This course used to be considered a hidden gem. Now, Oak Valley Golf Course in Beaumont is an off-the-beaten-path known reasonable joy. Stopping on the way from Los Angeles to Palm Springs for a golf detour is no fool's play. Not with the fast greens, dramatic elevation changes and swerving fairways available at Oak Valley in Beaumont.

A Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley design, Oak Valley is probably best known for greens that are anything but desert typical. Speed is the name of the game here, with a tap sometimes too much on a downhill putt.

Recognition does not travel that quickly. It took a decade for Oak Valley to get a four star rating from Golf Digest. Once it did, Beaumont suddenly became a golf stopping spot on the Palm Springs express. Now, you're considered a smart golfer if you linger on the way to Palm Springs.

"It's a nice getaway from the crowds in the desert, as well as some of the other, more populated golf areas," head pro Scott Arnold said. "It's almost like being in the country. No houses line the fairways. Each hole is different. And because of the way it's laid out, you often can't even see another hole from the one you're playing."

Love this course!

This course is in great shape all the way around. It is maintained and manicured very nice. Fairways are green and firm, while the greens were rolling true. Oak Valley provides all golfers with a tough but fair challenge. I really like the variety it has from hole to hole, especially number 3 and 16 (personal favorites). I look forward to playing this again soon!

Fun but Thirsty!

Hadn't been to Oak Valley in years and had forgotten most of the course. Remembered it to be challenging and it was! Great shape, and fun to play. But played it in the middle of day in the summer and it would have been nice to see a beverage cart or two.

Great golf course. As good as it gets

This is by far my favorite course . Fairways are well kept. Greens are in great shape. Bunkers are not bad. Challenging course but well worth the money.

Beautiful rolling fairways

My wife and I had a fantastic day playing Oak Valley. Course has challenges IE . fairway bunkers that made you think on your tee and fairway shots. Greens were great. We would play Oak Valley again.

pace of play problems were intermidable

waited on every singe shot starting on the first hole. teed of at 222, quit the course at 630 on the 14th out of frustration. it only kept getting worse as the round went on. no rangers to speed up pace on the course. backed up two groups deep on every hole, in front of us and behind us. This was on a monday afternoon.

elevation inspiration !

Fun and challenging layout..with many elevation changes and plenty of shots that require thought and imagination..bent grass greens very receptive even on approaches with woods.abundant wildlife abounds, on just about every occasion I have spot bobcat or coyote, sometimes both.relaxing setting and good golf, who could want more.

great course. greens are receptive.

Everything about this course was awesome. The fees were reduced because of midday rate. But at 55.00 green fees with cart this course is a great value. The amount of golfers on the course was surprising. Even in the middle of the week thought the turnout was very low. The driving range was in great shape and the putting green before 1 tee is exactly what you are going to get when you hit the course.

Tough greens

Great course, every hole is different with its own difficulties. Greens are fast with plenty of slope, not your resort style. Plenty of tees to choose from.

Fast greens

This was the second time that I've used GolfNow to book at Oakvalley. This course is very well-maintained the greens are very fast lots of fairway bunkers you need to really know how to play precision shots on this course very challenging. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone who wants a challenging game. And if you keep an eye out on GolfNow you can get some Really good deals for this course. I loved it. Thanks Golfnow

DO NOT PLAY ON THE WEEKENDS!!!

I love this course, but mark my words, no matter how good the deal is, DO NOT PLAY THIS COURSE ON THE WEEKENDS OR HOLIDAYS, unless you like playing 6 hour rounds of golf. The Ranger is useless as most are. He talks the talk, but nothing ever happens. In Nevada, I personally saw a ranger give a warning to 2 groups, then later, removed them from the course. I wish they would start doing that here in CA.
The course itself is great and CartGirl Lisa is very friendly, but it does not make up for sitting and waiting on every shot.
I hope this helps.

Great Course to challenge yourself on

Greens fast, smooth with well disguised breaks.
I would suggest players with a 15+ handicap play from the Gold markers for a more enjoyable round.
This course presents enough challenges from the fairways. Do your best to play from there.
We never waited on any groups in front of us nor were pushed at any time. Worth the extra couple bucks.
