beaitiful. The visual layout some of the holes is on par with some expensive desert courses I have played.
The only thing really holding this course back is the distance on paper, but once you play this course you will think twice.
My favorote style of course is a desert target golf with pure greens and fairways. Whoever redisgned this course is a genius. I much prefer the native desert, and carryovers versus having spotty grass running between holes. Once the shrubs and succulents mature this course is going to look amazing.
The course plays much further than it looks due to severe elevation changes, and some really tight faiways. The length is negated with a lot of par 4 holes requiring a stategic layup versus trying to run a driver neqr the green. The only time you feel the shortness are some of the par 5s. While the finishing par 5 on the front 9 is a gorgeous hole. Next time we play we may only play irons to.balance these out.
This course has one of the hardest par 3s in San Diego. A 218 bear into the wind with a partialy blind tee shot requring a slight draw. Its one of the holes where the visual sightline makes for an easy misalignment.
I really loved the unique boulders placed im a few bunkers. And I enjoyed playing shots out of the dirt. If you cant play scramble shots out of akward desert lies or have a 220 club you can put in the fairway. You may not prefer this course.
If you enjoy target golf and working on some tricky off the dirt approach shots with beautifully designed holes you will love this track.
I will be back. One of the best values in San Diego.
Needs some work
The cart paths are all over the place and very ugly...very rough and bumpy. Hard to follow the card we started on hole 1 which is 8 on the card. Only half the holes were signed properly. The actual playing areas (fairways and greens were ok but the rough is wild, hard dirt, wood chips or rock. I used to enjoy Meadowlake but wouldnt go back to Boulder Oaks til maybe next year if I hear a good report that they fixed it.
You didn't like the cart paths? Let me know when you find the worst greatest concrete.
April CA visit
Since boulder oaks was renovated with desert plants etc it is great. Beautiful greens and fairways target golf helps you score, but a great time. Plan to go back soon
Good job on revamping course
Played here a couple years ago and it was awful. They have done a respectable remodel with nice fairways and greens.
No title
The staff (the man behind the counter....actually the mgr. on the computer at the time of check-in) was more interested in pairing us (my wife and me) with the other golf now "participant" than any thing else......in fact their demeanor was such...that I ask them...."Is there a problem?" To make sure that we teed off as a three some... The mgr sent the "counter guy" to the 1st tee to verify this! (A walk of 1/8 mile each way). We went to the 1st tee, the third party of our group joined us before we teed off. Everything was fine after we teed off. Incidentally the course was not busy at all. Although the mgr. said they had tee times before and after us. I got the idea that they don't really like "golf now" reservations.....or dealing with those that have tee times through "Golf Now". We probably won't play the course again through Golf Now or direct reservation.
beautiful, thinking man's course
Our foursome played Sat. 04/08 on a cool, sunny somewhat windy day. We all love the new layout and look of the former Meadow Lake course. I especially enjoy the flowering plantings in the bare waste areas that adjoin the fairways. Greens were mostly recovered from the aeration of March. Some a little more bare than others but putted well for us. Scenic views add to the overall experience of this somewhat tight, short layout. We played from the Black tees, which is not something I normally do as a senior, moderate distance player; but, we got around with decent scores (80 for me) and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Recommended.
Great Day
My friend and I had a great day of golf at Boulder Oaks. We love the course. My friend was so excited when she got a hole in one on hole 11. The weather was perfect and we both scored well. It doesn't get any better than that.

fun to play
I have played this course several times before they shortened it. And really enjoyed it. Now that they have gone 'green', erosion is a problem all over the new areas. All the cement cart paths have trenches on both sides, because of the erosion. You really have to watch it, because some are 8 to 10 inches deep.
I do have fun at the course, and will play it again. (I like to play golf, so I have fun at most of the courses I play)
Hello
Thanks for visiting Boulder Oaks and taking the time to review us. We appreciate your input. We hope you enjoyed your visit. The areas you mentioned are being addressed now that the rainy season is complete (after one of the rainiest Winters on record). We have a strategy we believe that will correct these issues as well as accommodate future rainy seasons. We look forward to seeing you again soon. Happy Golfing...

Starter Course
Good course for people just starting golf. Course is super short, however no two greens are the same. Some are hard as a rock other are super soft and some are very patchy or have a lot of pitch marks. The layout is something to be desired. The 9th hole does not end at the club house and the course has no driving range or even a net to warm up on.
Hello
Thanks for visiting Boulder Oaks and taking the time to review us. I hope you enjoyed your visit. Having just undergone some major renovations last year we are still working on updates and changes. The four newest greens will be up to the same conditions are the older greens very soon. As for the "pitch marks" those are damages due to recent vandalism on four of our greens. We hope to have those completely recovered by end of month. Thanks for dropping by and we look forward to seeing you again soon. Happy Golfing...

Great deal
Tee'd off at 2pm for $12!!! Enjoyed the new layout, but the fairways on some holes are really tight with not a lot of room for error. About 4 greens were in poor shape, but overall had no complaints. Will definitely visit again.
Hello
Thanks for visiting Boulder Oaks. We appreciate your business and for taking the time to provide us a review. Our course has become much tighter since the renovation and a true "Target Golf" experience. We are recovering from the bi-annual golf course maintenance that we performed two weeks ago. Additionally we plan to extend 4 holes and complete a new "Short Game" Practice Center in the next few weeks. The Greens should be back to normal this weekend. Again thanks for stopping by we hope to see you again soon
Happy Golfing.... The Staff at Boulder Oaks
Hello,
Thanks for choosing Boulder Oaks and for taking time to provide us some input. We apologize for any inconvenience you experienced last week. Our new Starter worked his first shift the day you mentioned and although he received prior training there were a few glitches as you mentioned. Also in an effort to satisfy our customer's requests, we have added a total of over 300 yards to four separate holes (two of our par 5's will now measure over 600 yards from the black tees upon completion). We also reversed the nines two weeks ago to better accommodate requests for bathroom and food/beverage access. New Scorecards were ordered at that time and arrived earlier today with updated information. Finally we will be opening the new Short Game Practice Center and Driving Range Facilities in a few weeks. As you can see we are rapidly implementing some new upgrades to improve the customer experience. Again we apologize for any difficulties you may be experiencing as a result. We appreciate your business and hope to see you again soon. Happy Golfing from the Staff at Boulder Oaks
