Wexford Golf

About
The Wexford Golf was designed by Willard Byrd and opened in 1983. Wexford annually plays host to the local qualifier for the MCI Classic - The Heritage of Golf. Playing at nearly 7,000 yards from the back tees, with a slope rating a whisker away from 140, Wexford has planted itself as one of the most respected golf courses in the Hilton Head area.
"The amount of events Wexford is able to draw is testament to the positive renovation and the amount of respect the course receives," wrote a TravelGolf.com writer.
This traditional-style course has water and natural hazards that come into play on many holes. The signature hole is the 380-yard 18th, requiring a tee shot over a marsh and up a dogleg right fairway, then an approach shot over another marsh to the green.

Fantastic Club
There are a ton of great private clubs and courses in this area, but Wexford is certainly near the top of the list. Had the opportunity to play Wexford several times and what stands out the most at Wexford is the condition of the course, especially in the winter. It's flawless! Layout is very good, quite difficult course, especially around the greens. There are some scenic holes; but all in all great golf course, great club, and probably one the best conditioned courses I have ever played.
Best on Hilton Head
I have a home in Wexford Plantation and am a member. Live here part time. Have played almost every course on the island. Wexford is, hands down, the best layout, best conditioned, most challenging course. I'm a 6 handicap and the course has ample challenge from the Member's tees. There are holes that require fades, draws, high shots, long shots, hazard management, and the greens are anything but subtle. The course is a brilliant piece of design and is anything but a "resort" course. Because we have so few members and many being part time residents, there is never a wait and slow play is near non existent. Island paradise? Yes, indeed.
Great layout
This is the second year we played this course and once again did not disappoint. The course was in great condition and we pretty much had the place to ourselves. The course has great variety and many outstanding holes!
For a member of another private club getting an invite via our pro to this course, how much could we expect to pay in greens fees ?
