This course used to be considered a hidden gem. Now, Oak Valley Golf Course in Beaumont is an off-the-beaten-path known reasonable joy. Stopping on the way from Los Angeles to Palm Springs for a golf detour is no fool's play. Not with the fast greens, dramatic elevation changes and swerving fairways available at Oak Valley in Beaumont.
A Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley design, Oak Valley is probably best known for greens that are anything but desert typical. Speed is the name of the game here, with a tap sometimes too much on a downhill putt.
Recognition does not travel that quickly. It took a decade for Oak Valley to get a four star rating from Golf Digest. Once it did, Beaumont suddenly became a golf stopping spot on the Palm Springs express. Now, you're considered a smart golfer if you linger on the way to Palm Springs.
"It's a nice getaway from the crowds in the desert, as well as some of the other, more populated golf areas," head pro Scott Arnold said. "It's almost like being in the country. No houses line the fairways. Each hole is different. And because of the way it's laid out, you often can't even see another hole from the one you're playing."

Worth the drive
We drove 40 mins to get to the course. It’s in great shape right now. Worth the money even for playing on a Sunday. It was a lot of fun.

Great course!
Overall I'd say this course was very nice. The holes were all nice and green and well taken care of. About half of the fairways are wide and generous. There are quite a few more sand traps than your average course which increase the difficulty to a degree but nothing crazy. The greens are more often large and open but pin placement can make them challenging, there are no flat greens. I will be back to this course for sure.
Fairways horrible
Greens are great here but fairways went down the tubes. Used to be super nice here. Extremely patchy and very hard grass in the fairways. It’s great if you drive well because your ball will run but not so good for a second shot off the fairway
Great course
The course is in great shape. Tee boxes, fairways, bunkers and greens are excellent. Made 18 holes in 4hrs and 10 minutes on a Sunday afternoon. The driving range and practice area is first class. There was no beverage cart and only a soda vending machine at the turn.
Fairways are in BAD shape
I have played this course numerous times and is one of my favorite courses. Today during my visit , I noticed that the fairways are in terrible shape. They were hard and dry. I hope they get it back in shape soon.
Great course bad condition
Great course to play. Pace was great but the course is in bad shape. Thought layout good greens but needs to be maintained.
Don't be fooled
The amenities were rather spartan but the course was great. I would recommend that they invest in new carts first. Those were rather beatup.
Over played over rated
This course gets lots of play and it shows! If you have to pay full price play some where else. If you score a deal play it but be prepared for a 5 hour round.
Average player
The course as always was a pleasure to play. I absolutely love the scenery. The greens had been recently air rated, that was not advertised so a dig for that. The restaurant staff needs some better customer service training. I stood at the bar for about 10 minutes saw the attendant walking around I was never acknowledged. I left without buying anything. Overall I love this place.
