Lakes/Canyon at Blacklake Golf Course
About
There are 27 holes of championship golf at Blacklake Golf Resort, allowing golfers to mix and match to suit their preference and skill level. The holes are divided into three nines: the Canyons, Oaks, and Lakes, that can be played in different 18-hole combinations. Located on the Nipomo Mesa along California's Central Coast, each nine takes its name from the rugged landscape. The Lakes/Canyon combination strikes a good balance between being challenging and player friendly. The front nine is more player friendly, starting off with a confidence-boosting par 3 and with fairways that are wide and forgiving. It's rather long, though, and therefore not to be underestimated. The back nine tumbles across undulating terrain, incorporating elevated tee boxes that overlook the lush fairways below. The various vistas and valleys invite refreshing sea breezes to keep you cool.

Blacklake
You have 3 nine hole courses to select from. The Oaks is the most challenge.
Greens and tees OK, fairways suffer from the California Central Coast draught conditions
Greens are slow but consistent and run true. Greens are in decent condition. Tees are good. Fairways are suffering due to the California Central Coast draught conditions. It is highly likely to get an unfair lie in the middle of the fairway down in a hole. In competitive conditions this could be devastating. Unless you get a special price, which are available, the course is over priced for it's conditions. The course layout is unique and challenging and tests all areas of your game.
Thanks for taking the time to review us, Puddinpal! We understand your concerns about the fairways, and we wish the drought conditions weren’t affecting us so harshly. We appreciate your patience with us as we try to fight this issue. It’s great to hear that you found our course to be both challenging and memorable – that’s just the kind of effect we’re trying to achieve. Thanks again for your review, and we hope to see you again soon!
Great course for the value!

Great accommodating staff
Staff always very helpful. Three different 9-hole courses keeps the flow going. Golf Now deal included a hot dog and drink with the purchase!
Can't beat that.

Always fun to play...
We always enjoy playing at Blacklake. Friendly staff. Nice greens. Good pace.
Great deal
The course was great, not busy and the price was a steal.
exceptional value
This is an older course and needs work, but of good value for the cost.
Solid Course
Blacklake is great in that it has three different 9 hole course so you get a different 18 almost every time. The course isn't the fanciest but is definitely a good value if you can get a deal. Much more affordable that the surrounding courses.
Great day of golf
Had a great day playing golf at blacklake golf course. Started off with a triple wasn't too worried about it because it was the first hole. The second hole par 5. I got it there in 3 shots one being a muffed worm burner. Then I putted it in for birdie about a 12 footer. Next two holes I got par. Not bad. Best hole of the day number 5 par 3.
150 to the flag. I got a hole in one!!! One bounce going at it and it dissappeared. Second one I've gotten in my golf career first one this year. That's why you keep playing. Ended up shooting an 87. Pretty good for me. Anyways just wanted to share love golfing here always have fun.

1st timer
Staff was friendly. Practice facility was clean & not busy. Played in 3 hours. Fairways were a bit rough, dry in spots but thick in others.
Worst experience at this course
I have played this course on several different occasions. This was the worst of them all. The person at the counter was not overly friendly. The course was in bad condition and the pace of play, it took us 3 hours to play the front nine and we walked away and did not finish our round. Only saw an ambassador once and they did not seem to tell the group ahead of us to pick up the pace. Very disappointing. With all the courses in the area to play I think I would chose a different course if this conditions stay the same.
Great day for golf
It was a perfect day for golf. The weather was great and the course was good, except fit the greens. They had brown spots on every green that made the ball veer off line. You couldn't beat the price and I shot the best score this summer.
Rundown & rugged
This course was probably nice 20 years ago, but obviously the course is not kept up any more. The tees are tore up, the greens aren't watered or maintained. There is poison oak EVERYWHERE. The cart seat had duck tape holding it together when we last went. This place needs a facelift to maintain my business.
great golf for price
This course has been a good place to golf however, due to drought and water shortage, the course was very dry and ground very hard making play somewhat difficult feeling like you're hitting off of concrete. My hopes are that water conditions change for the betterment of this facility.
Cow pasture
this course we decided to play due to the reviews on the golf course web site. I guess all the reviews were from empolyees at the course. This course was in terrible shape. We played the Oak and Canyon sides. Oak side there wasn't a green patch of grass anywhere to be found. The canyon wasn't much better. I would have been happier if the club house explained the condition of the course before we started. At one of the holes we met up with one of the marshall's and talked about the condition. All he did was roll his eyes and really didn't have any comment. He knew why we were asking.
I don't suggest this course until California gets some water. Funny tho, we played another course not too far away and it was in great shape. I don't know if the owners are just letting the course go or what. There are many other courses in the area that are in a lot better shape.
good round
Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Course was in good condition considering the drought California is experiencing.
Pace of play was good with no delays.
Fun
Pretty course. Need to shoot straight as several of the holes have narrow shots from the tees. I lost only 2 balls. Both went into water on same hole. One was a chip onto false front of the green and rolled into water. Not fair. My friend who is a 70s golfer took 9 penalty shots on Oaks course. Oh and my wife beat me. That hardly ever happens. But she is good. On the 6th hole of Lakes you figure out why it is called Blacklake...
Well laid out great signage
Great staff well laid out very accommodating we will be going back soon.
bang for the buck
The course is in wonderful shape! We had a great day of golf and huge discount. The staff was friendly and helpful and nothing spoiled our round.
Thanks for your review! We hope all of our courses prove to be enjoyable as well as challenging. Hope to see you again soon!
