Desert Falls Country Club
About
Can bunkers qualify as their own continent? Desert Falls Country Club in Palm Desert seems determined to find out.
This Ron Frehm design boasts bunkers so huge that they look like the inventor of the Big Gulp came up with them. And escape is anything but guaranteed. Sometimes getting out of one bunker, just means landing in another at Desert Falls.
That is just part of the reason this course totes a 128 slope rating - putting it among the five highest slope ratings in the entire Palms Springs area. Remember, this is the golf mecca with Pete Dye's Stadium Course, which was only designed to be "the toughest golf course in the world." Desert Falls is on that list.
There are five sets of tees to take away some of the bite. But the greens are still an obstacle of their own. These are undulating greens that are large enough to offer several varieties of challenges.
Just getting on the green is not enough at Desert Falls. It's important to land on the right part of the green. This is also a course with more hills than you expect to see in the desert.

Golfer Reviews
Really good balue
The course was in the best shape I have seen.
Had a great day.
Great value.
Very friendly Marshall.
Great variety and well maintained
We really enjoyed playing at Desert Falls. The course was well-maintained and there was a nice variety in the holes. Greens are large and pin placement can change the hole significantly.
We will play there again!
Good not Great
First time playing. GPS would have been nice to see hazards ahead. Grounds were in good shape. Greens are shaggy slow. Cours is WIDE open hard to hit a ball out of bounds.
Great experience!
Going back in a few days. This is a great course. Conditions are top shelf, greens and bunkers in very good shape. No dead spots anywhere that I saw. As a non-resident, there will never be great value for money anywhere, but that's the price we pay to swap snow shoes for golf shoes a few days a winter. Lol.
This place is permanently on my places to play list for future trips.
Beautiful golf course
Very good condition throughout.
Lots of variation in the design of the holes and lots of elevation change. My favourite of 10 on this tour.
Rain Ended Round After Nine
Minimal staff support and it was a bad weather day with heavy rain. Better signage would have helped but given the wet conditions it played well. Hope to play it again on next visit to the area.
Nice alternative to the resorts
The course was in excellent condition. The layout is fair, but tougher than most of your resort courses. Price was below the resort courses. Piece of play was excellent up until the last four holes. Would definitely come back.
Not worth the money
Terrible, No one serving anything to drink on the golf course.
Water station had no cops for the water.
15 minute, wait to get a sandwich. A Turkey sandwich that was $17.
Not worth the money not worth anything. I do not recommend this golf course.
Great Course
Nice layout, wide open fairways and some holes with water challenges. Several tee boxes for all level of golfers. Course is in very nice shape, greens average speed.
Starter was friendly, let us out early as it was quiet. Finished in less than 4 hours. Inside staff barely acknowledged us. 🙄 No beer cart. Not sure if they normally have one.
Going back for sure as conditions are great.
Good course!
Great pace of play, good course conditions, friendly staff, especially the starter.. couldn’t ask for more!
Great Golf Facility
This is a must play if you r are in the Palm Desert area. The layout is tough so choose your tees wisely. There is room to hit it sideways but you will pay the price. Fairways, tees and greens are in great shape. Carts are dated with no gos. Great practice areas and food choices.
Your 5 -star rating is greatly appreciated. We would like to express our thanks and look forward to your return.
