Traditional links from yesteryear with good potential.
Not very difficult. Little rough on the edges. Great potential to be a good course with better maintenance. Can be a good in-between a resort course and executive course.
Challenging greens
Small greens with NUMEROUS sand traps surrounding the greens. That was a challenge to score birdies. Play felt a little pushed do to numerous singles behind us. Need to pair up for foursome play.
El Rio
The course was in decent condition for a Tucson muni.
Good course for low price played!!
Grens are in great shape but slow. Fairways need some attention but well worth it if you can play for around 20 bucks. No beverage cart but course goes by the clubhouse 2 times during the round (3 if you count coming in on 18).
Good time.. 4 hour round
Course is in better shape than it was 3 months ago. No slow play at 7:37 in the morning....
Fun
Just started golfing again after many years. A great course to start on. Well kept. My only complaint is that they did not want to honor my golf now reservation price. They said I needed to pay online but that is not an option online. Sort of frustrating.
I enjoyed our round of golf!
Fun course. Some of the sprinklers were leaking. lots of areas with pooling water. Otherwise fun golfing!
Good price for early spring.
Decent course, fun to play occasionally. Course is narrow so if you spray your ball all over, probably not a great choice for play. Course was in good shape, greens are a little small but a good challenge for GIR. El Rio usually has pretty good rates all year round, especially in the winter when most of the city courses have ridiculous rates and very slow pace of play.
Nice greens, fairways need some attention. Range not open
Greens were in excellent condition. The fairways were spotty. Course is flat with tree lined fairways. The range was not open, for no apparent reason.
Great learning course
This is an easy to play course. With wide fairways and not many obstructions it allows for errors will still providing some challenge.
Old Faithful
With Golf prices the way they are these days on most other courses, those of us who have a budget for entertainment can always depend on El Rio to deliver a nice round of affordable golf on a fun course.
Good Muni Course
El Rio is a nice little muni, especially considering its age and location. Plays pretty short. To make up for this (and the loss of many trees in a storm a few years back), the architects have planted several trees in the middle of fairways at rather odd locations. Fun course for a fast round. Conditions are very consistent throughout the year.
historic course
This course is so historic, every golfer should play it at least once. The fairways are straight, but the bunkers around the greens are challenging and the greens themselves are undulating and tough (but slow...they aren't trimmed as much as should be). Fairways are in bad condition, greens are in okay to good condition.
I enjoyed checking out this Muni. Fast round with friendly folks I met there. I enjoyed learning more about the history of the course online.
Unfortunetly the fairways were being aerated.
Road close by someone honked on my downswing...ended up being the best drive I had all day.
Don't miss the Wall of Fame.
Apparently Lee Trevino never played here but many famous folk and golfers did back when it was a country club.
Recently aerated fairways, but greens and tee boxes in nice shape.
The fairways were recenly aerated and it makes for difficult play on the faiurways. However, the greens and the fringe of the greens are in the best condition of any course I played in the last couple of weeks.
Very slow greens. Unimaginative course design.
Nearly every green had a sand trap on both front edges. Every hole looked the same. Course design very boring.
Employee managing the check in was very terse and unfriendly. Starter was grumpy and rude.
Play was slow due to walkers followed by cart riders.
Would not recommend this course for vacationing golfers. Would not return to .
Green fees posed at course were cheaper than we paid on Ggolfnow.
Great beginner course!
I am a novice golfer and I really enjoyed this course. I have played on other courses in Az and did not like them as much.
This course was disappointing
The extreme amount of sand bunkers made it challenging. 90% of the course was dead grass which made it confusing on where the next hole was. We will not return here.
city has no pride
this course has a lot of history to it. It is too bad that the city can't take better care of it. they did not overseed the fairways and the greens were very bumpy with alot of grass missing. the golf carts are very old. you end breathing alot of fumes. but i like playing the course, i hope that the city will start taking better care of it.
The course has been "let go" by the City.
The course has been "let go" by the City. Could be a good track for moderate to high handicappers. Good walking course.
