Oaks/Canyon at Blacklake Golf Course
About
Blacklake Golf Resort boasts 27 holes of championship golf that are divided into three nines called the Oaks, Canyons, and Lakes. The nines can be played in three different 18-hole combinations. The Oaks/Canyons Course is the toughest of the three. The front nine features narrow fairways that wind through mature coastal oaks. If you're not careful, you may find yourself in the woods on this challenging target-style layout. The back nine doesn't get any easier with a layout that tumbles across rolling terrain. With the resort's location on the Nipomo Mesa along California's Central Coast, the elevated tee boxes on the Canyons nine allows for some stunning views. The location also invites refreshing sea breezes. In addition to the three golf courses, there is also a 275-yard driving range available with more than 30 grass and artificial teeing areas as well as three putting, chipping, and pitching greens.

Hi, Gunner1818. We would love to hear more about your 4-star experience on our course. Please tell us what we can do to earn that last star, and thanks for golfing at Lakes/Canyon at Blacklake Golf Course!
Black Pond is more appropriate moniker
No lake exist on or near the course. Some "mucky ponds" do show themselves, at times. The false advertising aside, the uniqueness of the 3 different 9 hole layout is enjoyable. Decently challenging, as well as decently groomed. It winds it's way thru various high end neighborhoods, and definitely has a country club feel. G.N prices are pretty good for this course.
Thank you for the recommendation, we appreciate your feedback and are excited to let you know that we have course improvement plans for 2020 and beyond. We look forward to having you back out at Blacklake Golf Resort in the near future!

Shadow of it's Former Self
I returned to this golf course with fond memories of over a quarter-century ago, when this was one of my favorite tracks to play on the Central Coast. The wonderful layout is still there, but unfortunately, the course conditions have degraded dramatically. It seems to have fallen on hard times, due to poor greenskeeping of the course. We played the Lakes/Canyon, which was my favorite track. Several Tee boxes were in bad shape and quite uneven. Worse still, several greens had weeds growing in them and were extremely furry. It was sad to see (and play) what was at one time a premiere golf destination. It needs an infusion of cash and love to bring it back to where it needs to be.
Confusion!!!!
I booked the round using Golf Now app as I have a gift card. The facility would not honor my gift card so I had to pay out of pocket. There was a tournament that I was not aware of and the staff put us on the more difficult course. Since I am a new golfer, I found this a bit challenging. The tournament players were rude and pushy which intimidated me so that I did not finish the round. How do I make sure that my gift card is honored when arranging my tee times? Since the course was listed on GolfNow app, I thought that they would honor my gift card. Guess I need to find out how the gift card works if the courses will not honor it. Not a very good experience.
Poor
The course definitely has had water issues for some time. Even a well placed drive has a poor lie in the middle of the fairway. The layout of the Oaks is an attempt to use the natural terrain and trees as a challenge but the course conditions just make it unfair.
Not bad
Older course, adequately maintained. Pace of play was super fast even on a Saturday. Staff super friendly but range facility is not good. Old worn out mats, tiny putting green. Not a bad course but overpriced for non-residents. Should be about $45.
Poorly maintained course
Tee boxes in bad shape and un-even. Greens poorly manicured and quite a few weeds. Second cut around green hardly evident if at all . Fairway okay but hard to distinguish fairway from rough. For what they ask per round I expect better. Other area courses in better shape for less.
Poor conditions to say the least
After all the rain we got here in California I figured I'd trya course on the coast I've never played, well I wish I didn't.. the tee box's were unlevel the greens were either super long or dryed out so who knows what speed to you need. I played well but was expecting a way nicer course then I got. I wouldn't play here again with monarch dunes so close
Surprised about the conditions.
I was expecting the fairways and tees to be much better with how much rain we’ve had. Dairy creek is immaculate right now.
Greens rolled pretty true though and quick.
Great course
My wife and I played 18 on the Lakes 9 and the Canyons 9. The Lakes was the better of the two. There is a 3rd 9 also. The layout was interesting and fun. All of the greens were excellent.
Very nice in ProShop, but course condition pretty bad
From the tips to the ladies tees, we only had a combined total of about 3 flat tee boxes. Fairways were fair, greens were okay but realy slow. PrShop staff was very nice. This is our 2nd time playing this course on vacation. We won't do a third, unfortunaltely. The course design is good, just in bad condition.
