Chula Vista Golf Course

Greens are in good shape, can’t say the same for the fairways. Good course to practice at.

With all the course closures (Doubletree, Carmel Mountain, Salt Creek, impending Riverwalk), Chula Vista Municipal's only saving grace is that it is still operating. Bare fairways are inexcusable. Same with uneven tee boxes. Most greens fine, others diseased. Starter at first tee barks at us for two players who are late; we bark back at him that they're not with us. Impolite at best, downright incompetent and rude at worst, assuming all foursomes are "together". Go to Bonita GC down the street - much more enjoyable experience with superior amenities.

65 % to 70% of fairways are dirt and dead grass, definitely can use lots of water or some rainy days. Greens are playable, a little slow but will do. Hopefully will rain soon...Fairways can turn into a concrete slab.

Judging by what I observed as far as course conditions, this course will not be ready to play until February 2020. If the maintenance crew does everything right as far as bringing the course up to par, 3 to 4 months will be needed.

Play this course a couple times a year right now it’s in pretty terrible condition, the fairways are being aerated right now and greens will be getting punched very shortly as well, I’m excited to go back once the grass comes back, just wouldn’t recommend playing at this time give it a month or two for conditions to improve. Pace is always a little slower. Staff is always great.

This is not a place i would pay any more than $12 to play. That being said, at $2 more than a large bucket of balls at most driving ranges its a good value for some practice. Hot deal or not at all here.

First time playing Chula Vista golf course. The Course is not in good shape at all. The fairways didn't have much grass, the greens were fairly thick with patches of crab grass in them and the even the tee boxes didn't have much grass. Everyone at the facility was nice and they are working on the grass. Also the range balls were barely hittable, very poor shape balls. I did like the layout of the course but it's in very rough shape.

The course was terrible! Crab grass and bare spots dominated all the fairways; 2 holes were under construction and we weren’t warned. Never in my life has another golfer come up in his cart screaming at us to move the cart so he could hit - (cart was fine and he hit up on us, then tried to be all nice and chatty)- so then play through (we always let people play thru, but he was with a walker and had to wait at 1 hole and it didn’t occur to us). I mention this bc it seemed like a bunch of grumpy locals who don’t want the public at their private party. We’ll play somewhere else on Friday!)

Other than finishing in record time which was due to nobody being on the course, the course was in terrible shape. Not coming back anytime soon

Fun day hitting the new hybrid club. People there are always nice. Course could use some help from Mother Nature. Greens and bunkers are still fun. Tee boxes in decent shape.

This course is in dire need of a greenskeeper..The fairways are now in horrible condition, almost like it has never seen water. Greens were in pretty good shape a couple months ago, but they are getting in pretty bad shape now. Pace of play on a Sunday afternoon was pretty good, but maybe that’s because people are starting to play other courses.

First, for the price it’s a deal. If you are after groomed to 3/4 “ fairways with beautiful over watered grass throughout the course you will not find it here.. It’s a muni course for Gods sake. Go play Bonita if you are after longer grass on the fairways and players playing from the tips driving it a full 175,or spinner drives into the other fairways.

Secondly, the pace of play can get brutal as there are a lot of people walking to chase there balls..If I want to exercise I will go the gym..Bammm
