Avila Beach Golf Resort
About
Avila Beach Golf Resort is located right along the bay, giving it a scenic setting that has made it the most well known of the Central Coast golf courses. The layout offers plenty of variety with a hilly front nine that features small, often elevated, greens that are surrounded by oak-lined valleys and a back nine that that is routed across a tidal estuary. Golfers should be prepared for forced carries over water and multi-tiered greens on the backside. At first the course may seem short, but thanks to the dramatic elevation changes and numerous other challenges, it will begin to feel much longer. There are several severe doglegs throughout as well as tight approaches. Avila Beach Golf Resort is not a layout where you can easily "grip it and rip it." Rather, accuracy and good course-management are rewarded.

Great price!
Great price for 18 holes with a cart and a small bucket of balls. $14 can't beat it. I would recommend it to anyone!
Avila Beach GR
I really enjoyed ABGR. A real treat. I found the course to be well maintained, with character and challenge in equal proportions. It was my first time there, but certainly not my last. I'll be back.
This course has broad waterways to cross. It also needs some grooming.
The course was in need of some grooming. The big challenge (for a woman and intermediate golfer) is the broad water crossing - the river.
This course has challenging hole locations.
This course is challenging with a peaceful environment. Deer and wild turkey are a common sight.
Worth a deal
Really enjoyed the course and view. I would say that I would not pay the $100 plus for a round, but the discounted rate of $44 was well worth it.
For a Golf Resort, I would have expected better carts...GPS, cooler for water, etc.
Do not play here
What an awful experience playing at Avila. Last I played here was in 1995 and I remember saying I would never play here again, but hey, after 17 years it must have gotten better. Was I wrong.
1) the round took 5.5 hours...on a Tuesday!
2) I called the clubhouse to ask for a Marshall and they didn't have one. They weren't apologetic at all.
3) poor layout. A number of holes you need to walk 200 some yards between holes.
4) a bunch if Mickey Mouse holes. Some with really short dog legs, others with completely blind shots over hills off the tee.
5) finally, it's a beach resort course where there are a bunch of 30+ handicappers taking mulligans every few holes. (see point 1 above)
Excellent Course!! Would like to play it every day as their are many challenges along the way!
Very good course as there are many challenges/shots/obstacles to play though 18.
Starting @1.. Avoid the creek on the right during TEE OFF! .. @2.. UPHILL 190 yard par3! OB to left .. Steep slope to right!
@3.. Long drive PAR 5 .. HYBRID 4 over the INFINITY HILL with a wedge on in regulation??
@4 .. TOP down and split the TREES to the HIDDEN DOG LEG LEFT par 4! ... LAY UP and play for the 8 IRON in regulation!
@5 .. BOMB the TEE shot to the LEFT .. HIT THE TOP of HILL and then drop to the RIGHT for a chance to GIR the hole. Make sure to club UUP as their is a 40 yard hill to climb.
You get it.. fun course and the GOLF NOW is seamless!
Nice layout, beautiful scenery, small greens!
Overall this was a nice course to play. It is well maintained and there are some challenging features. A few of the greens are very small and quite difficult to get up and down on. I look forward to playing this course again when I am back in the area.
GREAT WEATHER & FRIENDLY STAFF
A good challenging course with friendly staff and great weather. Recommend for 1st timers request pairing with someone who has course knowledge as the course has a few blind greens.
Fun challenging course. Beautiful scenery !
Green were fast and well groomed! Fairways were in good condition. Beautiful backdrops on every tee box. One of my favorite courses!!
Beautiful!
Loved this course...very challenging for me as a new golfer but beautiful. Great condition....loved it!
Fun course in beautiful setting.
Great value with hot deals booked on Golfnow. Staff friendly but late opening shop. Really liked the course would love to play again when back in area.
Interesting, quirky, fun holes
This course is harder than it looks - especially from the back tees. The holes are unique and a lot of fun to play. One par five even features a blind shot to the green unless your drive is perfectly placed.
It isn't a lush, manicured course but I don't care so much about that when it is so much fun to play.
greens in great shape
fairways and fringes were in very good condition.arrived at 9:45,fire had distroyed ball collecter, told no range balls, given 1/2 bucket for three players when we said they were included in price.no food service upon arrival, had expected to purchase light breakfast.prices for beer, gatorade and snacks were country club prices, excessive.
Pace of play
Pace of play was very good. Played the round in 15 under 4 hours. Fairways and greens in very good shape. The only thing that needs a lot help is their driving range.
Thank you for your kind words and for taking advantage of our deals while you were on vacation. We appreciate your support and hope you had a great time.
