Chula Vista Golf Course

This course was pretty boring with not a lot going on. A lot of the course was just going up and down fairways which was boring.

There was not a lot of nature on the course, just ducks

Oh and by the way, 4 or 5 holes look right into the sun, blinding you and searing your eyeballs.

Definitely would not play again, much rather play 1 of the fine muni courses San Diego has to offer( balboa, TP, MB)

Pace of play was snail-like. No one would even think about letting you play through and the “Marshall” just drove around saying hi to people. Course was in bad shape, greens were decent!

We planned on walking, but when we got there decided to ride and it was honestly a good decision given how much duffing we did during the round. That said, it was a fun round. The course is in rough shape, a ton of dirt and not alot of grass. But that could be because I kept missing fairways.

I though the greens were well hidden and the course presented a decent challenge for a golfer of my skill level.

I’ve played here before , my son hasn’t , it’s been some time since I’ve played , my son has been playing a lot lately . It was a fun day , course was not super nice , but understand with the pandemic . I will play here again

It was a perfect day, not a cloud in sight and just a little wind. Fairways were a little rough, but the greens roll true and the tee boxes are level. That being said, I may never wish to play here again.

The pace of play was the biggest issue. On such a perfect day there can be no excuse for such slow play other than negligence/indifference by the management. Myself and my playing partners gave up after 4 hours saw us having just finished hole 11. If we were even able to finish, it would have been at least a 6.5 hour round. Must have averaged a 10 minute wait on every tee box. Utterly disgraceful.

Also beware: some holes on the back nine have the next tee box adjacent to the green/fairway you just exited -- look alive, because the patrons playing near us couldn't find it in their hearts to yell fore; almost hitting us on 3 separate occasions. The course management may want to consider posting a sign about golfers' liability and encourage them to be more forward-thinking.

There's are a ton of unplayable spots throughout the course, so much dead grass or just a marshland of mud and I mean smack in the middle of the fairway. I mean there were even sections of the green you could put on because they were dirt and sand. They charge an arm and a leg to play and the course is in terrible shape, just not a good experience for the money. The bloody mary I got at the turn was the highlight of the round.

Designed and built by Billy Casper. Greens are in great shape. The Fairways are in the process of getting repaired. Tee boxes are green, but need leveling. It is a tight course and does not favor a way ward bomber. The wind plays a factor so always consider the weather. I played during the holiday season so lots of groups of once a year golfers. The previous weeks the pace was fast. The front 9 play easier, but the back can be brutal if you don't know the layout. The back has many hazards you can't see off the tee box. Actually, there is also a lot more waiting on the back 9 because there are many hazards to carry. Play close attention to hole 11 and 14. It may not be the best course, but the layout is amazing. Walkable, but they have plenty of carts.

Conditions were rough at best, with more dirt and dead grass than not. Paired with long hole after hole it began to get ridiculous. Also pace of play was definitely a problem with two even sometime three parties backed up at a tee box. Staff was very kind, with maintenance being quick to fix a broken cart and margaritas were enjoyably made. Would not recommend to a unfortunately.

Great course , fairways need works.greens are in very good condition. Chula Vista is one of the toughest courses in the south bay.

what more can you say - they are trying, but too many rounds and too many hacks like me = best value in town for little grass and a longish round
