Desert Falls Country Club
About
Can bunkers qualify as their own continent? Desert Falls Country Club in Palm Desert seems determined to find out.
This Ron Frehm design boasts bunkers so huge that they look like the inventor of the Big Gulp came up with them. And escape is anything but guaranteed. Sometimes getting out of one bunker, just means landing in another at Desert Falls.
That is just part of the reason this course totes a 128 slope rating - putting it among the five highest slope ratings in the entire Palms Springs area. Remember, this is the golf mecca with Pete Dye's Stadium Course, which was only designed to be "the toughest golf course in the world." Desert Falls is on that list.
There are five sets of tees to take away some of the bite. But the greens are still an obstacle of their own. These are undulating greens that are large enough to offer several varieties of challenges.
Just getting on the green is not enough at Desert Falls. It's important to land on the right part of the green. This is also a course with more hills than you expect to see in the desert.

Golfer Reviews
The course was in great shape! Our golf carts were not good at all! One went dead on 13, the staff got us a new cart pretty quickly, then the other cart barely moved while on the cart path, only negative thing to say!
Love the layout, conditions were great.
I really enjoy this course layout. Nice combo of risk reward holes. Nice scenery all around.
Conditions were quite good. Rough was rough, fairways were in good shape. Bunkers great. Greens firm and rolled great.
Wind was roaring all day... But that is not the courses fault! Wind exposes your games faults... Not the courses faults.
Guy in the shop was friendly and helpful.
All good!
Challenging course with blind shots & water hazards.
This is an excellent course and challenges you to keep the ball in the fairway. A few blind shots and water comes into play a lot on this course.
Overall, fun and challenging…
Don’t Recommend
We were visiting the Palm Desert area for a week of golf with another couple and thought Desert Falls looked good online. We got to the course and nobody was there to assist with clubs. We eventually lugged our clubs around to the pro shop ourselves. Not a big deal. The starter was helpful with some local info but the course layout is a bit strange and the shape of the greens and pin placements were bizarre. The cart we were given was VERY SLOW and nearly made it through the round. We only saw the cart girl once and there was nowhere to have a drink and an appie after the round. When we finished the staff were all leaving and told us to just leave the carts in the parking lot. Won’t spend money here again.

Really enjoyable track, stay out of bunkers and water 😁. Wind is always blowing so keep an eye on where your ball is heading. My only negative is that we played on Monday early and the snack bar is closed on Mondays.
Wide open fairways and water. Enjoyed the course, the weather was bad 20-30 MPH sustained wind. Good news for us was the course was quiet. Would play again when in the area
No one to take bags from bag drop to cart area on backside of clubhouse. Checked in and guy in pro shop said, Oh you're prepaid. I asked about getting bags and he said I could just grab a cart and get them myself. Went to hit balls and found out you had to purchase in pro shop. Not very helpful.
Front nine very easy. Wide open. Back nine much more challenging and interesting. Greens fairly slow but smooth.
