Shipyard Clipper/Galleon
Course is in great shape, greens are rolling true, fairways are well maintained. Course is open with sone water hazards, but not too difficult. Got on right away, played the round in 3:30, not a lot of people around. Very nice.
Awesome experience
Really enjoyed the whole experience, golfed 3 18’s this week. Highly recommend for all skill levels. Awesome!!!
just not relaxing
course is in good shape. zoysia greens... so built for durability, not speed. lots of water and doglegs so hard to figure out what to hit and where. nothing worse than having to wait on every shot while the group behind you feels the need to tailgate. hitting shots while you're still on the green, riding up while you're trying to tee off after waiting for the group in front of you. there were open holes all over so this is just poor control of tee times.
Hilton Head Gem
Interesting course layout…not every hole starts with a driver. Condition was wonderful. It was like having a private country club course - nobody in front of us, nobody pushing us! Great staff- full of helpful information.

Friendly and Helpful
Everyone at Shipyard was Friendly and Helpful from the folks at the counter to the starter and his staff. The course had a fair share but not too much of water to challenge us. The course was in great shape. Highly recommend. Would play again
Ok Layout
Course was fine and not crowded. But with no GPS, one would think there would be markers on sprinkler heads. But no.
Great Course for the Price
Had a great time with some very very nice playing partners. Great place to play on the island for the price.
Shipyard is a gem!!!
Shipyard is very underrated. Three sets of 9 with very different challenges. Course is very playable but provides fun challenges for players of any level. My biggest pet peeve with golf courses is when they make it so tricky you don't have a reasonably attainable option, such as long carry second shots to a green surrounded by water or bushes. There is none of that nonsense at Shipyard.
Changing the combo of 9s gives each 18 a different look. It's a fun course in great shape! Added bonus, the food is good too!!!
Great course and great staff
Staff was excellent. Course was lovely. Will definitely play here again!
Tardy
We played Gallion and there really should have been a ranger out there. A group in front of us was literally making us all wait 15 minutes at the tee box. They weren’t ready or playing ready golf. At the 8th hole they asked us to play thru. I understand people are of all talent levels and are on vacation but a bit of prodding by a Ranger would have been great.
Overall a nice round.
Thanks
Shipyard Golf Club Review: Clipper and Brigantine Courses
Date Played: August 23, 2023
Hilton Head's Shipyard Golf Club proved to be an exquisite experience during my morning round. The Clipper and Brigantine nines offered contrasting challenges set against the iconic Hilton Head backdrop.
Course Layout:
The Clipper course is a testament to thoughtful design with its strategic water hazards and fairways that ebb and flow between the Carolina pines. The Brigantine, on the other hand, boasts a captivating blend of natural beauty and challenging bunkers, making every shot a contemplative decision.
Course Conditions:
Both courses were in impeccable shape. Greens were fast despite the morning dew, and fairways showcased diligent care.
Natural Beauty:
Playing amidst the towering oaks draped in Spanish moss, with views of serene marshlands, truly elevated the experience. The harmony of the course with its natural surroundings is a standout feature.
Staff and Customer Service:
Warm southern hospitality was evident in every interaction, making the experience even more memorable.
In conclusion, Shipyard's Clipper and Brigantine courses provide not just a game, but a holistic Hilton Head golfing experience. Highly recommended for both novice and seasoned golfers.
