Desert Falls Country Club
About
Can bunkers qualify as their own continent? Desert Falls Country Club in Palm Desert seems determined to find out.
This Ron Frehm design boasts bunkers so huge that they look like the inventor of the Big Gulp came up with them. And escape is anything but guaranteed. Sometimes getting out of one bunker, just means landing in another at Desert Falls.
That is just part of the reason this course totes a 128 slope rating - putting it among the five highest slope ratings in the entire Palms Springs area. Remember, this is the golf mecca with Pete Dye's Stadium Course, which was only designed to be "the toughest golf course in the world." Desert Falls is on that list.
There are five sets of tees to take away some of the bite. But the greens are still an obstacle of their own. These are undulating greens that are large enough to offer several varieties of challenges.
Just getting on the green is not enough at Desert Falls. It's important to land on the right part of the green. This is also a course with more hills than you expect to see in the desert.

Golfer Reviews
Friendly Staff
The course overall was decent, but the greens were very slow and were also very strange shaped with tons of undulation. Staff was fantastic and pace of play was good but overall the course and facility is tired and needs to be upgraded.
Cool day
The course was in good shape and pace of play was excellent. Was able to get a good rate through golfnow.
The person in the pro shop was not very welcoming, I think he wished he was someplace else. On the other hand the fellow who loaded the carts really liked his job and was extremely welcoming.
Pleasant Surprise
This was the first time playing this course. Really liked the greens. Didn't like number nine hole too much 😀. Good value and course was on great condition.
Mint golf course.
My golfing experience was totally 💯 five star. My only pain was that there was no bar, bar cart or 19th hole available after one of the best golfing experiences of my life.
Pleasant Surprise
This course was better than expected. Didn't enjoy number nine very much, but other than that I liked the layout. The course conditions were excellent. Would definitely play there again.
Great day on the links
Loved the course, the conditions were awesome. Played in under 4 hours. The greens are challenging as almost every hole has multiple peninsulas on them where the hole is located often with about 8-10 feet of green, beyond them. Found this course to be beautiful and difficult for me with the 18 handicap.
Bring Food and Drink
Beautiful course, lots of water and elevation changes, BUT no cart service, restaurant not open and bar closed at 5:00 pm. Ordered a post round drink but had to ‘enjoy’ it on patio or parking lot.
The course was in better condition this week than the week before. Greens and fairways were cut better.
When the wind is up this is a challenging . They have a few bunkers( number 8 for sure )that are cut into hillsides and in certain spots you can't get a club on the ball.
You essentially have to take penalty stroke to hit your sand shot which is very poor design .
Overall we have enjoyed playing it.
Lots of water
Fun golf course. Excellent staff. Greens could be a little faster.
Enjoyable round of golf
I really enjoyed playing Desert Falls CC! It reminded me more of a Florida golf course as there wasn’t a lot of desert landscape which made it unique. Some of the greens were uniquely shaped and could result in a 3 or 4 club difference. I felt is was a good value.
Wide open course with unique greens
Course is very good. Nice layout. Even though it is wide open the greens make the course challenging. Water comes into play on about 7 holes.
Falls
Played on a Sunday after a Saturday wind storm. Greens were cleaned up of palm tree branches, but not fairways. Starter said it wouldn’t be cleaned up until Monday and Tuesday. Greens were bumpy and slow. Don’t think they were mowed on Sunday. Price to play is too high. $111.00 for 18 holes. It’s a max of $75 course. Back nine is a much better layout than the front. Huge greens!
8 minute tee times
8 minute tee times do not work for this course. 2 foursomes backed up on the tees the first two par threes. That is like playing a muni course and would not return.
