Ready for winter
Everything looking good, greens rolling mid-fast , smooth, holding fine. Bunkers decent, cart paths can always use work. I think the best city course value, and nice scenery as well. Can play slow, as there are hazards and desert to avoid. Good bar and food if you have the time as well.
Good Challenge
Definitely have to play it twice to know where you will run out of with driver. If you play to the 150 marker u will make it easier on yourself. Layout of the greens are good. A little shaggy but ok...Several of the tee boxes need to be leveld. On one of them the ball is atleast six inches above/below your feet.. A good challenge..will play again.
Might as well not have tee times
The course was in the best shape I've ever seen for a city of tucson course but the way it's managed is bad. I had to play behind an 8 some on the back 9 but thats probably due to a lack of ranger, but it was still quicker than the front. What might keep me from returning is the fact that I had a 2:23 tee time and I didn't tee off until almost 2:40 because the starter let a pair that didn't have a tee time go ahead of me at 2:23, and one of them was clearly a beginner that hit every shot as it lied, no dropping with your experienced partner. This continued for the entire front nine. You get what you get for $40 I guess.
Vast improvement
Fred Enke has undergone a vast improvement over the last couple of years. Tee box, fairways, and the greens were pretty close to excellent! Even the bunkers have been cleaned up. Brush and trees cut back. Looking forward to the next round of golf at Fred Enke!!!!
What a Challenge
From the first hole, a straightforward par four, to the last hole, a very difficult but straightforward par four, you are challenged with a desert variety of doglegs, changes of elevations and surrounding desert habitat. This course will challenge your skills in many ways but don't get bogged down, keep up with the group in front of you. It is probably the most difficult of the city courses but it is in very good shape and the greens will remain so if you fix your ball mark and one other one at every opportunity. Take good care of this gem and enjoy the challenges.
Bring a map
While the greens and fairways were in a good condition, if slow, it was definitely rough around the edges. The worst thing is the lack of signs though, it is so easy to get lost !
Great day
Course was in great shape. Beast round of the year.
Slow play
Course was good, weather was great. My only knock was the pace of play, its hard to get in a groove when you swingung once in very 20 min
Fred enke
Great course layout and conditions.
Pace was slowed by a few— could be improved by an overbearing course marshal pushing walkers to pair up.. but dose really want that?
Was average to me :4 hours for 18 holes
Today, it was really windy, but still a lot of fun
We knew what the local weather forecast was when we arrived at the course. It was going to be a gusty and windy front 9, but everything calmed down by the time we were on the back 9. The golf course was in great shape. Many pin placements were challenging, but that is what we should like, right? There was a slower foursome two groups ahead of us, and maybe they were delayed by a group in front of them. The pace of play worked out wonderfully to give our group time to socialize more.
