del Lago Golf Club
About
del Lago Golf Club sits at an elevation of 3,400 feet, enjoying a temperature that is five degrees cooler than Tucson in the summer, which makes a big difference under the hot Arizona sun. Winding through the hills and valleys of the high desert, the golf course features over 120 feet of elevation changes that present tricky uneven lies. The dramatic undulations also offer beautiful views of the Rincon and Santa Catalinas Mountain ranges. Golfers start at the highest point on the course and then play down into the valley before getting to the back nine, which plays along the Pantano Wash. The first hole is the only forced carry on the course, the remaining holes are friendlier off the tees. Seven lakes dot the golf course, coming into play on six holes, and there is also heavy bunkering around the greens.

Poor conditions
The fairways are awful. Don’t go into the rough. It’s just foot tall weeds. Greens and tee boxes are okay. I used to play here a lot, but since they got new ownership, the quality continues to nose dive.
Used to be great
I’ve been playing Del Lago for years. Over the last few months, the course quality has consistently declined. Fairways are absolutely awful. The rough is more like a foot of weeds. They changed the clubhouse restaurant to a Mediterranean style. Not exactly what I want after a round. I won’t be playing here again until the new ownership can figure out how to actually run a golf course.
Great!
It was great, course was in great condition greens were soft. Fairways were a little dry and rough, but overall solid. Staff was friendly and hot dog in the restaurant was delicious!
Good But
The course is a good test of golf for the good to average golfer. There is plenty of variety to the holes. The greens and tee areas are in excellent condition. Alas, the fairways were poor to fair depending on which hole you were on.
Slow pace
Couple groups in front of us were slow, therefore the group of young man in front of us took that as an opportunity to get drunk on the back nine. We did see the ranger a couple times but he never showed up after they got drunk and started driving the carts all crazy even jumping them out of old traps. They were also damaging the course with their clubs. Playing multiple balls from multiple locations from around the course.
Staff is really great
Fairways are really rough, some of the tee boxes need work but overall it was fun to play.
fairways are terrible
Del Lago used to be a beautiful course, The greens are in good shape but the fairways are very bad. Spotty patches of weeds. And the cart paths are crumbling and very rough. I would not play there again for more than $15.
Used to be a phenomenal course...
Last played del Lago 5 years ago. It was in great condition. This time, not so much, but there are reasons for the terrible conditions of the fairways. The ranger let me know they unexpectedly lost 30% of their water and had to sacrifice the fairways and couldn't plan to overseed in time. Greens and tee boxes were great. Hopefully it'll get sorted out. Still a fun time, just a little disappointed. Staff was super friendly and talkative.
I hate to say it--but play someplace else
The tee boxes are great,, the greens are great. The fairways are non existant. They have very little water... they have had to make decisions to survive. The price reflects that. The staff is great and so is the place to eat. The good news? If your ball lands on the fairway,,, it's going to roll another 50 yards.
Fairways were basically dead grass and dirt
I’ve played this course multiple times and this is the absolute worst I’ve ever seen it. The greens and tee boxes were in great shape, but the fairways were dead grass and dirt. Apparently the course sold off some of its water rights and lost about half of their water last summer. They weren’t able to overseed or take care of the fairways so it all dies off. They did say they are prepared for this summer and things should improve, but for $60+ a round I expect better conditions. The only good thing about this corse right now are the greens, driving range, and tee boxes. I really like the course layout so it’s a shame that it got this bad.
Slow
Backed up at every hole. Almost 5 hours to play 18 second time in a row
Poor fairways. Excellent greens.
Lack of overseeding has resulted in poor condition of fairways.
Greens were in excellent shape.
Tough one
Course is in pretty good shape. Good greens. Pretty challenging for my level of play but got paired up with some guys that know the course and had a great time!
Needs maintenance
Greens were in excellent condition. Fairways and bunkers not so. Thin clumps of grass in fairways, traps little to no sand.
