Oak Valley Golf Club
About
This course used to be considered a hidden gem. Now, Oak Valley Golf Course in Beaumont is an off-the-beaten-path known reasonable joy. Stopping on the way from Los Angeles to Palm Springs for a golf detour is no fool's play. Not with the fast greens, dramatic elevation changes and swerving fairways available at Oak Valley in Beaumont.
A Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley design, Oak Valley is probably best known for greens that are anything but desert typical. Speed is the name of the game here, with a tap sometimes too much on a downhill putt.
Recognition does not travel that quickly. It took a decade for Oak Valley to get a four star rating from Golf Digest. Once it did, Beaumont suddenly became a golf stopping spot on the Palm Springs express. Now, you're considered a smart golfer if you linger on the way to Palm Springs.
"It's a nice getaway from the crowds in the desert, as well as some of the other, more populated golf areas," head pro Scott Arnold said. "It's almost like being in the country. No houses line the fairways. Each hole is different. And because of the way it's laid out, you often can't even see another hole from the one you're playing."

Oak Valley back 9 Photo submitted by VICRAZ7 on 12/09/2013
Course is designed tough, but fair.
To start off, tee time was at 8:47am and we tee'd off at 8:47am. They are very good at making sure you are not rushed but that the rate of play is maintained. And if your not from the area, it is COLD at Oak Valley in the early morning, FYI. Now to the course it was extremely well maintained. Beautiful fairways, nice tee boxes and thick rough. Keep you ball on the fairway and you will have a great round but find yourself in the rough more than not and you will be taking a few extra strokes. The sand is well maintained also (I hit my share of traps yesterday). Everything is GREEN right now so if your looking to golf in this area, check out Oak Valley and you won't be disappointed. All in all this is an excellent course and I will be making my way back soon.
The course was excellent
Definitely one of the best course in the Inland Empire. Every tee area, fairway and green was excellent condition. The wind was blowing very hard, which made for extremely difficult play. the greens were PGA fast I enjoyed the course and would recommend to anyone new to the area to play this course. in addition to the nice course, the scenery surrounding the area was awesome.
Good value, good course
Nice, challenging layout from all tees.
Enjoyed the round and will play again.
Great Place to Play
Course was in excellent condition, staff was super friendly. Played a foursome and finished a round in about 4 hours. Course was in great shape from tees to greens. Greens in excellent shape and a little challenging to read, made for a very enjoyable round. Will probably play there again a couple times this month if I have enough sick days left.
Will Return
Course was in good condition. Greens were in great condition. Practice your putting - challenging greens. Being in the fairway is essential on most holes; o.b. is unforgiving. Good course and a great value.
Man in clubhouse was upset because we were only 3 minutes from tee time when we checked in. Luckily, we made it just in time to wait ON EVERY HOLE (except 10 - restroom break at the turn).
Other than bad pace, golf was great.
Great Course
Great golf course. It was in excellent condition and with the exception of a couple of goofs fishing for golf balls, the pace of play was great. Staff were very friendly and got us set up quickly. There was no marshall or beverage cart but there were not many people playing so that was understandable. the greens were in great shape, fairly fast and I found them a challenge. This course demands accuracy and will test every iron in your bag. The only drag about the whole round was that it was Very Windy. Not a fault of the course but really made you think about your club selection :). I will play it again
Something completely different
If you are used to the perfectly manicured courses of Palm Springs, you are in for a surprise at Oak Valley. In many respects it resembles a Scottish links course, just substitute the gorst with underbrush instead.
I always enjoy this course because it is scenic, fun and much less expensive than most of the neighbouring Palm springs courses and only 35 minutes west of the city.
This day the greens were slower than normal and looked like they hadn't been cut, while the fairways were good and the rough was tough to get out of.
Once you tire of the cookie-cutter resort courses give this one a try.
I would go back!
Wind played into the front 9, and calmed down in the evening for the back 9. Course was in great condition, I would definitely play there again.
speedway greens
awsome layout with some standard overseeding issues in the surrounds (just like evry other golf course this year) fairways were crisp and bunkers all raked having dirt instead of sand. second shots not holding the green mostly as they were bent/poa and very hard and fast. I'd say 10 or better. very challenging with a 2 or 3 putt every green. I'm going back soon to play it again when I can now that I know the layout.
It was waste of my time and money.
I arrived ahead of time told starter I was there. The starter told my at my assigned time that I was unable to play because I was a single. I was given raincheck by mangement. It was a waste of my time and cost of gas driving back and forthj to home.
5 hours and 20 minutes
they are trying to put way too many people on the course and the result is waiting on every shot .Our group will not be returning .
Fun Coarse
Enjoyed our round very much. Will play again with friends. Great course for the dollar.
Love the challenge
This course will challenge your short game and putting skills.
A fun challenge
This course has the look of one that they didn't move much earth but placed the holes along a natural landscape. Lots of elevation changes and visually intimidating, it present a golfer with lots of options and tough shots although beginners would not be forced to either lose balls or just give up on a hole. It was a great value compared to the usual $100+ golf in Palm Springs area.
Great pace of play
Lots of players but we still finished in 4:30 hours. Was very impressed with the pace of play
Probably My Favorite So Cal Course
Great course, great layout. You know how some courses have one of two rinky dink/throw away holes? Oak Valley has none. The day we played, the greens were killer hard! If you were not exact, it was bye-bye. Will definitely return!
Second Time
Enjoyed the course both times played. Rates are fair for the condition and views.
Nice Layout
I play this course every time I visit the area, it is one of my favourites. Generally have good weather but was really windy today. Course was in great shape, the greens were extremely fast. The only negative was the condition of some of the green side bunkers. They were in need of attention as the sand was extremely hard packed.
Great Course
Great course, green super fast. Best course and value in the Inland Empire.
Windy day at OaK Valley
Great course! Lots of elevation changes. Fairways in great shape. Greens very fast, which made it difficult to get close to pins. Unfortunately, a slow group ahead of us, and no marshall in sight. Finally let us play through at 15 and 3 empty holes ahead of them.
Very windy which adds a few clubs to shots. Hard to judge at times. Will watch weather reports for wind before booking again.
