This course used to be considered a hidden gem. Now, Oak Valley Golf Course in Beaumont is an off-the-beaten-path known reasonable joy. Stopping on the way from Los Angeles to Palm Springs for a golf detour is no fool's play. Not with the fast greens, dramatic elevation changes and swerving fairways available at Oak Valley in Beaumont.

A Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley design, Oak Valley is probably best known for greens that are anything but desert typical. Speed is the name of the game here, with a tap sometimes too much on a downhill putt.

Recognition does not travel that quickly. It took a decade for Oak Valley to get a four star rating from Golf Digest. Once it did, Beaumont suddenly became a golf stopping spot on the Palm Springs express. Now, you're considered a smart golfer if you linger on the way to Palm Springs.

"It's a nice getaway from the crowds in the desert, as well as some of the other, more populated golf areas," head pro Scott Arnold said. "It's almost like being in the country. No houses line the fairways. Each hole is different. And because of the way it's laid out, you often can't even see another hole from the one you're playing."

Oak Valley beautiful golf course

Me and my wife golfed Oak Valley for the first time very impressed. We are both average golfers and enjoyed a good round. Golf course was in very good shape fairway cut and greens very fast. Some challenging holes fairways narrow keeper down the middle and you do fine. Lots of up and down on holes with beautiful trees and scenery on many holes. One of the nicest golf courses we played on in the area at very reasonable rates.

HORRIBLE!!! DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!

This place is horrible! I have played many courses in this area and all over the Inland Empire and this is one of the worst! Lower end courses who are 50% cheaper have way better conditions then this place! Pace of play was the worst I have ever experienced with Marshalls present physically but unfortunately not mentally. They were too busy being parked reading a news paper as we saw it! If your going as far a Beaumont to play golf then do yourself a favor and play at Morongo or Yucaipa or better yet, just keep driving to Palm Springs area for a way better course and experience!

Oak Valley

Course is great. Only March so still quite “wintry”. Rough was up and greens were hard. Typical of this time of year

Very well kept

Very nice condition. Hard par 3 holes. Plays very long from the tips but the most challenging things are the greens.

disappointed

Disappointed in the overall condition of the course. First time in 10+ years to play here. Rough was too long, fairways patchy. Greens OK

Out of the rotation

Course is bad shape besides the greens. Fairways need a lot of work… Greens are like an ice rink and the rough is to thick. Almost impossible to find your ball anywhere around the green. Not fun looking for the ball in weeds and clovers. Management needs to step up and turn the course around if they want new customers. Never returning anytime soon or ever

Oak Valley

The course was in good shape. The rough was very rough. If you didn't hit the fairway, there was a good chance of losing your ball. The pace on the front nine was excellent. The pace on the second nine was very slow due to a 4 some that was extremely slow. The course is quite hilly and challenging but fair for a decent golfer.

Rough needs to be maintained. If ball goes any off fairway it is extremely difficult to find. Even when you know exactly where it is. This ruined the day for us always looking for our balls. Wont be going back.

Good course with devil weather

Fine course playing. Holes are well kept, greens roll very easy but are difficult to read. Fairways have real grass, which is very nice. We had to stop as the rain turned into hail and lightning. It may be thoughtful to adress shelters against the lightning while on the course.

Good experiences again

It was over 25-30 years ago I played Oak Valley the last time before I came here again this week.

Golf course was not as nice as it was before, looked a little running down and lack of good maintenance.

However the layout and holes and greens setting still very good and challenging.

If it was not on the way for my trip to Palm Springs, this golf course is quite far away from Los Angeles.

Bring Your "A" Game

Quick greens with lots of undulation. Approach shots require precision and there's generally difficult scoring conditions if you miss the green. Five tee boxes available. Don't bite off more than you can chew, or you may be in for a long afternoon when the wind kicks up. White tees, the middle set of the five available, has a rating comparable to championship tees at most other courses. Pin placements can be diabolical, so pay close attention to avoid the dreaded 3-jack biting you frequently. It's a fair test, but very challenging if you aren't dialed in.

Oak Valley

Overall the courses in pretty good shape, the fairways are pretty thin, but not too bad and the rough was tough but that’s a good thing, would recommend to go around the Golf there

Challenging layout but needs a little more care

Played from the white tees and the course is certainly long enough from these tees for most reasonably skilled players.

Greens are in good condition and fast.

Fairways are in average condition with patchiness all around. Very tight lies in many cases. So they could improve here.

Bunkers in good condition and well positioned.

This is a challenging layout with fairways tight on many of the Par 4s and 5s. Therefore, driver is not always the best option off the tee.

I will certainly play here again and I’m glad that I decided to play here given it was only because both Morongo courses down the road were not available.

Poor Condition

He course itself is adequately laid out. The staff is nice and the greens are in very good shape and very tough. The tee boxes are adequate. The fairways are terrible and consist either of totally dried out grass which is hard to hit from or overgrown grass where you easily lose your ball.
